Re: EMPIRE! CWBG XIV: To Heir is Human - To Faith 10, Divine
PEPPERP
Darrel Grant to Marry Princess Gatalea Starridge. Pepper, they can be your characters if you want, travelling the world. Or they can be mine, I just need age and description. I will confirm it this round, saying she ran off with him after the Grand Ball and it took a couple of years for them to finally have the ceremony.
WAYLANDER
Li Mako to marry Joanna Airguard of the Hurosha Empire. Waylander, he’s yours to do with what you want. He was born in 497, and was the adopted son of Li Bolin, so he is pretty much pure Salterri looking, but with a tan from decades on ships. We can fluff that he went off with her after the ball to work 'as friends' and it grew from there.
As far as the older girls, they decided not to get married at all, and continue their Licentious and lascivious lifestyle.Last edited by lt_murgen; 2015-05-19 at 12:44 PM.

Re: EMPIRE! CWBG XIV: To Heir is Human - To Faith 10, Divine
That's probably what caused the death of their mother. Have they no shame!?
When I pressed reply I thought there was something there for me, but maybe I misremember. In any case, yes, Selwyn would appear basically human. I haven't actually identified her mother, which could conceivably give her more elfin features, but I'm not terribly fussed either way.GITP Blood Bowl Manager Cup

Re: EMPIRE! CWBG XIV: To Heir is Human - To Faith 10, Divine
Trades for last round. As usual, please let me know if there are any errors or issues.
I'll also make my semi-regular plea to please give me as much information as possible in the action post as to trades. In particular it's useful to know which region a resource is coming from (even if you don't know where it's going to exactly) and ideally the region number as well in case I don't have that region otherwise recorded (mainly an issue with relatively recently-occupied regions, admittedly).
For instance, if the trade is simply listed as "trade Heliotropic Childergoats for Divining Phlugnuponies" then I have to track down which region has each of those resources. On the other hand noting even that your resource originates in Zooland, even if you don't know whether it's going to Zinj or to Mordor, is a real help especially when there are a lot of trades to do.
I am unusually grumpy at the moment (for reasons not to do with the game) which has likely meant that missing information has aggravated me more than usual during the trade updates, but the above would be nice in any case.

Skype chat is actually 89% blather and 10% "hey, let's talk about Empire in a different one-on-one chat". There is that rare 1% of the time where everyone is discussing current affairs, but it's not often.
I tend to make my formal requests here, and go to Skype for "Hey, can any help me find the post that has [insert thing I want to find]."
Also, in case people were not aware, school sucks. And by sucks, I mean, is almost over. Which is great... but the last week sucks. That is all.SpoilerBladeofObliviom said:

Re: EMPIRE! CWBG XIV: To Heir is Human - To Faith 10, Divine
Planning to introduce a new technology either this round or next round, so:
Sharixian Steel [Met] (+1 to Battle Checks); Sharixian Foundry and Iron
Sharixian steelworkers, with the aid of a state-of-art foundry, begin producing steel of a remarkable quality and of a distinctive appearance.
Adaption Suggestions: Any metal foundry Project that brings together the best and brightest of a region can be adapted to replace a Sharixian Foundry, though it would be hard to see how you’d replace Iron as a requirement, though any mundane metal could be used.
It's basically Damascus Steel."Everyfing I see is mine. All da uvver bits are mine too - I just ain't got there yet." - Grimgor Ironhide

Re: EMPIRE! CWBG XIV: To Heir is Human - To Faith 10, Divine
While I have no particular problem with the technology, I've always felt that if you're going to make the principal required resource for a technology Iron then one might as well not bother: like Wood it's so common that almost everyone has it as a matter of course, although I guess there are one or two people who subsist on Bronze and in this instance the distinction is important.
The Great Project requirement is perhaps a bit onerous, when compared to the other +1 metallurgic techs that only require possession of the resource (themselves not that hard to get hold of these days) but then to justify iron having the same effect as mithril or adamantine it's probably not entirely unfair.
While I'm on the subject, I might as well also make the point (to a general audience) that while great project (or minor project) requirements on technologies are increasingly common they are not a default prerequisite and the introduction of a tech doesn't itself require any kind of project. Often/usually they do make sense where it's happened so far, but great projects are also something of a luxury which only a handful of players can afford - usually the longer-serving ones with empires and federations. The project requirement thus effectively acts as a lock on the technology's use in the same way that an exclusive resource does (except that the resource can be circumvented with a single Cur5 action and a project always takes five): if you want to restrict circulation that might be a benefit, but it also makes the technology (imo) less valuable to allies and trading partners.
A GP requirement on an otherwise indifferent technology will probably therefore have an effect on its market value. There will always be a degree of demand, of course, as some players want to possess the technologies even if they don't use them, but techs they're not going to use are basically just cosmetic, so they're less likely to want to trade something good for them.Last edited by Aedilred; 2015-05-21 at 10:26 PM.

Re: EMPIRE! CWBG XIV: To Heir is Human - To Faith 10, Divine
I was just thinking of what the EMPIRE! OOC threads used to be, especially as they moved faster than Random Banter threads at some point. I think the chat about previous EMPIRE! things, ideas for current and new projects and trade helped a lot? Quite a bit of it has moved into the Skype, which is a real shame if you ask me.
Does anyone remember what was talked about back then? Thinking about it may help with ideas/topics to put some more activity back into the OOC thread, and if it was in fact ideas for current and new things then I think it's important that such things are discussed here as well as Skype and PMs so more people can see and contribute to the world-building.
For example, I can name something that has been noted in the round opener by this stage and did come up in the Skype chat which starts with a K, but I don't remember seeing it here.
Hello Togo! Welcome!
I know you haven't asked for information about the NPC nations, but if you would like some I know there was a thread here with useful information on taking up a NPC nation as your post seems to imply you're looking to do. The only thing of note is Fera is no longer an NPC and I believe there are some new ones. Also, sheesh, Haljans are more like scorpion-lizard-people than scorpion-men anyway. :P :P
EDIT - I linked the thread because I noticed it wasn't on the front page. Would it be useful there for potential new players?

Welcome Togo!
If you choose to go with an NPC nation, great! You'll have a firmly established region (or three!) already, which is a great leg up.
If, however, you want to start as your own region, and wish to do so in an area that will allow for expansion more readily then some... Might I encourage you to join me Under the Sea? Underwater areas are the thing for allowing a new player to get their own great kingdom from start to finish... And starting soon, not only will PADL (Protection of Aquatic Dwellers League) have great benefits for you, but the Regnum of Praeclarus will soon be able to (officially) have Vassals!
...which brings up a good point. @Everyone, I will officially be accepting your submissions to be Vassals next round. REJOICE, and ALL HAIL PRAECLARUS. ALL HAIL JONGO.SpoilerBladeofObliviom said:

Re: new player
I will offer you two alternatives. One is my vassal nation of Novrania and Conjelado Anillo. They are NPC now. Info is here.
If you are interested in playing Nomads, you could (with Quinton's approval) take over the Free Alliance of Trading Ships which is a group I created and used at various times. A sea carried nomad group could be really interesting.Keeper of the 49 Rules.

Hello! While of course you can do anything my fellow posters have suggested from here, I'll encourage taking over an NPC because the GM has too many right now and we're at least making a shallow attempt to avoid driving him insane. So I'll just endorse Rain here:
