Re: Darths and Droids V: Thread IV Was Eaten By Dogs
The Sarlacc is a plant/animal-hybrid, with roots and a nervous system, that grows from spores that apparently fly through space (Tales from Jabba’s Palace mentions a sarlacc that lives on a atmosphere-less moon) and it develops a consciousness if it eats enough sentient lifeforms. Not to mention that the things live several thousand years.
That they take their time when they eat someone because they want to talk with them is the least problem."If it lives it can be killed.
If it is dead it can be eaten."

I really hope I will get to use that last line with some real world context someday.

There's a new one. I admit that that is a weird thing to get insurance on.

Cutting that line was a good move. It's humancentric and doesn't work without medieval notions of legitimacy and property.

Re: Darths and Droids V: Thread IV Was Eaten By Dogs
...what?
So long as the DM doesn't establish that Hutts breed asexually, it isn't humancentric at all. And, just for example, the "Knight" part of "Jedi Knight" doesnt work without the medieval notions of chivalry and honor. And tons of other words, I'm sure. Both of your objections make no sense.
Cuting the line was a good move, but because it was too wordy of a closer and wasnt worth the payoff in hilarity.Last edited by Peelee; 2015-10-01 at 11:08 PM.

Without the Eurocentric obsession over legitimacy-by-marriage-based-reproduction, the word bastard becomes meaningless except as a general insult. In which case, saying 'frogface' has more punch, as would Jabba's follow up line "I have frog on my face?"

Re: Darths and Droids V: Thread IV Was Eaten By Dogs
New comic.
R2 wants Lando to catch the lasersword? Well, we will see how that works out.
I wouldn't be surprised if Pete's first plan for the lasersword-cannon was to use it to attack Jabba."If it lives it can be killed.
If it is dead it can be eaten."

Yesh, one bad accident and suddenly a weapon gets a terrible reputation around it. It's like a game of hot potato now.
Don't know your name but bring the pain.

Re: Darths and Droids V: Thread IV Was Eaten By Dogs
One bad accident?
Which one do you mean?
Considering how many people got cut in pieces with laser swords the reputation is entirely justified.
It is a shame that the only party members that could use the light saber right now aren’t crazy enough to do so. It seems R2’s effort to build it will have been in vain and the sarlacc will slice Luke and Han in pieces. Maybe 3PO or Leia would have been the better choice."If it lives it can be killed.
If it is dead it can be eaten."

Re: Darths and Droids V: Thread IV Was Eaten By Dogs
Have there actually been any cases of a PC accidentally hurting themselves with a laser sword though? Like this whole thing seems to have started from Luke deciding they're crazy, not as a result of any actual injuries incurred (excepting those caused by an enemy's weapon).
If my text is blue, I'm being sarcastic. But you already knew that, right?

Corey might not have known about this, but remember why Jim's characters don't have laser swords anymore?

Re: Darths and Droids V: Thread IV Was Eaten By Dogs
"What plan?" is the right question there. What am I saying? When Jim is involved it is always the right question.
Luke's little stunt there almost went wrong. It seems the sarlacc won't get to play with the heroes. Oh well, I think Jabba will be entertained either way."If it lives it can be killed.
If it is dead it can be eaten."

Re: Darths and Droids V: Thread IV Was Eaten By Dogs
I meant Luke never used it again in "Star Wars", the first movie, and that it was a little strange in the movie that he didn't. He gets his magical sword and then never uses it. Although the training scene was more about learning to use the Force than the lightsabre, and that did get a payoff.

Re: Darths and Droids V: Thread IV Was Eaten By Dogs
Did they do an "A-Team" strip yet? I would like to nominate it for being perfect for them to do. Something about Jim saying "I love it when a plan comes together" made me realize that he would be a perfect Hannibal Smith. Wait, in the movie, Hannibal Smith is played by Liam Neeson, who played Qui-gon Jinn in The Phantom Menace! Obviously it is meant to be!

Re: Darths and Droids V: Thread IV Was Eaten By Dogs
New Comic.
I'm not sure Luke knows what he is doing. Cutting a wookie's hair with a laser sword is a bad idea, the smell never goes away.
Not to mention the poor guy he beheaded in the process. I thought he knew how dangerous those things are.
And one of the mooks takes his chances with the sarlacc. He choose badly."If it lives it can be killed.
If it is dead it can be eaten."

Well it seems like a quick and painless death. I'd take that over getting hacked up by a laser sword and laying around waiting for organ failure to kill me.
If God had wanted you to live he would not have created me!

Re: Darths and Droids V: Thread IV Was Eaten By Dogs
Reminder: A Sarlac kills its prey slowly over centuries. A light saber if you're lucky decapitates you. Or burns of parts of your body, which I guess is a bit more gruesome but still way better than being a sar-snack. (No, I'm not sorry)
Well, good thing my players are always like the minions should be... too scared to actually go into battle unless they know the enemy has no chance. Considering most often the minions do outnumber the heroes they should be confident to win, unless they are super genre savvy.
