You can take the view that 0.5 rounds to 1, as is conventional, but that's no different to the current system of rounding up unit losses anyway.
Last I checked, only the loser's losses are rounded up; the winner is always rounded down. Besides that, due to the use of percentages for calculating the winner's losses, they could lose 1,800 units and it would still count as only one unit.

Those are based on the opening posts rules, which are probably out-of-date.

    Hello, again.
For someone who's not particularly reading the OOC thread I am posting quite a bit lately.

I had a suggestion to make related to certain sensitive topics with the concern that others may or may not be comfortable with reading things beyond a passing mention. I didn't really think it would come up until I noted the new religion, which involves ritualistic self-mutilation.

I'd like to suggest that those who wish to write stories containing subjects which may reasonably upset someone that these be tagged with warnings so that one can mentally prepare or avoid such subjects as necessary. (Also, keeping in mind forum rules and the like.) Such warnings are usually something along the lines of 'The following contains/deals with X Y Z.' EDIT - X Y Z could always be 'sensitive topics' if shock factor is important to the story.

Ah, anyway, I'll spirit away again. (Probably)

EDIT - Most importantly, however, I ask not for myself but for others and for more severe things such as the aforementioned self-mutilation, abuse, etc. Not something as mild as slavery.

Ah yeah, you're right about that (which has also reminded me I forgot to calculate base winners' losses for the battles against random NPC invaders; in the PvP battles the losses were all too small to matter...) I'll do that now.

I would hope the forum rules would help to prevent anything too graphic showing up in the first place, to be honest, beyond the bare fact of mentioning of it. That said I suppose if anyone's particularly sensitive there's children's literature out there that would presumably be forum-appropriate (children's literature, after all) that's still perfectly nightmare-inducing. (I think some Robin Jarvis stuff permanently traumatised me, and I'm not alone in that!)

I've always been kind of skeezy, in a general sense, about any kind of warning in a storytelling medium that gives away elements of the plot, particularly those meant to shock or surprise. How much less shocking would some of the events in this game have been if there had been warnings up front? That might just be my being a literary/etc. snob and fairly thick-skinned about what I'm prepared to put up with in a fictional environment, though. I might not enjoy graphic depictions of torture and mutilation - indeed I don't really, and the forum rules would prohibit such - but I wouldn't go so far as to say I was upset by it or to protest its inclusion in anything for my own sake, or insist I was warned, etc.

So I might not be the best judge. But in any case, inasmuch as you're asking for people to be considerate of others' RL sensibilities when writing fluff-stuff, I basically agree, (subject to all the previously discussions on the issues of slavery, etc.)

I think we have a Coronation event this round. From Morph. However, two events might be good, depending on how well one goes.

There was a lot of stuff, I think, in a specific events thread dealing with him, which I wasn't a part of, but something to do with letters sent to various rulers and their trying to capture him and either failing or only managing to catch a body double or the like.

He pitched up at the latest round of the Propinlonge council summit thing, demanding everyone recognise him as ruler of the world and so on and threatening to blow the building up. He'd also taken Tailong hostage. Things went fairly predictably from that point onwards. The thread might be worth a read if you get the chance (it picks up around page 3, most of what's before that is Salterri arguments); the complete refusal of some characters to behave in anything like a reasonable manner is kind of hilarious. Anyway, in the end Rongyao managed to kill Ridovo, although died in the process (Tailong was also killed, along with Opus Petrichor and a few "minor" characters).

Given the manner of his death and so on, Ridovo might not be dead, though.

Why anyone wants to follow him, I have absolutely no idea. He's a nutter.

I was just catching up on an old webcomic I used to read, and then came across a short storyline that starts here that made me really think about Guilder. (And people trying to convert each other.) It runs for a few pages and then it goes back to the main plot of that comic, but it is picked up again here. I thought it might be fun for some to read.

I also got some new ruler details that I'll just PM you, Wombat.

I have a monastary in Tar that produces Aeromancers- people capable of bending the winds to their desires. But not yet to the point of needing to make a rule or technology for them.

The last time I remembered seeing actual magic was Sisters Three vs Adam, and I didn't think it had advanced any further than that. I don't know how much there was before that, of course. I don't know anything about the apparent healing magic in the council thread, or whatever was going on with Ridovo's body.

Edit: I forgot about the aeromancers, of course, but they've been around for ages in one way or another.

Cantroth is a varied region. The region is an extremely mountainous region, except for a flat, medium sized oval in the center, used for mining purposes. The incessant mining has slowly turned much of the oval into a black wasteland. In the center of the oval is the massive Ode to Ovidions, the sheep god. It is 3 miles tall and is basically an eight legged, three headed sheep statue made from pure osmium. From the most Northenly point of Cantroth all the way to the South runs the Ovidion River, a 1 mile wide river running all the way through the region said to have been carved by Ovidions himself. To the far east of the Statue of Ovidions lies the capital of Cantroth, Anvigarde. Anvigarde is a huge city, twice the size of all the small villages scattered throughout Cantroth combined. It was built as a reminder to the people of what could be done if they had faith in Ovidions.

    People
    Spoiler
    Show
The people of Cantroth are known as Homirums. They closely resemble satyrs, with the legs of a goat, and a body and a head of a human's with horns growing out of it. Many live in Anvigarde, but others choose the quiet life, living mainly near the Ovidion River for water or near the Ode to Ovidion in the wastelands. Nearly everyone obtains their food from the sheep, a revered and sacred animal to them. They may only eat it after many blessings and thanks to Ovidions. If a Homirum doesn't own any sheep, they are shunned or even banned from society or public places. From the years of living on the mountains, Homriums have grown into strong willed, daring people who are one with the outdoors. However, since the building of Avingarde, some people have started to prefer the controllable conditions of the indoors.

    Resources
    Spoiler
    Show
The main resource of Cantroth is the sheep. It is used as food, currency, and clothing by everyone in the region. From the wastelands, though, they have managed to obtain vast quantities of osmium and oil. Most of their large buildings or structures are made from osmium because of its durability and strength. The oil is used for fire and fuel for people's homes. The people do depend heavily on imports of wood, as trees as a hard to find due to the high altitudes of the mountains and the wastelands.

    Religion
    Spoiler
    Show
The main religion is Cantroth is Ovidianism. The people follow the readings of the Great Book, which tells them to, in short, treat others kindly and fairly unless provoked. They believe that Ovidions will always lead them to peace, victory, and glory if they follow and listen to him.

May I get this approved per chance?

As for backreading, I've done most of it...Lots of PMs, threads, and OOC to go through.
No joke. Leave for a week, read for a day.

I also got some new ruler details that I'll just PM you, Wombat.
Does it ever continue later on in the webcomic? That's so awesomely Guilderene...

Because this has never gone wrong in the history of any fantasy world.

IN other news: I'm leaderless... what do I do for rolls/bonuses? I used Inigo's curiosity bonus on my Cur Check, under the rationale that it's the Fiassas who are doing most of the investigations anyway, and they didn't go anywhere. I'd like some help clarifying though.

I believe you'll need to roll a regent's stats (unless Doge's follow something similar to Qzare law where if they're captured they stop being Doges in which case you can just roll for your next in line) As for whether you'd use Inigo's or the Regent/Heir's stats this round seeing as this was a capture announced in this round's opening I'm not sure. I suppose checking what happened when Wandao was captured and whether his stats were used the next round or Hanyeo's were might be good for getting a historical lock on things though I'm not sure if the Salterri, being NPC at the time, were tracked as closely on who was leading them and what scores were being used.

As a sidenote, does Guilder law still follow that the richest Merchant Prince becomes Doge with that usually being the heir of the previous Merchant Prince since they inherit their father's holdings or did that change/was never actually a thing?

Also, since no new Luck system has been proposed I too shall vote for Luck this round. (Actually the luck voting thing was working decently just no one knew when to cut it off and declare winners and by the time it was apparent no one was voting anymore I think everyone, or at least I did, forgot to address it since we'd moved on to other things)

Yeah, the Luck system fell into disrepair after the votes weren't tallied - and last round the votes weren't cast, possibly out of confusion - but that system hasn't been changed that I know of.

On which note (all for actions of varying integrity, interest and amusement at the Council):
    - WaylanderX
    - TheDarkDM
    - Rizban

The Salterri didn't take any actions in the round after Wandao's capture that required rolling, unfortunately.

(What happened to those 13,000 ships!? I guess the zombies got them).
