Well, Cloister specifically blocks divination, communication, and transportation magic. Animal Messenger is an Enchantment spell.

Of course, I could imagine a GM ruling that Cloister would still block the part of the spell that allows the birds to actually locate Haley, Belkar, and Roy, calling it a divination in itself. But maybe that's not how magic works, Iuhnno.

I just realized that O-Chul is referring to the Sapphire guard and Miko in the last panel of 549. At least I assume so. Am I right? I always assumed it was an off-comic childhood thing.

Is it too soon to say, I just noticed in the first panel of #1027, that V, Belkar, and Blackwing can be seen flying toward the Mechane. I missed it the first 5 times I read the strip, because I was focused on the speech bubble.

Also, there's a ladder dangling from the ship's underside. I can't figure if that indicates she's still "parked", or if the ship is still getting underway and the last step is pulling the ladder up.

V turning him/her self invisible while peeing doesn't take a spell slot every day; V only has to pee every few weeks.

In 690, Belkar is reading the book Dune, which the sandworm is a reference to, but I didn't realize that he wasn't talking about the sandworm when he says "Don't lean in! He's got a poison tooth!"

He's actually reading Duke Leto Atreides' death scene, and he's concerned for the villain, who was in danger from the Duke's poison tooth.

    Mind. Blown.
This makes such absolutely perfect sense, it just rewrote my headcanon.

I had thought he was doing something incredibly meta... I thought he was reading the Monster Manual entry, and asking Vaarsuvius to keep him away from the worm's poison tooth, as he hung over its mouth. (I will state up front that I have possibly not read the Purple Worm entry in 25 years... so I have no idea if they actually have a poison tooth or not.)

This is exactly the kind of thing some of my players do whenever they encounter a monster... look it up. They justify it by rolling Knowledge checks, then crack open the book.

Two things about Miko's visit to the High Priestess of Thor:

At 368 Miko was talking about a priest, not a priestess.

At 375 HPoT's letter is surprisingly informal for someone who hardly remember Durkon's name.

Ahaha, thank you. That panel never quite worked with the "poison sandworm tooth" interpretation.

The HPoT also refers to herself as "high priest of Thor" in the letter in #375, so she doesn't seem to be overly attached to the "-ess" part. Technically, priest is a gender-neutral term that is only gendered by the the "-ess" ending.

In Panel 1 of 430, the damage Roy's sword did to the dragon is no longer there. By panel 2, its back.
“Evil is evil. Lesser, greater, middling, it's all the same. Proportions are negotiated, boundaries blurred. I'm not a pious hermit, I haven't done only good in my life. But if I'm to choose between one evil and another, then I prefer not to choose at all.”

I went back to 429 to check out the blow and initial damage, and it's inconsistent too. In page 2, panel 4, as Roy swings the sword, the big wound it makes is there. The next panel, it's gone.

Also, I checked all comics up to 442 (when the dragon is destroyed), and the damage is consistent from 430, panel 2 forwards... but in both 441 and 442, where the dragon is shown from the opposite side, both wounds Roy caused are flipped as if the scene were mirrored from previous appearances.

Haha i finally found something worth mentioning. http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0832.html The hobgoblin Jirix Wears a blue head band as a priest. He wears it throughout the comic but on the 2nd to last panel it disappears for no apparent reason then precedes to reappear the following scene.
