Wow, this railroading of Sprig is pretty fast. I hate to go after a newby to GitP Werewolf, so I guess I'll point at
AvatarVecna, as he's not quite as new, and Visor was the first to point.
AvatarVecna, why did you jump on this bandwagon so quickly?

Re: Middle Earth WW: The Two Towers
Wait. Indarra, what about those orcs who wanted to eat Mary and Pipin?
Granted, that's two orcs out of millions, but... huh. I guess I just answered my own question.Spoiler: Check Out my Writing!

Re: Middle Earth WW: The Two Towers
Orcs? Lemme see how well I can answer this.
In the prologue-ish scene from Fellowship, those orcs are the ones who just tried to conquer the world. They got pretty far along before the Last Alliance pushed them back into Mordor.
In Journey's Moria battle, fair point, I suppose. It was abandoned. The raiding pack slain by elves, though? Raiding party. Outfit for war, shouting battle cries and brandishing weapons? Yeah I don't want that near my house. Especially when the Orc's lands are northwest of there, in the mountains, and the Warg "homeland" is on the other side of them. Then the goblins capture the dwarves for coming about as close to their halls as the wargers did to Rivendell. Unwittingly in both cases, btw. And these goblins are big into torture. Invent new torture devices for fun. No quick execution for their enemies, nope. Gotta bring out the bonecrushers and skinflayers first.
Then in Desolation, said fort is a military outpost and said orcs are using to 1) harbor a demonic* war criminal and 2) prepare for war. And they torture Gandalf too. Then, at the river, this is very clearly Wood-Elven territory, and the orcs are clearly commiting an act of war. Then, in Laketown, they attack these dwarves who have basically been trying to get away from them for two movies. Legolas is pretty safe from cheesing off the Master because no human, dwarf or elf has hired orc mercenaries in the multi-millennia history of ever.
Now, say you've got a few policemen outside a house where a murderer is hiding out. Then four truckloads of mafia hitmen, all armed, show up and say, "We wanna get that guy too." Nobody needs four truckloads of tommy guns to get one guy. And no one needs two armies to get fourteen dwarves. And the Eagles have the same stake as anyone who'd rather not live in an orc-ruled world.
In Fellowship proper, the Moria orcs get one charge of consorting with a demon. The Uruks are so eager to taste manflesh they have to be ordered to leave the hobbits alive. Even then, they try to murder each other over them, ans only fail because the Rohirrim patrol kills them for trespassing while geared for war.
In Towers, the Uruks are indeed in Rohan. They were never exiled because they didn't exist until Saruman started dabbling in eugenics. The Dunlendings were exiled, and they do have a case, but they don't show up in the movies. And those Uruks not in the raid on the Fellowship? They're an invading army. I'd say that's as good a reason as you get. As for the trees, most states don't consider trees to be life as valuable as a human life. The Uruks betrayed the Ents' principles all over the friggin' place.
And in Return, yep, open warfare.
*Literally, just about.

Re: Middle Earth WW: The Two Towers
I think Indarra meant the Rohirrim were banished from Rohan, for being loyal to it or something like that. Grima Womtongue being a jerk.
Anyway, Luizeu, you pointed at me for no reason at all. And that's technically valid for day one. I don't really like Day One. Has a wolf/nazgul/assassin ever been lynched D1?
No Lynch.Last edited by Xihirli; 2015-08-08 at 11:20 PM.

Re: Middle Earth WW: The Two Towers
No Lynch is terrible because we go into the next day with about the same level of information.
You need to lynch every day unless the numbers suggest otherwise.

Xihirli, there was no reason for voting on you
Until now...
The lynch is the only power town has. Advocating that people just don't lynch is absurd. If I hadn't already voted on you I would vote now.
No lynch brings us nowhere closer to finding wolves. Lynching does. A chance of = number of wolves/25Last edited by Luizeu; 2015-08-08 at 11:03 PM.

Re: Middle Earth WW: The Two Towers
Without actually having read through Indarra's entire post yet, I'd just like to point out that Tolkien was uncomfortable with his own portrayal of the Orcs as Always Chaotic Evil.
Also,Luizeufor living in a tower and therefore clearly being one of the bad guys.
Or, y'know, because it's day 1 and I don't feel like finding a random number generator.Last edited by Elenna; 2015-08-09 at 07:37 PM.

Re: Middle Earth WW: The Two Towers
That's a common misconception most tower dwellers are princesses, loners and lighthouse keepers. Tolkien had lot of prejudices.

Re: Middle Earth WW: The Two Towers
With 25 players, there is around probably 5 wolves in this game (I'm used to saying scum so I might slip occasionally).
GITP normally has a cop and a fool, doctor, roleblocker on at least the mafias side.

Re: Middle Earth WW: The Two Towers
I have never been in a game where D1 got a wolf. Every time we lynched someone D1 it brought the wolves closer to victory. So, for advocating not doing part of the wolves' job for them... I am proving myself a wolf? That... that may be the worst argument I've ever heard. But if you insist...

Re: Middle Earth WW: The Two Towers
The last LOTR game had a wolf lynched D1.
It happens reasonably often.
By NOT lynching d1 you are less closer to finding a wolf
you haven't narrowed down the possibility or chances. You have no leads or flips to work off. Lynch info is what the town needs.
No more talk of no lynch, tis a waste d1.

Re: Middle Earth WW: The Two Towers
Personally I think the no lynch thing is less wolf-like and more just sloppy village play. I think I'm gonna throw a vote onto AvatarVecna for 'keeping their mouth shut' when asked to explain their voting pattern. This is liable to change if we get some justification.

Re: Middle Earth WW: The Two Towers
If we were dealing (only) with classic roles, we'd know that. What we do know is that we specifically don't know that. Might be kind of silly to expect to only see all those same things and we might even be looking at a situation where not all of them are in play and other things are.

Re: Middle Earth WW: The Two Towers
Its a mafia game on gitp, I'm pretty sure we will see standard roles in addition to new/different ones.
