On the subject (sorry) there was a mighty funny record album from the early 60's titled "How to speak Hip". It was mostly obsolete (and funny sounding slang).
    Sample:
"I am now disguised as an actual hipster"
"Hey man, who's the cat with the microphone in his beard?".....
"Well gotta go work to pay the rent"
    "What's he do?"
    "He's in the insurance business"
"Hey he just got hit by a car!"
"Yeah man, like I said, the insurance business".

In this thread you can post biggest, darkest secrets. Well it doesn't have to be that dark. It could be the most funniest secrets you ever post in this thread. Ok I'll start: I've never pass gas in my whole entire life. (:

    Well...
since internet is anonymous ( untill you troll the Net Police too much )...

    1) Five or six years ago, while slightly drunk, I found a tractor near a fenced area ( it looked like a factory but there was no one ). I looked around for people or cameras but found none. So I throw a big stone into the carwindow of the tractor, crashing it. Then I walked away. It was fun.

I don't play that way either, but because the game is built to cater to this play style, my choosing not to engage in it puts an upper limit to how good I can be at the game. I mean, when stuff like this is not only possible but encouraged, it really kills my interest. And that's not an outlier or unusual video: there are lengthy tutorials on how to juggle in these games because it's expected that people will play that way.

Personally, I don't do it. At most I'll hit once when my opponent is up in the air. I prefer moves that send my opponent flying back because I think they look cooler and more cinematic.

I've recently tried to replay it, and I've found... that it didn't age well. The dialogue and story weren't as good if compared to modern offerings. The gameplay was simplistic, and less developed. It was sad, because I loved it so much.

I also didn't cry when Aerith died, I was just angry that my party was down a healer

I never played any game of the FF, Zelda, Pokemon, Sonic, Crash Bandicoot, COD, Far Cry, Saint's Row, LEGO, Tomb Raider, Bioshock, God of War, Spyro, Starcraft, Metroid, Devil May Cry, Red Dead, Fable, Myst, Witcher, Ninja Gaiden, Just Cause, Unreal, Quake, Alone in the Dark, Baldur's Gate, Mafia or Halo franchises.

I also found the Red Faction movie not bad, and I think it is an almost satisfying compensation for the demise of the game series.

Are they widely disliked? I'm a fan myself. Then again I don't have pretensions of being a high minded art film buff. Give me 80s Ahnold blowing things up and I'm a happy camper. On the other hand, I saw either _The Raid_ or _The Raid 2_ and there was so much graphic violence it made me physically ill. Which surprised me because I have a pretty high threshold for that kind of stuff; not that I enjoy, but usually it doesn't phase me.

I think the Dark Knight Raises is a very underwhelming experience. Exceptional actors and workmanship, but the screenplay itself is at a much lower level.

Learn Italian, where double negatives are a necessity it's a mistake not to use them.

Strangely I found "Not not X" to occasionally be usefully distinct from "X" in philosophy. (Example: Disproving a disproof is not a proof)

It's kind of ironic that you are a frequent poster here then.

Or is it coincidence? Linguists, can you help me out?

His version and "Could you help me out?" are both perfectly valid, but because of the expression's idiomatic traits. The auxiliary "can" in this context provides an extra layer of politeness, essentially making the activity volitional on the part of the recipient [of the statement] versus the polite direct imperative "Please, help me out." However, if interpreted literally, idiomatic expressions can often be toyed with to rather amusing results such as with this little exchange right here. English is actually brimming with different means of making direct requests or orders more polite. "Please help me out, wouldn't you?" is still at its core the direct statement but with two alleviating phrases making the speech act less intrusive and passing the power of choice fully onto the recipient.

"Can you help me out" or "Could you help me out" serve the same function, with the conditional being irrealis and thus even more polite. "Could you help me out here, please?" would be my own preferred expression, probably. But then that's just my own stylistic choice and of course those are always extremely context-bound, and aside from some social norms, there are no rules on what would be correct in any given situation.

I suspect that 8BitNinja could write a confession about depressing other people's control switches, were he so inclined.
