"True. Hmm, is...shadow-jumping the...only magic you...have? Magic...interests me."

El Cuervo turns its gaze from the tv screen to Ivaz.

Ivaz nods.

Yeah, but magic works differently in my home world than it does here. Everybody is born attuned to one of ten elements. I was attuned with shadow, so all of my stuff is shadow related.

"Interesting. All my...magic is dark...because that is...what I was...made with. It..appears that our...magics would be...similar and harmonious...with each other."

El Cuervo wiggles its fingers, trying to go along with its point/

Ivaz shrugs.

Eh, they might match a bit, but not wholly. I manipulate existing shadows.

"So, could you...make someone be...stuck to the...ceiling by their...shadow? I could...help in making...more shadows."

El Cuervo did find out that it likes being helpful to fellow members. An odd trait for a killing machine.

Ivaz shakes her head.

Only if they're already on the ceiling. I'll just make them sink into their shadow a bit.

"Oh. Well, that's...useful. So do...you need to...practice it, or...is it something...that you just...know how to...do?"

This is quite interesting to El Cuervo, much more than the tv.

Pretty much everybody knows how to use it. It's kind of instinctual. Like walking. You don't think about it. You just do it.

But, like walking, you can get better at it with practice. And some people are naturally better than others.

"So, how would..you rate yourself? ..Better than most...or average? I...would put myself...as a learner."

Compared to the other Shadow Bases I've met? I'm above average. Haven't met too many as good as me.

El Cuervo isn't quite sure on what to do next, now.

"So, is there...something you want...to do right...now? Or just...watch more tv?'

Eh, I'm good watching TV for now. Might go hit up the bars later.

"Fair enough."

El Cuervo turns its attention back to the tv then.

So what did you do before you attacked your village? When you were first made?

"My first memory...was about halfway...through my killing. ...Before that nothing. ...After it was...done, I wandered...through the village...and found a...hidden room, left...open for me. ...On a table...within it was...a book, telling...how to craft...a device to...hunt down one...person, after which...it would cease...to function. I...was made to...kill someone and...then the magic...would leave me."

Huh. So, as long as you don't kill that one person, your magic will keep going? That's kinda neat.

"I think so...but likely as...not when that...person dies, I'll...go as well. ...Its likely that...some quirk of...the Nexus is...why I have...a mind and...not just a...all cosuming focus...on killing that...person."

Or whoever made you screwed up. Always a possibility.

You could probably find something here that'll keep you around after you kill whoever you're supposed to kill.

Well, finding something...like that would...take a lot...of time. Not...many dark magic...things that give...life. And it...would need to...be something like...that. Well, I'll...let you watch....without thinking about...me.

Who said it had to be dark magic? Or give life? Could just be somebody looks into the structure of you and removes that part. Like coding.

Um, what is...coding? I don't...know what that...is.

El Cuervo looks a bit alarmed, messing around with the magic that gives it life could result in the magic leaving, which would end it.

Oh. So programs...are things on...computer? I have...seen those around...here, but I...don't really know...how they work. ...I always had...a henchman do...that for me.

It wasn't a high tech village, and while AMEN has a mix of high tech and dark sorcerery, El Cuervo was focused on only one of those.

Well, using a program is usually easy. Making one is a different matter.

Kinda like you, actually. Hard to make, easy to use.

Oh yeah. But then, everywhere is dangerous to some extent. Especially if I'm there.

((Oh, right. I was not posting. Actually, the reason is that I've been getting really busy frequently, so...sorry.))

Harley does not get the reference. She's heard it before, and so she should probably go look it up, but superhero comics just aren't her favorite books. (Romance novels are, actually...she used to have a bunch of those until Watchtower happened.)

Harley is, as it turns out, is left behind: she doesn't really follow them. Sure, what El Cuervo is doing and talking about sounds interesting; however, there's some things that Harley needs to take care of in the base.

For example, her room. She hasn't been there in a while, and she suddenly left without any warning, and so all of her things (if they haven't been ransacked by other members or who-knows-what) are probably still in disarray. If she happens to run into the Thing in the Walls, that would be a great, too. Plus...who knows what or who else she'll run into? This place changes itself enough that it will take a while to get used to its eldritch hallways and directions again.
