Re: V's Gender Debate IV [Official]
In the latest comic, Qarr refers to V as "Mr. Elf." It's not proof, but just something to think about.
The above postsmaywill contain varying amounts of egotism.

Re: V's Gender Debate IV [Official]
i think V's Gender is nuter (as in no sex determined) it explains several things
1) why V has characteristics of both genders (see the how to make your own OOTS avatar thingy)
2) why v has a "Partner" and never been directly named as husband or wife
3) why V's kids are adopted
4) why he shared a room with haley earlier in the series
if its not clear let me take this chance to explain, simply put it would be because theres only 1 women in the group being hayley, women are natural keepers of secrets, problem solvers and all round interlects, if V shared a room with D,Elan,Roy & Belkar you can imagine the kind of conflict that would cause, elan asking stupid questions, roy being in shock, Durokan offering to give him a gender and belkar either making crude puns as he did when roy was a woman or just laughin hysterically, thus hayley is a much safer option.
his partner is also Nuter, as are the kids, not being able to reproduce themselves but wanting a family of thier own solves the problems, as to who wears the trousers is something completely diffrent as neither of them have anything to cover up so instead of one being the man and the other the woman when niether of them are that, they just agree they are partners, as previously the kids would be adopted who knows why maybe thier parents threw them out or gave them up for being nuter.
i hope you agree with my response
Itous
i agree with blizen and soen.
v was refered to as Mr Elf but in the early part of the series aka the first 100 episodes V was refered to as "V Man" by roy, so its just nicknames given, and in regards to what was said heard by the lads about how big they are and having a set not as big, a set doesn't nessacerilly mean 2 it could be numerious things, the idea of that conversation is to completely mislead the audiance, if you look back you can see all the males on the team overhearing the conversation smiling about it. this is intentional to mislead you. i am in agreement to some degree that the conversation in hand was about something other than the female anatomy. i do not how ever think they were gems it could be been golden ink pens (yes they have those in D&D check your phb in the equipment section there is a picture of an ink pen)Last edited by Itous; 2009-02-16 at 10:04 AM.

Re: V's Gender Debate IV [Official]
To me, the word 'mate' carries connotations of breeding, which would preclude V being either gay or neuter. I realize mate can also mean "husband or wife"' but there are a lot better words for "life-partner-who-may-or-may-not-be-able-to-produce-children" than 'mate.' Like, say, 'spouse.'

Re: V's Gender Debate IV [Official]
Of course it can be, and it takes on different connotations when turned into a compound word like you suggest. But that isn't done here, whcih just makes it seem weird to me. If I called my girlfriend my 'soulmate,' she would probably roll her eyes and say I was being gushy. If I called her my 'mate' she would probably give me a really weird look and ask if I was suggesting she was good stock for calving.
To me, the word 'mate,' with no other modifier, does hold the connotations of two biological entities coming together purely for the express purpose of producing offspring and nothing else. There are a lot better ways to describe it without assigning gender/sexuality if it was supposed to be otherwise.Avatar done by my own hand.

Er, am I the only one around here who remembers Elfquest? "Mate" is used extensively to refer to elven lovers in that series.

Re: V's Gender Debate IV [Official]
I think V is a male and a homosexual one at that as he likes Judy Garland. :P
(It's a joke...I know that they all don't like Judy Garland.)

V is male.
So proved by the demons themselves.
638
Tiny Demon: What was that? I couldn't understand.
Demon 2: I think He* said...
Demon 3: "Shapechange."
*Emphases mine.
Notice it was not one of the lighter colored letters that said the word too. So it was not one of the male soul spliced wizards.
So V is male. Male, male, male.
MALE.
Thank you, enjoy flaming me over this.

Re: V's Gender Debate IV [Official]
The comic before it had a fiend call V a she, so your post really proves nothing. Congratulations.

Re: V's Gender Debate IV [Official]
V IS A MALE BECAUSE:
The person reffered to him as "Suvie". Either V is gay or hes a girl.

The only definate way to reveal V's gender
As of 638, first panel we can safely say that the dragon got an "eyeful" of V's gender. As the dragon is still alive, we can safely assume any gender used by her is V's actual gender*.
*This of course assumes V does not wear underwear.

On the left side of my brain, there's nothing right. On the right side, there's nothing left!

I have a D20 around my neck, and I'm not afraid to use it!
I use it in Ptolus based campaign.
Also THIS is my character.

Re: The only definate way to reveal V's gender
I think V must wear something under the robe... If she doesnt, it would be very very easy for Belkar to discover V's gender... Is nothing easier than lift up her robes while V is concentrated on a spell
Eh, sorry for my english, I'm a foreigner.

You forgot Durkon, which looked at under V's robes.
And saw horrors unnamed by people or dwarves. But, as Durkon is a manly man, he just started worrying.

There's only a black hole. Side effect of being androgynous and wearing robes all the time.

Re: V's Gender Debate IV [Official]
Today's spell was absolute overkill, therefore V is obviously male.
