    Default Arkenpliers [spoiler]

Why do I get the feeling that the Arkenpliers won't attune to Stanley any more than they'll attune to Ansom. I'm starting to wonder if they won't end up attuning to PARSON.

I think you're probably right, however, I wouldn't be surprised if wand gets them.

Nice theory. Of course, we don't actually know what powers the Arkenpliers possess--one assumes it isn't dwagon control, because that's what the Arkenhammer does. (And it creates pigeons from nuts, but that's probably a minor side-effect ).

It think that Parson will take the Arkenpliers and assassinate Stanley. After all, he refers to Stanley as 'tool', and Stanley is the only thing preventing him from ruling his own kingdom...

I love this thread. Erfworld and Bill Clinton jokes, rolled into one!

Now, I think the Arkenpliers have power over the dead. Remember what Ansom said- they reduce Uncroaked to dust in a single hit? The Arkenhammer rules over Dwagons and commands them. I'm going to hazard a guess here, and state that maybe, even if you aren't attuned to the Arkenhammer, it would make a bloody effective weapon against dragons- I don't know why, but it makes sense in my head.

Perhaps the Arkenpliers work on the same principle? Destroys/banishes Undead and, in the hand of someone attuned to them, commands Uncroaked.

Wouldn't it be awesome if, after the battle, Stanley can raise up everyone who fought against him into an invincible Uncroaked army? That would rock!

Sure, Wanda's a Croakamancer, but I'm sure an Arkentool would have much greater powers than she would.

Alternatively, the Arkenpliers might have a "holy" type- they destroy Uncroaked because they rule over what would be classified as "holy" or "cleric" abilities in other games, though Holy and Unholy mean different things in Erfworld. (Stanley FTW!)

It might command over angelic-type beings, or celestials, or whatever is the Erfworld equivalent to anti-Undead.

    Any other thoughts?

Uncroaked beings, at least in Erfworld, have a decay factor, so despite the claim of invincibility, they will literally fall apart as time passes. I've made light of zombification (uncroaking) in a thread I posted in the OoTS forum.

If that was it, why would it matter whether or not the target was uncroaked? A living person would also turn to dust after a really long time (the only difference is that they'd die and then decay instead of starting to decay immediately).

I would imagine it would take greater focus (magic, concentration jedi mind tricks) to plier a creature who is live versus one who is undead...

Since the arkentools are special and parson is "out of his world" I'm guessing that parson is going to have a unique relationship with them. Such as they all do nothing for him or he can use them all with impunity.

The arkenpliers are almost certainly Wanda's, if they're related to controlling undead.

Naturally, that would mean Sizemore would get an Arkenshovel.

Ansom would get... the Arkenknife? Or would that belong to Jillian?

As for Bogroll... the Arkensoap, naturally.

I say the Arkenpliers can yank a soul out creating an uncroaked or vise-versa destroying uncroaked. Wanda will get this one but Bogroll Will get one and overthrow Stanley Ansom and anyone else who gets in his way.

I rather thing Sizemore is set up to be the Unlikely Candidate who receives some kind of boon.... but we have yet to see his role in the plot. I suspect that will become a lot more clear once we see what happens with the EyeBook and stuff. I would have suggested Bogroll as a Possible Plier Recipient before his role as Parson-sized aide came up and his purpose to the comic became more clear.

However, I am not so sure it would be a good thing for someone other than Stanley to get attuned to a tool. Sounds like a great way for Stanley to immediately kill that person.
