    While I do agree that baseball players are basically pansies (look at the rules and regulations on sliding), there's a perfectly valid reasoning for the "hit with the ball" rule. Think about it. If you can repeatedly smash a ball at 100+ mph into the arm/head of the other team's batter, how likely is he to ever actually get to swing the bat? Pitching strategy would change to: abuse the other team's batters until the opposition is forced into forfeiting the game, since all of their players are hospitalized now. This falls under the general heading of "Over-competitive" that applies so heavily to Americans.

    The thing is that was valid tactic in cricket( see Bodyline), it means your team's in danger of being skinned alive in the parking lot and cause international incidents and was only used cause the British team was utterly incapable of winning with any semblance of fairplay and too pathetic to take losing to their colonial betters but it was legal and used.
