Default The Endless Adventure : Unique thread

    Hello folks.
I did some topics about the same campaign, and you helped me very well every time. I decided to make this thread so we can discuss about this setting (and I will not spam the forum with my questions).

The Setting : The Endless Adventure

Why is it special ? Some major NPCs are portrayed by real ppl, not the GM.

The Story : Once upon a time on the Forgotten Realms... things screwed up.

We played a one year long adventure where this happened :

Cyric manipulated everyone to make the gods fight each other. Eventually, Shar succeeded to gain so much power that she rose above all, near the level of Ao.
Ao noticed the mess and decided to destroy this universe. The four players party, composed of a LG Paladin, a NG priest, a CG wizard and a CN rogue raised to the level of minor gods, taking the power of those who were killed during the events. They found Cyric, who was trying to steal an ancient artifact made by an overgod to survive the destruction of the world. The players managed to stop Cyric and use the artifact for their own good. They then merged their vital essences with the artifact just before the world became a wide nothingness. The artifact was not destroyed because it has been made to survive an eventual world destruction.

150 years later, Ao created Abeir-Toril again, trying to rip off what flawed it in the first place. He did not create any god, nor any overpowered creature, but allowed the primordials to pop again.

300 years after The Event, the party emerges from the artifact and discovers the world. Their power starts to decline because they have no worshipers and it appears that Ao has already put in place the rule "No worshiper, no god." so people cannot gain power from nothing.

The players starts to spread their dogma, trying not to mess things up too much, so they can keep enough power to beat any threat.

Here is what they became :

    Kaelan the Paladin, Lawful Good

Domains : Good, Law, Heal, Protection, Strengh, Glory

    Thurgol, the priest Neutral Good
Domains : Craft, ability, runes, war, destruction, eternal rest

Myrddin, the wizard, became strict neutral
Domains : Magic, Knowledge, Sun, Travel, Charm, Community, Nobility, Madness

Vargas, the assassin, became chaotic evil

Domains : Chaos ,Shadow, Luck, Death, Deception, Freedom, Evil

Since then, they try to keep good and evil balanced. They deal with the primordials, the great archdevils and other powerful creatures that are able to gain worshipers or great power by nature.

They see that the world seems to follow the same history, like a cycle, and realize they survived to only ONE of the many world "reset".

Xymor, Tiamat and Null are spawned again... and all the clues lead them to think that everything is going to repeat at some time if they do not intervene.

Why is this setting odd, and why is it good ?

    1) Four of the gods are portrayed by players. They use either a forum or a vocal chat to take decisions and submit them to ONE of the game masters. Every choices may change the world.

    2) An other table is running with mortal players. They are not forced to worship nor follow the four gods. The game master of this table must, however, apply any change made by the gods that may affect the players. In return, the actions of the mortals can affect the gods in many ways.

    3) This is very very complex to manage because the GM must communicate a lot. But it is really fun. The point is... the game never ends. We can open as many table as we want with mortals players. Every game can take place in this universe. It still takes places on Abeir-Toril, but not in the Forgotten Realms, because everything is new. The trick is, the story is repeating like a cycle, so we can scavenge as many things as we need from the "normal FR setting", but the players likes it very much because they can help build the world and every action may change the destiny of the Realms.

    The mortals table

    Group composition :
    - Chaotic good sorcerer, wielder of SpellFire
    - 2 LG paladins, serving Kaelan and Thurgol
    - Neutral half-orc barbarian
    - CG thief
    - CG ranger

I'll edit this thread if things changes.
