    Default Elite Dangerous

Have not seen a thread on this so thought i would start one.

The official version got released today, no idea if any of the Playground are playing but if your interested I'm going to be in a Roleplay private group (as opposed to solo or open)
If this grabs your interest then post a bio in the following thread and request to join the group in game.

Of course if anyone has any questions just ask :)

Oh, sweet. I backed the Kickstarter for this, excited to see if it lives up to the hype. Do you know where to go to get the download?

Yep, I found it. Downloaded both the game and the training thing, but the Sidewinder is absolutely wrecking me! I'm pretty sure it doesn't have capped laser heat like I do, he can somehow put out sustained fire for so much longer than me.

This game really needs a better tutorial than "here's the button that shoots bullets, go."

There are some non-combat tutorials you can play when you start the actual game. As for combat, I find it's a lot easier if you have gimballed weapons in your hardpoints, because those will automatically track the target within certain limits, reducing the requirement to exactly line up with the enemy before firing. Disadvantages are that gimballed weapons are generally less powerful than fixed mount ones, and their targeting can be confused by the target dispensing chaff.

I was commited to get this game on launch, until they removed single player offline mode. It was going to be my time waster at my work's pc. Now i'll wait for other players reviews and depending on them choose between either wait for a sale, or skipping it entirely.

Just curious, what made you go with Elite:Dangerous over Star Citizen? Not starting a flame war, both seem fun. I'm holding out for Chris Roberts' (creator of wing commander/privateer/freelancer) SC, personally.

Why does it have to be one or the other? Star Citizen isn't likely to be released for at least another year or two, whereas Elite: Dangerous is out now. Play both!

I remember seeing Elite on my friends BBC and being amazed, I later got it on specy and later versions.
It has lots of fond memories for me.
