To be honest, using it as a swear is the LEAST common way I've heard it. Much more common are using it to mean "illegitimate" or as a type of sword.

This, definitely this. Though bastard in context of the sword is also pretty common. But we are on a D&D forum.

I say "you lucky bastard" all the time, but I've only used bastard once in the context of an illegitimate child -- a 6th grade essay on Alexander Hamilton. Although if Razanir is in the Middle Ages, he'd better worry about the Black Plague. I heard it's like Ebola, but worse! Think of all the hearsay surrounding the current Ebola outbreak, and multiply it by 100! Godspeed, Razanir. Godspeed.

In Australia, your best friend is "a total bastard", while your worst enemy is just "a bit of a bastard".

When Clive Marks videoed a pair of common wombats mating in the wild, courtship began with the male chasing the female as she trotted about, forming circles and figures of eight. Every so often, she would slow down to let the male catch up. After chasing for about 2 minutes, the male gave the female's tough rump a hard bite. The female stopped, and the male held her hindquarters with his forelimbs and rolled her onto her side to mount her. During mating, the female rolled back into a prone position; after several minutes, she broke free. The chasing behavior began again, and the wombats, over 25 minutes, repeated this sequence seven times.

    In random assorted news:
    * I recently learned that gender-differentiated clothing in kids is only as old as the 20th century. Before then, everyone under about 7 wore dresses. I smell unique campaign setting.
    * I'm learning waterbending tai chi on the internet.
    * I attempted to carve the ring inscription into a pumpkin. But I got paranoid about if the translucent effect would work, and like the dwarves, I dug too deep. It caved in. And possibly released a pumpkin-balrog into my dorm.

Makes sense. Small children grow fast - a long dress becomes a short dress, but still fits and is decent when the waist of some pants would have long needed letting out.

Now you have to go on a journey to all three other websites to master all the elements! I'm pretty sure that there's a list out there that shows which elements correspond to which real-life fighting styles that they were based off of. If you wanted, you actually could learn all 4.

Welcome back! I hope you've had the time of your life!

Myself, I'm learning more about programming and myself than ever. For example, if I'm working with a mind-numbingly boring assignment which just seems impossible to focus on, there actually exists a sweet spot for a few hours in the middle of the night in which I'm just tired enough to lose my ability to feel bored, thus suddenly achieving superhuman focus. I've also learned so many new programming techniques and half of it is way far removed from what my courses try to teach me.
    ...
I think I might be overdoing this a bit.

I also broke my record for the longest time awake a pair of weeks ago, and I'm actually all-nighting now as well, but right now it's only because I need to reset my sleep schedule before my first exam next Monday.

Everyone has those. Sino-Japanese adds Metal (sorry, Toph). Greek adds Aether. Hindu adds Spirit. They probably went with those four, yes to make it more accessible, but possibly also because everyone agrees on those four.

Not quite true - if memory serves, the Sino-Japanese system lacks air, and replaces it with wood and metal, not just metal.

Wood includes air. And ironically for AtLA, lighting is actually included in water. (Or so claims Wikipedia for the latter)
