No, but the various crystals of return (MIC p.65) do something similar but the range is greatly reduced (30 ft.).

The bonus question is beyond the scope of this thread.

    Q445

When a martial adept switches a known maneuver for a different one on level up, does the "losing" of the old maneuver happen before the "gaining" of the new one? Or vice-versa, or do they happen simultaneously? I'm asking for the purpose of prerequisites.

For example, if a Crusader wants to acquire Swarming Assault from White Raven, he needs 3 other White Raven maneuvers. If he has exactly 3 other White Raven maneuvers when he wants to do the switch, can he switch one of them out to learn the new one, or does the fact that upon "losing" the old one he only has two WR maneuvers, and thus don't have the prereqs for Swarming Assault, prohibit him from taking it?

78% of DM's started their first campaign in a tavern. If you're one of the 22% that didn't, copy and paste this into your signature.

    Where did you start yours?

The main character (solo campaign) heard about the upcoming execution of his brother for murder, and was on his way to the Count's Keep to stop or delay it.

Ok this is a real simple question but in what book are all the templates for monsters? I've checked DMG 1&2, as well as the MM3 but can't find it. New DM but am I missing something here

Templates are found throughout various books. You can find all templates and their respective books here by hitting Ctrl+F and typing "Template" without quotes.

There is no sequence detailed in the exchange, so it's simultaneous; the number of maneuvers known does not change.

So then there would be no problem with the Crusader doing what my example said, with Swarming Assault? I think so, based on your answer, but just to be clear?

You misunderstand. Since there is no sequence for the loss of one maneuver and the acquisition of another, the character never has less than the required number of maneuvers. After the switch the new maneuver is one of the prerequisite maneuvers for itself.

If a creature has all forms of vision blocked by a spell (Sleet Storm), is that creature considered Blind? If not, then is there a written penalty for "blocks all vision"?

    Q 450 B

How many Balance checks does walking in a Twined Flash Frost Sleet Storm require? 4, 2, or 1?

Does a Selective Sleet Storm with me as the selected target not block my vision?

Is there a way to make Ocular Spell last longer than 8 hours in the eye?

This spell deals untyped magical damage, which is not subject to any DR or resistance.

    A 453

They last 1 hour, since the duration of the temporary HP is independent of the spell.

    Q 454

Is "Force" an energy type, or just a damage type? The descriptions of some spells like Energetic Healing, Energy Absorption, and Animate Breath suggest it isn't, but that's hardly an end-all rules analysis.

In order to have the reserve feat Touch of Healing available for use, does a good aligned cleric need to have prepared a cure or equivalent spell, or does their spontaneous casting ability allow all their non-domain spells to count for the feat?

It isn't. From the Wizards glossary:

    "energy damage

Damage caused by one of five types of energy (not counting positive and negative energy): acid, cold, electricity, fire, and sonic."

    No "force" energy.

There are several psionic powers which deal physical-typed damage (slashing, piercing, or bludgeoning) which specifically note that DR applies against them. That is a case of specific overriding the general rule.

Without such an explicit exception, damage caused by spells and other magical effects is not subject to damage reduction even if the damage is of a type that is also caused by weapons.

    Q 457

    Ninja Ki Dodge.
When a ninja activates this power, he can make one attack directed at him miss automatically. This option can be used before the attack roll is declared as a success or a failure. This choice is available for one round.
In addition, all attacks have 20% miss chance for one round.

It has been specified in the ability description that "an attack", meaning a specific attack, will be missed regardless of the attack roll when the ninja wishes so. It has been also specified that all attacks have 20% miss chance.

    Have I understood this correctly?

    A 457 No.

You've started with what looks like someone's idea of how they'd like the Ki Dodge class ability (Complete Adventurer, page 8) to work rather than the actual text, and then drawn an erroneous conclusion. The entire text of the class feature is only 3 sentences:
Ki Dodge (Su): At 6th level and higher, a ninja can spend one daily use of her ki power to cause an attack against her to miss when it might otherwise hit. When a ninja activates this ability, her outline shifts and wavers, granting her concealment (20% miss chance) against all attacks for 1 round. Using this ability is a swift action that does not provoke attacks of opportunity.
The concealment miss chance is how an attack might miss. There is no provision for any automatic miss.

A445 correction: No. The sequence is set by the use of the phrase "in exchange for" in the rules passage I previously cited. In order to obtain the new maneuver, one must give up (or "exchange") the old maneuver. Thus, there is a moment (be it ever-so-brief) in which your number of maneuvers known decreases by one as part of the exchanging action. If you are inclined to further disagreement, please provide a RAW citation in support of your position.

    A447: Yes.

A 449: It doesn't. Arcane Channeling is not a spell or spell-like ability, but a Supernatural (Su ability) as per PHB pg 20.

A 450 A: No. Let's compare the SRD entries on Sleet Storm and the "blinded" condition:

A 450 B: 4. A creature who wishes to walk in a Twinned Flash Frost Sleet Storm would have to make 1 Balance check for each Sleet Storm, plus two additional Balance checks for the fact that each of the storms was a Flash Frost spell.

A 450 C: Yes. You would also have no need to make Balance checks, since a Selective Spell doesn't affect the designated creature at all. Keep in mind, though, to use Selective Spell you'd have to be within the area of the Sleet Storm to qualify as the designated creature to be unaffected.

"In exchange for" does not state that the two actions (removal of one maneuver, acquisition of another) must happen one after the other. They can happen simultaneously. In fact the word exchange implies that they do. If they didn't happen simultaneously, it would not be an exchange but a removal and subsequent acquisition.

What's the name of that weapon modification that basically puts a dagger on the hilt of your blade that can be used in a grapple? (I believe it gives like a -2 to attacks with the main weapon while the dagger is deployed).
