There is no Acrobatics skill in 3.5e, did you mean to post this in a different thread?

If you were to get a Reinforced chain shirt (SRD), Reinforced chahar-aina (Oriental Adventures, p. 76) and Reinforced dastana (Oriental Adventures, p. 76), would the resulting combined pieces have a total armor value of 9 (5 from the chain shirt, 2 from the chahar-aina, and 2 from the dastana, with Reinforced counting separately for each), or a total armor value of 7 (5 from the chain shirt, 1 from the chahar-aina, and 1 from the dastana, with Reinforced counting only once)?

I am aware that magical properties (enhancement bonuses from magical enhancement or from spells such as magic vestment) on more than one of the above-mentioned items don't stack; I only ask in this case because the items are nonmagical.

    Q 557b
Regarding the Ornate nonmagical weapon/armor property (also from Dragon Magazine #358), do the circumstance bonuses from multiple different weapons/armor with the same type of Ornate enhancement stack, since they're circumstance bonuses, or overlap, because they're from the same source (the Ornate property)?

    Thanks! <3

    Q 569

If a character, proficient with tower shields, is using an animated tower shield, do they take the -2 penalty on attack rolls because of the shield’s encumbrance?

    Tower shield description:

    Shield, Tower
This massive wooden shield is nearly as tall as you are. In most situations, it provides the indicated shield bonus to your AC. However, you can instead use it as total cover, though you must give up your attacks to do so. The shield does not, however, provide cover against targeted spells; a spellcaster can cast a spell on you by targeting the shield you are holding. You cannot bash with a tower shield, nor can you use your shield hand for anything else.

When employing a tower shield in combat, you take a -2 penalty on attack rolls because of the shield’s encumbrance.
    Animated shield description:
    Animated
Upon command, an animated shield floats within 2 feet of the wielder, protecting her as if she were using it herself but freeing up both her hands. Only one shield can protect a character at a time. A character with an animated shield still takes any penalties associated with shield use, such as armor check penalty, arcane spell failure chance, and nonproficiency.

Strong transmutation; CL 12th; Craft Magic Arms and Armor, animate objects; Price +2 bonus.

"A character with an animated shield still takes any penalties associated with shield use"

The "such as" that follows are just examples. It doesn't limit the penalties imposed to just those.

So yeah, you still take -2 to attack, and if you get full cover behind it, you still can't make attacks (though that also means you're invisible, so horray!)

Yes, you would get a total of +3 to AC for all Reinforced pieces. Because the Reinforced bonus isn't an actual bonus. It's just a property that raises the armor bonus by 1. If you have the piece that provide the exception to the stacking rule, then they'll stack with the granted +1.

    A 557B

No. Circumstance bonuses only stack if they derive from different circumstances.

    Spoiler: Does it Stack?
    Show
Circumstance Bonuses: Circumstance bonuses stack when they arise from different circumstances. For example, you might get a circumstance bonus to Move Silently checks when you're walking on a soft surface, such as sand or moss. You might also get a circumstance bonus to Move Silently checks when moving in a very noisy environment.

Because "wearing a piece of armor" is the same circumstance three times, you only get the +2 once.

A 570 They're not independent. First you roll a Refx or Fort save for half damage. If you fail that save, you then roll a Will save to avoid also being stunned. If you succeeded on the first save, there is no Will save because there will be no stunning.

A 571 None. They happen simultaneously.

Q 557B Follow-up (related to the bolded text above)

Would the circumstance bonus apply twice if you had the Ornate property once each on a weapon and on an armor? Say, for example, if you had Ornate (intimidate) on a weapon and Ornate (intimidate) on an armor? I'm inclined to say no, because "holding an intimidating piece of equipment with the same named bonus" seems like the kind of thing you'd only get the +2 once for, but I just wanted to be sure.

They stack. Weapon and Armors are different things, so "wielding weapon" is circumstance 1, and "wearing armor" is circumstance 2.

Isn't "same source" something like having a 2 sets MW tools and them not stacking? Basically, is there a rule on what a "source" is? Because the source can be weapon and armor, or it can be ornate property.

I can't find an exact citation right now, but usually the name of the ability that provides the bonus is the source such as with AC Bonus (Monk, Swordsage) or Sneak Attack (Rogue and some (prestige) classes that do not explicitly state that they stack with other sources of Sneak Attack)

No, bonus languages are only acquired during character creation. Later on they have to be purchased with point in the speak language skill.

That's probably meant to say "evocation". In 2nd edition, there were two subschools called "evocation" and "invocation" which were combined into a single school. The author of the Spelldancer was probably an old-school player, and misremembered which name had been carried forward.

Yes. The restrictions of items per slot applies only to magical items.

    A 579B

None. You don't lose any AC, and your encumbrance and everything else stays exactly the same

Switching an armor part for a magic item only has no effect if it's a boot or gauntlet. Unfortunately, there seems to be no rules for helms (or for removing an armor part and not replacing it with a magic item)

A mundane kit of disguise will do the trick if you have enough skill ranks.

Cloak of Khyber (Wiz/Sorc 3) from Dragon #337 lasts 1day/lv but has a 50GP material component and a 6 hours cast time. Sorry, that's the PF version. The 3e version is a standard action cast and has a 50 GP focus.

Yup, no ASF. You also qualify for anything that has "cast divine spells" as pre-requisite (though if it's a PrC that advances only divine spellcasting, it doesn't apply to the same class as the Rainbow Servant's)

What makes you think that the duration of different "growings" overlap? I see nothing that prohibits the reading that each growing grants you 1 min/RS level.
