Was Yuki always this much of an idiot bimbo caricature and I didn't notice, or is this new? I know she scattered weebish Japanese-isms into speech before, but these lines about "I will soon make a good Japanese wife!" like was she ever preoccupied with being married? Why would she refer to herself as a Japanese wife? And in this most recent one using a cringey English-to-Japanese-to-English pronunciation of something she's never really had an issue with, especially when "cream filled choco-eclair deluxe" goes off without a hitch. "Maybe I try double-barrel" like now she's dropping the articles in her sentences like she can't speak English? The third-person self-referral? Was she ALWAYS this annoying and I just never noticed, or did the writing take a horrific nosedive?

I remember that Yuki decided that she had genuine feelings for Gary and decided that she needed to get over her phallophobia in order to be able to... I dunno, appease him? Service him? I'm not sure, it was some kind of weird, unrelentingly submissive "perfect Japanese wife" mentality, because just "being his girlfriend" was apparently completely out of the question.

So Kiley introduced her to Matt as a 'designated target'; the goal being to see him nude and not murder him.... And also to get the both away from Kiley, who had realised just how in-over-her-head she was trying to 'help' Yuki.

Then we went through all that wrestling nonsense, which admittedly does feel weirdly similar to brain damage.... and now Yuki and Matt are a couple who have sex and host friends for dinner?

To answer your question Nettlekid, yes - Yuki has always been this detached from reality. When we first met her she was obsessed with Zii to a psychopathic level, carried nunchuks in her pocket with which to attack people, and would slip between English and Japanese on a whim; on one occasion, apparently deliberately because she realised that cute little Japanese girls were Gary's 'type' and she wanted something from him (Either that or she was COMPLETELY oblivious to his preferences and just coincidentally happened to hit the right note at exactly the right moment, which is fitting with her oblivious-to-males personality). Oh, and of course she would hallucinate and go into a Berzerker Rage every so often.

She has recently become very earnest in wanting to be a "perfect Japanese wife", so I think she's intentionally trying to be 'genki' because that's what she thinks Gary likes.... Which I too find incredibly annoying, but apparently it is A Thing.

I kind of like the wrestling nonsense. It's absolutely stupid, as it's been over thirty years probably since the last time anyone in training had to be smartened up to the fact that wrestling isn't legit, but it's an almost endearing kind of stupid when it isn't completely overtaken by the romantic machinations of the wrestlers trying to manipulate each other and Didi.

This is Peggy's first appearance. She and her boyfriend at the time were at a restaurant at the table next to Sonya and Erik (the former who was quite drunk). Apparently Peggy's boyfriend refused to go down on her, Sonya mentioned Gary was really good at that, one thing led to another...

Gods know where anybody gets "airline stewardess" from. Anyhow, she's not only an Only Sane Woman, she's actually the only member of the cast with an excuse for acting like an Ma3 character. With her, it's stress relief.

And the cast page was some way out of date when last I looked, but the comic's tags system, which is used solely for character names, is a pretty good way of tracking character past appearances.

Poor Zii... But in her defense, it's not easy to control your emotions even if you know they are bad. It's a sad reality than sometimes things that make your partner / friends happy, are things that make you said. Life sucks that way.

You know, I like today's strip.
Like back when Didi discovered her orgasms with Kiley, because she was opening up about her feelings, Zii realizes her sex drive isn't just tied to Didi being a sex goddess, but more so to connecting with a person via common interests and a bond of mutual affection.
