Default Why first aid / healing spells?

Do all units regain full health at the start of their turn? The dwagons do. If all units do, what use are healing spells, etc?

Yes all the units heal at the start of turn. Healing allows units to live long enough to be around to heal at the start of next turn. AKA it allows units to avoid the jam the dwagons are currently in.

What jindra34 said. Also, healing in mid-turn allows a unit low on health (that would normally have to be pulled out of combat, or else lost when the enemy got a few more hitsies on it) to re-enter the fight without waiting for your next turn.

More succinctly, it allows a unit to continue and/or survive combat, since there's no indication that individual units can retreat independently of the stack as a whole, or that defenders can retreat at all.
