Re: Pokémon Thread XXVIII: Get. In. The. BAG.
I'll add in my code from Ultra Sun when I get off work. I'm only on the fourth island (just got the Machamp ride pager), so it'll still be a while until I get to the fun stuff. That said, I used the pokebank thing to rob my White 2 cartridge blind, so I've got a few that aren't in the seventh gen games.
So far, I'm having fun with it. I know some hate him, but I like Hau - I know he's a genuine nice guy but it's hard to tell how much of his happy-go-lucky persona is sincere and how much is a coping mechanism for how much stress he's under. He kinda reminds me of Jaune from RWBY in the most complimentary way I can say that - he knows he's something of a joke and hates that fact, and that pain sneaks through that infectious grin once in a while.
So far, I've been building and trying to decide between two teams: a humanoid team (Decidueye, Blaziken, Gardevoir, Hawlucha, Garchomp, Greninja, with Zoark and Bisharp as alternates based on situation) or a pseudo-legendary one (Metagross, Garchomp, Salamence, Tyranitar, Goodra, Dragonite). Not looking to compete with people, just find the team-building fun. I've already recruited everyone but Greninja, though Salamence is my only stage three pseudo so far.Spoiler: My inventory:

Definitely the pseudo-legendary one. Because dragons. I'm definitely not biased because I'm a dragon type elite 4 member or anything.

Re: Pokémon Thread XXVIII: Get. In. The. BAG.
Can't argue that they bring power to the table. They're also versatile, I charted out what skills to give them and I ended up with 66 targeted weaknesses (ie Salamence targets 9 weaknesses while Metagross targets 12) using abilities that drew on their strengths. The biggest argument against it is that I don't have any poachers on the team, as in pokemon specifically trained to capture others. Humanoid has Bisharp and Decidueye, both of whom have False Swipe, Bisharp has Thunder Wave, and Decidueye's ghost type allows it to nullify a lot of recoil attacks (keeping prey from fainting themselves).
Is there a better poacher than Bisharp?Last edited by Calemyr; 2018-08-28 at 11:56 AM.

Re: Pokémon Thread XXVIII: Get. In. The. BAG.
Aaaand... triple post.
Couple questions for the Ultra veterans out there regarding the newborn Cosmog you can pick up. I've read conflicting reports on it. Does it evolve into the cover legendary when you level it up, or the other one? In my case, with Ultra Sun, does it turn into Solgoleo or Lunala if I just kept it? If it's the same one, can you just trade it over to someone at level 53 and holding a rare candy, let them level it up and then trade it back to get the other one? I guess at that point there's not much reason to worry about a traded pokemon being out of control, but still...Spoiler: My inventory:

Re: Pokémon Thread XXVIII: Get. In. The. BAG.
Pangoro packs decent coverage and Scrappy. Breloom has Technician boosted Priority, False Swipe and Spore. (Mega) Gallade has Hypnosis for Grass types and Heal Pulse. Aegislash may also be arguably better, but its non humanoid.
Garchomp and Kommo-o can False Swipe. Neither are fantastic: chip damage galore from Chomp and Kommo-o has nothing to help spread helpful status outside of Attract to prevent struggle.

Re: Pokémon Thread XXVIII: Get. In. The. BAG.
Two questions for Ultra veterans:
1) How do you GTS trade for exclusives from the other game? I've got two Blacephalon, but I've never seen a Stakalaka so I can't request it on an up-and-up trade.
2) Would anyone with Ultra Moon be willing to help me juggle my second Cosmog so that I can have a Lunala that's loyal to me?Spoiler: My inventory:

Re: Pokémon Thread XXVIII: Get. In. The. BAG.
Scroll down through the bottom of the alphabet, and there will be an option for "What Pokemon?" That'll let you type in the pokemon for which you are looking.
If you're still looking for someone to help you turn your Cosmog into a Lunala in a few days, I should be able to help with that. It'll just be from regular Moon, but I don't think that changes anything."Okay, so I'm going to quick draw and dual wield these one-pound caltrops as improvised weapons..."
---
"Oh, hey, look! Blue Eyes Black Lotus!" "Wait what, do you sacrifice a mana to the... Does it like, summon a... What would that card even do!?" "Oh, it's got a four-energy attack. Completely unviable in actual play, so don't worry about it."

Re: Pokémon Thread XXVIII: Get. In. The. BAG.
So, according to the early 1998 promo material, Ash has a (non-anime) Aunt Hilary, who keeps pictures of Misty on her wall.
I don't even.
(Trust the nineties to do something that daft...)

I use braces (also known as "curly brackets") to indicate sarcasm. If there are none present, I probably believe what I am saying; should it turn out to be inaccurate trivia, please tell me rather than trying to play along with an apparent joke I don't know I'm making.

Re: Pokémon Thread XXVIII: Get. In. The. BAG.
The "catch five Fire Pokemon" quest is so frustrating. Around the same time as the quests launched, the weather took a sharp turn from hot & sunny to wet & chilly, and there's barely a Fire Pokemon to be found. At least the Kanto event brings with it plentiful Ponyta and Growlithe.

Re: Pokémon Thread XXVIII: Get. In. The. BAG.
Did my first Raid today. It was a mighty battle, but in the end I was victorious...
...that Magikarp never knew what hit it.
I'm out running, about to walk one last lap to cool down, and notice that a nearby gym that's almost always Instinct has turned Mystic with only two defenders. Not wanting to miss the opportunity to earn some coins, I figured I'd head out. Then I see the CP 1100 Magikarp flopping around as a Raid boss.
But hey, it's hard to argue with what was basically a free Rare Candy, 2 Golden Razz berries, and a Magikarp that's stronger than the one I was planning on evolving.

I swear Pokemon Go was actively taunting me today.
I needed 1 more Ghost type to complete the 5th stage of the Mew event and encountered a Ghastly on my way to lunch. One giddy round of Great Ball throwing later and I'm rewarded...with the 4th Ditto I've caught since starting that set of tasks. Then, a little later I spotted another Ghastly. I clicked on it...and promptly received an error message stating that Pokemon could not be found. It wasn't until I somehow ran into a third Ghastly that I was finally able to complete that stage of the event. If brute force isn't working, that just means you're not using enough of it.
When in doubt, set something on fire. If not in doubt, set something on fire anyway.

It's a new Mythical pokemon called Meltan. Professor Oak and Professor Willow have such different art styles that it's weird.
Hopefully it won't require integration between Go and the new Pokemon games, but I'm thinking it will =P

I see the new Generation 8 Pokémon Meltan and this is my opinion about the Pokémon. I'm happy that Meltan was introduced but at the same time I also feel that the Pokémon creators are running out of ideas. So I say the Pokemon is average and medicore.

Re: Pokémon Thread XXVIII: Get. In. The. BAG.
Oh, people sharing their friend codes? Alright, mine is 2644 1065 4728.
I've recently picked up the TCG, due to receiving a bunch of cards from a friend who collects them but doesn't play. I managed to construct a pretty rad Water/Fairy deck from these leftovers, and now I've got our whole friend group hooked.I do not think the way you think. If you try to apply your own mindset to the things I say, there will be miscommunications. If something I say seems odd to you or feels like it's missing steps, ask for clarification. I'm not some unreasonable, unknowable entity beyond your mortal comprehension, I'm just autistic and have memory problems.
