Re: The Pub: Off-topic chat for forum gamers
Alright, Saposhiente it is.
I only hope I actually end up on the same team as Sapo. That is my one true wish.

Re: The Pub: Off-topic chat for forum gamers
I think if we've played together before, we're not allowed to be entered into the first round of games in the same game.
So, we'd both have to advance in order to be in the same game. I specifically opted out of game 1 anyway, too busy this week.
Speaking of which, Saposhiente is in the first game, so we'll link the game here, chat about it here, and root for Sapo to win, regardless of what team.Last edited by Askthepizzaguy; 2015-04-01 at 06:00 PM.

Re: The Pub: Off-topic chat for forum gamers
I suppose it would probably be against the rules for Sapo to tell us what his role is so we know which team to root for (in an invitation-only QT where folks from other forums can't see us, of course.)

Re: The Pub: Off-topic chat for forum gamers
You can ask the mod for spoilers, but I suspect they won't give them.
I find it interesting how I've barely read anything from them and am already coming to conclusions on their preferences. It's the werewolf instinct. Gotta understand people's motivations and perspectives.Last edited by Saposhiente; 2015-04-02 at 01:47 AM.

Re: The Pub: Off-topic chat for forum gamers
We might want to consider doing a quick topic of it. Last time open access speculation was forbidden, and I'm assuming we're going to want to speculate on things as we watch.
You probably won't have to read every post as an observer. You can get a good sense of what's happening by skipping through some of the filler. There also tends to be more repetitive chatter in this format.
IF, Reaverb and I were able to basically solve the (last championship) game in decent time and IF only read something like half the posts.Last edited by Legato Endless; 2015-04-02 at 10:55 PM.

Re: The Pub: Off-topic chat for forum gamers
I read way less than that. The thing about the high activity style is it's basically turning the game into a live game all about looking for flinches in the moment, and you're relatively safe ignoring large portions of it like you would in a live game. (Well, like I would in a live game anyway.)

Soooo after hosting 2 Ready Aim Fire games (and a third one waiting to be approved), I've realized (again) that I like those kind of games. Doing the narration is always fun as well.
That being said, what are other games on this forum that are of that nature (that I can [co]narrate or take part in)?

If you're familiar with Lord of the Rings, I wouldn't mind a co-narrator.

Aww... my only knowledge of it is by playing Shadow Of Mordor.
I got the books afterwards. Now I have another excuse to speed-read through them!

A lots happened since I've been around, someone fill me in on everything post Pizzaguy seeing Murska's play in the game of champs 1 and jumping over to this forum. (And bringing friends)
I feel like I should know legato but nothing is coming to mind at all. Doesn't appear to be someone from pizzaguy's forum either so I have no real excuse. I needs info.

Re: The Pub: Off-topic chat for forum gamers
Wow, you've been gone a looooong time.
Let's see..... PizzaGuy appeared. People began analyzing everything day 1 . More players from other forums began arriving. . The Pub was created.
Things have been slow. We've gone from having games starting every other week to games starting about once a month, and 20 player games are requested to be scheduled. Hmmm, I'm not very good at this.
EDIT: Oh, and there seems to be a total lack of players to join games unless you PM or e-mail them. And there is a QuickTopic called "The Road to the Mafia Multiverse". It's a connection between different forums to request players for upcoming games, because evidently, GitP isn't the only place suffering a Mafia/Werewolf drought.

Also, Legato has hacked my brain. I didn't really realize how new Legato was until you said that. He is just too good.
Also, a wild game has appeared.
I keep forgetting to post stuff here, and only check central.Avatar made by Bradakhan| Other avatars.

I think it's better to post game announcements in Central, rather than have The Pub just become the new Central.

When it comes to advertising one's game, one can hardly ever have too many announcements posted.

Re: The Pub: Off-topic chat for forum gamers
Game 1 of the second season of the Mafia Championship has started: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/59...e-1-a-1523482/
Zack is playing
If you'd like to spectate the game, feel free to add me on Skype and I'll invite you to the spectator chat: thingyman
The chat attracted more than a 100 people last time from all the various communities and was a ton of fun. Most importantly, it is a great opportunity for networking and creating connections with other communities as evidenced by the fact that it led to a bunch of crossover games the first time around. You should pop in and say hello :)

Re: The Pub: Off-topic chat for forum gamers
What are thoughts on having a seer and/or fool in my all power role game? I know seer can be absurd if there is no fool, but fool can also be a bad role to have when everyone has a useful ability. Thoughts?

Re: The Pub: Off-topic chat for forum gamers
I'm hardly an expert at balance. But if you don't want to have a fool, you could use a "weaker" form of seer. If everyone has a power, then a watcher-type gives some very useful information, but its not usually a simple, definitive "this guy is a wolf." Also giving the wolves ways to mess with seers would be good. Alpha, disguiser, etc.

Re: The Pub: Off-topic chat for forum gamers
Usually in an all power-role game the wolves have a disguiser who makes people scry as other things, and often an Alpha who scries as a villager automatically. You could also have a Voider that also blocks scries on people they're voiding. Or you could make the Seer a lot less powerful and only have them scry for Mason/Not Mason or something. Or give everyone powers that cause interference with the Seer scry that those players need to use to fulfill personal win conditions.
And like Logic said, if the problem is that you don't think the Fool is a fun enough role to play, make the Fool scry pierce disguises, or make it so it always gets a correct scry when it hits interference, or something like that.SpoilerWhat kind of paranoid mind sees that as something else. ~ The Narrator, during Stranded in Space.

Re: The Pub: Off-topic chat for forum gamers
Basically what IF just said is use Ramsus' scry interference rules.
And that'd be the right call as that's exactly the kind of game setup I designed them for.
Edit: Not that I'm actually taking credit for the individual ideas. Just putting them together and slapping my name on it and using it in the games I run.Last edited by Ramsus; 2015-04-07 at 12:44 PM.

Re: The Pub: Off-topic chat for forum gamers
The only problem I find with that is that there are three ways to play it.
They don't know they pierce certain disguises, and they think they are just a useless fool.
They know they pierce certain things, but don't know which, making them unsure of when they are right.
They know what they pierce, giving away a hidden role (roles aren't listed).Avatar made by Bradakhan| Other avatars.

Re: The Pub: Off-topic chat for forum gamers
The second option would usually be the best choice.
