I've been meaning to replay Arcanum. "Beat with an ugly stick" is indeed a selectable character background Pretty good if you don't intend on playing with followers.

I've never played either of those games, but I know Dark Souls (and especially Bloodborne) have some pretty great "bad" descriptors for your character, in the same vein of things.

So, apparently in the space of a week I've gone from being engaged to being single (an event me an the ex celebrated by making Christmas ornaments), finished my NaNo writing just under the wire, again, and may or may not be adopting a demon from a cute coworker who really needs to learn not to pick up creepy statues at midnight while attending certain spiritual retreats.

And I'm not actually making any of that up.

So that said, anyone know the proper way to seal off a possibly demonically possessed statue?

Put it into a copper tube and bury it in sodium bentonite. It is supposed to work for spent nuclear fuel, and that's not all too different from a demon, right?

I think to make up for it you should provide actual pictures so we can judge for ourselves.

Well, I'm fairly confident that's a vain hope, but as someone who has actually met Rawhide in person, I can say that his standards of beauty are rather unkind toward a large portion of humanity.

So I set up a saturday D&D game learning from the mistakes of my sunday D&D game... 8 people signed up... three people showed. We'll try again next week.

To be fair, they're mostly in their teens and their parents are all "holiday oriented" (plus one had food poisoning and another's parents are so ancient as to go "anything that is not us is satan" etc etc etc).

EDIT half a day later: Ran my sunday game. I thought a DC 36+ -ish lock would be enough to scare my players away from going somewhere they shouldn't. They didn't, broke the lock, went downstairs and are in a little bit of trouble (overpowered spectres with Hold Person mechanics that get stronger the more of them get layered on, without a ranged touch). Their fault for going down there when they're on Dungeon 5 of 6 and haven't cleared 1-4 yet...

I grew up with "all swearing is bad no matter what." This was reinforced by being homeschooled. This has caused one problem - I find it very hard to gauge the relative strength of any word stronger than "crap." They were all bad and offensive, so it's a lot harder to judge what's really offensive and what's just sorta-bad.
