Not really - the portal would've closed when the city was conquered anyway, and Sizemore couldn't go through while it was an enemy portal.

It seems unnecessarily cruel in fact. This is not fitting of Parson who is only cruel when it provides a strategic advantage.

I, for one, am interested in the new Jojo, and somewhat surprised that he seems to have cared so much about Sylvia. It's nice that carnymancers haven't just been turned into the "evil caster" group, though of course I never thought Rob would go that route.

Well, uh, we'll see. Personally I don't trust Jojo here. It's one thing to want to know about an old friend; it's another to offer information of genuine military significance in exchange for satisfying that curiosity. That makes the deal look too good to be true, and when a Carnie offers you a deal that's too good to be true, it probably is.

(I don't think that they were ever presented as "evil casters", but trickery and deception and cheating is what they do -- it's their skillset, so it's always going to be how they fight. I mean, it's how Parson fights, too, but either way it still means it makes sense to be more cautious about a deal offered by Jojo. At the very least I'd make him swear a binding oath that he isn't requesting this information in an attempt to help Charlie or to hurt Parson's side in any way; the danger of cutting any sort of deal directly with one of Charlie's main associates seems too high otherwise.)

I'm guessing it's not something that happens that often. I doubt casters are too common and neither are heirs, so the likelihood of popping one that's both is pretty low. The cost to make someone an heir is pretty expensive, so not many would want to do so if it's not worth the money, and I'm guessing casters don't have too many advantages that would make them worth being a ruler/potential ruler instead of a vassal. I can see why warlords would be favoured to become heirs, because they'd have experience leading.

I think the only advantage would be that you don't have to ground your best warlord by promoting him to ruler. Neither casters nor rulers ever (should) leave the capital. A Lookamancer, Thinkamancer or Findamancer will stay at home anyway. But a caster doesn't have much knowledge of strategies and political intrigue, so he isn't designed to fill this role.
Also, there might be a personal level. As you said, it is not very likely that a heir (or royal warlord) is popped as a caster, so you caster wouldn't be on of the "children" of a king or queen, so most rulers wouldn't even have the choice to designate a family member that is a caster as heir.

Given the way much of the world views decryption - with Jojo's own former ruler having gone so far as to end her side to spare them from it - he might not see this as such a bad thing.

It's just an annoying redirect. Let it time out (12seconds or so) and it sends you on to the real comic. Annoying as hell though, with no skip option.

I thought that was probably how it worked for most people. For me, the timer goes to zero, then resets to twelve. No fun at all.

It was in-my-face enough that once I got to the comic, I still felt distracted by it. A poor advertising strategy, in my opinion.

The Comic Genesis hosted comics are all dead to me because I don't have referers set and switching it on and off isn't easy enough to make that an option, I suspect this is the same though it also might be not allowing cookies that's doing it in this case.
