Well... My vote had evidence. If I voted somewhere else, and Lex Kat didn't show up, there would be a tie. If I voted for Lex Kat, there would be a tie. Soooo....

That's not evidence... You're all lynching me for no reason. No one is claiming anything so unless I'm missing my guess either everyone is voting randomly or there are some people that know more than I do. Either way this is ridiculous at least by voting someone else you have a chance of killing someone aligned with a faction or another and not an innocent bystander.

Day 4

April 16th

The Market. Suffice to say, it was a veritable mob of people attacking the sellers. Money was thrust at the shopkeeps, and they struggled to get the items out. Soon enough, all was sold out, but they still weren't done. One after another, people thronged to buy items, insistent that there was still something back there. Something they could use, a charm or something. Anything to keep them safe from the riots of the recent days. I've never seen anything like it, and the shopkeeps looked like they hadn't either. Midway through the day, they just... closed up shop. They left people outside banging on the door and holed up, inventory cleared out. I can only hope the people finally left them alone...

As people took their drinks, their safes, their newspapers, they began to gather in the square, muttering to each other. Stuff like "What's she been doing lately?" and "What's that guy even good for?" began rising out of conversations, and two people were ganged up on. They resisted, of course, but what could they do? Finally, they settled on one man. "You've been trying to sell us drinks, but we know not to accept them! Who knows what's in them?!" and similar attacks were shouted. He tried to turn their minds, but what could he say?

They took him and brought him to the gallows, and there they put his head in the noose despite his struggles. A turn of the lever, and another potential lead goes down the drain. I had been investigating him, and he was bringing me closer to the Shiners. And if I could talk with them, I'd be one step closer to figuring out just what's going on here and why they've been accused of stealing... recipes? There has to be something more going on here, but I can't tell what. And now, it will be just a bit longer until I do.

I apologize for late narrations. I apparently started this game at a bad time for me, and I've had neither the time nor the ideas for what I need to write. I hope that future delays will be shorter or nonexistent, but no promises. Next game, I should really get a co-narrator...

The problem with someone like the Count (or, really, most narrators who have done a lot of games) is that he has a very specific style that would be difficult for a co-narrator to replicate. This is especially true for an established series, such as Careless.

Even if one person writes narrations and the other resolves night actions, there can be some issues. I know some of my narrations didn't work at all with what Ramsus had in mind for Center. I know I've seen other series where one person's visualization of the fluff didn't fit with someone else's.

Grant you, I have never been a co-narrator, just been around for like Andre's mafia games....it was much easier on his sanity (and mine) that there was someone else responsible. I guess it is a matter of finding someone you are compatible with as a narrator...and then going from there.

There are people who thrive with co-narrators. I just know I'm not one. That, and I think Count and I talked about a co-narrator for Careless before.

I had a co-narrator for the first Careless. I planned everything first, and then I brought it to him, and he looked it over for apparent balance. And then he disappeared. So I did pretty much everything.

The second Careless, I did everything myself, which was crazy, considering how much there was. Somehow, I handled it, and I didn't have (many) delays. I also started at the beginning of a semester instead of the end of one, and I had most of everything planned out from the beginning. It was also pretty much the only thing I was doing.

This time, I'm still doing everything myself, and now that I've started, it would be difficult to add someone as a co-narrator. I can handle it, especially once I get everything else that I'm behind on done. The problem here is that this is one of three things I'm behind on. Work is another due to a crazy semester in which I was pretty much able to do nothing work-wise. blade knows the third thing. This is one of three large projects that I'm doing, which means I simply don't have the time.

If I were to have a co-narrator for the next Careless (assuming I feel it should happen), I would need to get one around the planning stages. They would probably take care of the fluff and narration style, and I'd worry with balance and events and the crunch of the game. I can get the roles together and make it balanced for two or three recruiting teams and any number of total roles by now. If I still want one by the end of the game, I will ask to see if anyone wants to do it. Then would come the long process of planning, regardless of whether or not I have a co-narrator, before we start recruitment. We'll see. I feel like I may need one, but as Pengi said, I may not thrive with a co-narrator. Elsewhere, I've used them to handle multiple instances of the same game, and it's worked out well. It's a bit different here, though, so we'll see.

The Daily Grind

Duck Crossing: Unprecedented duck migration stops traffic for miles.

Yesterday at almost noon on the dot, a herd of Ducks, 999 in total, all began to cross Main Street. While ducks have been witnessed around the area, and some have caused traffic delays while crossing with their ducklings, never before has anyone seen such a large population and especially not moving in such a large flock. Rumors abound that it is actually the Police who laid a trail of breadcrumbs in an attempt to Void the actions of all Mooneys and Shiners (and everyone else) taking this path to work. Of course, the Police vehemently deny it and exclaim that this is merely a natural phenomenon, regardless of its scale. For more information, continue reading on page A3.

Please Don't Stop the Music!

Local man, now nicknamed Legato Endless, has been singing nonstop for two days straight. Through his singing, he's explained that he can't stop singing for fear that a bomb inside of him will go off and kill everyone around him. Since then, he's become a sort of tourist attraction, with people coming from nearby to hear his song and bet when he'll stop singing. ...and whether the bomb is real. Some skeptics believe this is all a hallucination of his, brought on by recent fits of drinking. Rumor has it that at a local Mooney bar, he drank so much that he believed he was a Beast and started to growl at the other customers! Is it real, or is it all a scam? April 17th

A lead! I finally got a lead! This man came up to me last night - drat, I forgot to ask his name - and handed me a letter. There was a time and a place, and a message: "I hear you wish to learn the truth of the Shiners. Well, if that's what you wish, I can lend you my tongue. You would be right to believe there's more at work here than on the surface."

Well, it's obviously a trap of some sort, but who am I to pass up such a great opportunity? For sure, I'll be there at midnight tomorrow, with protection of course, and we'll see just how much this man is willing to tell me. From what I've gathered, there is a suspicious similarity in taste between Shiner and Mooney brews, but is it truly enough to warrant suspicion of stealing? I'll weigh this new information with a grain of salt, and we'll see where it leads me.

The Postman is in town!

This is the only method of private communication allowed in this game. This is a private, anonymous messaging service. If you would like the recipient to know that you sent it, please include your name in the message, say as a signature. If you would like the recipient to believe that someone else sent it, well... you can? As I said, it's anonymous. All you need to do is tell me in your QT that you would like to send a message to another player(s), and include the message. It costs $10 per recipient to send a message. If you would like to send a message to everyone, you can get a discount at $5 per recipient, which is a total of $55 currently. If Clueless Newcomers join during the day, that would up the price. Yes, this is a limited system. Use the system wisely, and take note that there is no limit on the length of the message, though shorter is simpler and less for the recipient to read through. Also note that the recipient may not have the money to respond...

You also have an option to send an item to someone for $20 per item. If you think someone else can use your item better, or if you think you're going to die and waste your item, there's always that option. There also might be some items that are worth sending around in this game. Well, if you ever want to use it, this option is available. Oh, and there may or may not be days where you get a discount.

...I feel like I had something else to say, but I can't remember. Hmm... if I do remember, I'll make an announcement.

Part of the delay this time was waiting for a specific action. Which never happened. The other part was having little time at the computer and knowing that the Postman was about to start. I should be on QT sporadically each day at the very least to ferry around messages as needed. I hope this will help me keep a better schedule for narrations as well.

Interesting question: Can you set it up so a message or item is received at a later date?

If you give me an in-game day/night, I will hold onto the item/message until then. However, there will be a holding cost added on. For each day/night phase that I would hold onto it, it will cost an extra $2. For example, it's currently Day 5. If you would like a message to arrive at the start of Night 5, it would cost $10 (I don't hold onto it for an entire phase). For Day 6, it's $12; for Night 6, it's $14; for Day 7, it's $16; etc. Items would be $20, $22, $24, and $26, respectively and would follow the same pattern.

Items sent in this fashion are held by me and cannot be used by either the sender or the recipient. However, it would also not be lost if the sender dies.

If the recipient is not alive at the time that you plan to give it, the item/message shall be returned to sender, and you will receive half of the money spent at that time. If you are also no longer alive, the item/message will be discarded.
