    "aww they just hungwy. Like tiny, fuzzy dwagons." He looks back and forth between Drindin and the rats, nodding in satisfaction at his comparison. "Anyone need a familiaw?"

    Dwobwick tears a small chunk of cheese off the shelf next to him and moves to 5x3, setting the cheese down slowly on the shelf near the rat in 5x4 and smiling back at his friends before continuing down the passage.

    Dwobwick moves forward, and the rats seem to ignore him... for a few sets. As he crosses into square 7-2 a rat you did not see in 7-4 scurry into his square and bite at his feet.

    attack roll - 21 - damage 1

    The nip is quite painful, and it pierces your boot and draws blood.

    That was the surprise round. Here is initiative.

    Another bolt goes skittering down the hall, missing the rat as Dwobwick dances around the rat and incoming fire. Unfortunately he is not as adept at avoiding the rat as the bolts, and takes another nasty bite (1 damage)

    The bolt hits home, and the rat is knocked thrashing to the floor. It's death squeak quiets the room for a moment.

    Then there is more squeaking, angry squeaking.

    Three more rats (one you had already seen and two you had not) scurry out of the shelving to the north and attack Dwobwick fiercely. All three of them land piercing bites on his legs and feet! (Three damage)

    Dwobwick staggers, trying to avoid the tiny teeth, and his face turns a paler shade of brown. His soft shoes have turned a crimson shade as blood seeps out of the wounds at an alarming rate, matting some of the rats' fur and giving them an even more frightening appearance.

    Illven fires his crossbow at the R5 rat, as he has little hope to hit a rat in the melee. His bolt flies true, sinking into rat flesh.

    Then two more rats join the fray at Dwobwick's feet. The R12 rat and another you had not seen attack him. One fails to find soft flesh to bite, but the other savages his legs, causing him to drop to the ground in pain! (1 damage, you are at 0HP)

    All the rats you can see are in Dwobwick's square (there are 5)

    It is now Drindrin's and Robert's turn.

    Robert holds out a hand and pulls the ambient light into the room apart, fraying it like thread and unspooling into a bright, rainbow-hued beam, engulfing the rats swarming around Dwobwick.

    Dwobwick turns to his companions intent on running away from the tiny things menacing his legs. He turns at just the wrong moment; Robert's spell hits him full in the face. You see his eyes go wide for a moment before he collapses to the floor, the lights temporarily frying his brain.

    All but one rat goes down into unconsciousness. Rat 7 managed to resist your magics! With Dwobwick unconscious, it currently is not in melee, and eveyone has a clear shot!

    The last remaining rat squeaks as the crossbow bolt bounces off the ground next to it, and it decided to retreat. The rat disappears into the shelving, and you can hear the sound of panicked squeaking disappear into the walls.

    Drindrin walks over to where Dwobwick lies bleeding, covered in unconscious rats, stowing his crossbow back on his belt, and pierces his claws into the guts of one of the rats.

    You further examine the room. There are two doors that lead further into the cellar. Both are on the East wall, one is on the north side, the other on the south. The south door looks skewed in it's frame.

    As his vision returns he sees the rats and the rest of you and an 'aww man!' expression crosses his face for a moment before he limps to his feet. He kicks one of the dead rats and winces as he strikes it with a punctured section of his foot. "It's a little more than a blister, but anyone got some mole skin?"

    He lets the others move to the front of the line and examine the two doors ahead of him.

    Drindrin sets his little scalely shoulder to the door and, after some effort, it pops free from it's frame, swinging open. Inside is a larger room, with tall cellings arching up 15ft above your heads. The room is dominated by two large standing shelves ten feet on a side. There is a door to the north, south, and east. The door to the east is padlocked with a small padlock, and has a small engraved plate reading "Pasteurization Room". A sharp tangy scent of sewer odder hits your nose as the air blows in. There is a draft from somewhere foul.

    Fully aware of the pain these dream rats can inflict, Dwobwick graciously allows his companions to venture in before him.

    "Caweful. I see some eyes in the shelves." He waggles his finger at the dark corners of 3x2, a look of anger mixed with fear in his eyes. "No mo gnomewiches fo you!"
