This week's theme (September 14 - 20) has not been chosen yet, so it is up for grabs.
Next week's theme is chosen by celtois - let me know in PM or this thread, and I'll include it in the next status.
Thank you, everyone, for the input regarding tardiness. I really did not expect everyone to have such a strong response to something I thought was a throw-away heads-up, but I’m glad we were able to find something that works. And for me, it’s been great to hear what the Challenge means for you guys individually.
I’ll update the FAQ accordingly and hope we won’t have reason to bring this up again anytime soon.
Welcome to the Challenge! I'm so impressed by the amount of artists we have right now
Noted! I'll put you on the list whenever you pass your first week.Spoiler

Ah, I completely forgot about the theme. I had one thought up too but I forgot it. (reading three SF novels in two days does bad things to your memory. And sleep schedule. And motivation to do anything other than read, hence why my chapter still isn't up)

Re: The CHALLENGE chugs on!
Did we have any rule on how to count translating? I spent yesterday evening this morning translating (German to English) nearly 4000 words of one of my older stories and it'd be great if that would somehow count for the challenge.

Goody, I was waiting for the theme before I got started. I'm assuming I go with the one that was suggested first? (Treasure.)

Re: The CHALLENGE chugs on!
Double up on word count? 500 translated words = 1 piece?
Yup! "This week" (or whatever Artman77 sneaks in to declare) is always the relevant part We just declare "Next week's theme" in advance to prevent several theme-free days once the week starts.Last edited by Glass Mouse; 2015-09-17 at 07:47 AM.

Re: The CHALLENGE chugs on!
Ended up being super busy most of this week due to end-of-term stuff for school. I'm gonna need to work overtime tomorrow. xD
Still, I got something done, and these don't take too long if I can focus. I am so rusty though, so these probably won't get good for a while. If I was a car, I'd be a Lancia Beta...

Re: The CHALLENGE chugs on!
I'm going to have to disappoint people again, I'm afraid. My hard drive is dying, and my computer is in for repair, so the only creative works I have access to is that I already had externally hosted when it all went tits-up:
Some visual changes to one of my maps (far more complex than they look: took me most of the week!)
And five pages of script, locked on a dying hard drive at the bottom of a filing cabinet in a disused lavatory in my university's technical support department with a sign on the door saying "beware of the leopard".
Can I make use of a delayed week from my allotment?- Avatar by LCP -

A disappointing performance for me. I enter, and then immediately forget about the Challenge during my second week. >_> (Admittedly, there were circumstances, but I remembered other stuff. Just wish I remembered this.)

Re: The CHALLENGE chugs on!
As a heads up for everyone, I'll be going away for my year anniversary with my wife starting Friday the 2nd of October until the 19th of October. So that'll be 3 weeks I'll have to make up when I get back.
We're going to Florida, and more importantly, we're going to HARRY POTTER WORLD. I'm going to be working on things while I'm gone, and ultimately, hopefully painting in my free time.Scientific Name: Wombous apocolypticus | Diet: Apocolypse Pie | Cuddly: Yes

Re: The CHALLENGE chugs on!
This week I have 5 sketches
and a 640 word write up of my dungeon world session.
Spoiler: Sketches
Spoiler: Write UpSession 2:
The party rested in Lord Eagle’s chamber before proceeding. After they were rested Lord Eagle sent them on their way. The party debated whether it was better to convince the rebel camp they were allies, attack, or simply sneak past the camp when they rebels put down to sleep when they heard the sounds of battle from down the East passage. Hawk and Magpie darted ahead to investigate where they saw three rebels under attack by a group of skeletons. One was already wounded on the ground, another was battling two skeletons desperately. The final rebel had tripped and was about to be sliced in twain by a skeleton when Sir Augustine destroyed it. The party was able to best the skeletons easily, and June introduced the party again as allies of the rebels, led by the Dark Lord Augustine. As the Rebel Lieutenant was tending the wounded rebel and offering the party supplies the remainder of the rebels came bolting down the passage. Drawn by the sound of fighting. The rebels were told to sheathe their blades by their commander, and the party collected three vials of healing potions a vial of antitoxin and a climbing kit from the rebels before heading deeper into the cave
There were two passages deeper and the party took the one the rebels had just come down, reasoning, since the rebels had, had no trouble with skeletons before that their mining activity down that passage had drawn the attention of the skeletons.
The party slowly made their way down the passage until they discovered a hole bashed through the side of the wall, which looked very recent. A strange green glow emanated from that passage.
Lilli attempted to detect the magical source of the green glow, and discovered it was emanating from an stitched together undead monstrosity, which had three heads, which bore a striking resemblance to Lord Eagle… the remains of his two sons and his wife, knit together into an undead abomination. The abomination, disturbed by the magical detection spell barrelled down on Lilli, but Sir Augustine was able to fend it off. The party struck at the abomination tearing sickeningly wet flesh off in quivering chunks and destroying an arm. But it was not enough and the abomination grabbed Lilli and began to tear the eleven mage in two, but was stopped when Magpie slid her dagger into the base of its neck and rode it all the way down, bisecting the creature into two immobile masses which fell to the ground with a sickening sound.
Having ended the abomination the party stopped to heal, and Magpie found, and promptly lit a chest on fire. While the documents, and potions that had once been in that chest burned, they found a collection of 150 year old coins, with a denomination value of 100 gold, (worth more to a collector) and several pieces of jewelry set with fire opals, worth 200 gold (I think, anyone have a record of this?).
Having healed up the party continued down the passage where they saw a stately young man who resembled lord eagle, flanked by two skeletons in a simply but elegantly furnished chamber. Although many of the fine hangings and furniture was neglected. Remembering Lord Eagles advice Magpie Rushed in to grab the staff before Vental could retrieve it, while Augustine and Lilli attempted to draw the skeletons attention. Magpie was able to grab the staff, though she was wounded in the process. And the party began a battle for their lives with the fearsome necromancer and his minions.
Mental was standing in a magic circle which appeared to protect him against Mindy’s arrows, the barrier was disrupted by Lilli throwing some of the magic stones retrieved before at Vental.
And we left the party fighting for their lives against VentalAvatar by me
