Heh, Gumps
I love erfworld for many reasons, but one of the biggest is the puns.
Did anyone get "Gumps"? As in, Forest Gumps. Instead of Forest Elves or whatever.
And if this is old news, sorry, I don't read the forums much anymore.Libros virumque cano, ...

Re: Heh, Gumps
Well, some bright people caught it as soon as Parson mentioned it in one of the klogs ( I wasn't one of them). But we were very curious to see what they would look like. Now I'm even more curious to see them fight. How will they face a dwagon? What kind of kickarse moves do they have?

Re: Heh, Gumps
They look frikken slow, so it is hard to see how they will attack the dwagons--or anything else, for that matter. I could imagine them falling on the Erf-bound, but against flyers? The elves have ranged weapons but I do not see how the gumps can reach. Perhaps they can climb trees.

Re: Heh, Gumps
In AoW non fliers could only attack fliers if the fliers initiated it or they had a ranged attack. If the fliers didn't want to engage the combat was eventually called a draw and the attackers forced to retreat. However, warlord-less Dwagons are probably forced to autoattack anything that enters the hex regardless, thus bringing them down to the Gumps level. They already did it vs. the elves, specifically the non-ranged versions.

Re: Heh, Gumps
Let them throw rocks like the Battle Bears... A dwagon's belly should be a nice target especially when the dwagons close in to attack the woodsy elves...

Re: Heh, Gumps
erfworld is a game of subtle humor, this one was pretty good.
I would be a procrastinator, but I keep putting it off.

Re: Heh, Gumps
Flying units in forest can only be attacked by other flying units or by forest-capable units, like gumps and woodsy elves.

Re: Heh, Gumps
I'd say treants/treemen equivalents: really slow, but scary. I wasn't exactly expecting dwagon-smashing scary, but maybe they get some sort of bonus in woods.

Re: Heh, Gumps
They aren't dwagon-killing scary. But in this case they have Ansom's leader bonus. It is plainly obvious how powerful this bonus is, they woodsies did next to nothing the first time and got slaughtered, this time they killed the yellow dwagon.
