Well, yeah, but I think it's the "noble savages" part that does the trick. Being non-Callanians helps, of course, too.

I can picture it:

Two kids sneak into an orchard and each steals an apple from a tree. Then they are catched by Dominic, cause the Great Seer has nothing better to do than to scry on two random kids.
Kid one (a fat brat, who happens to be of non-Callanian heritage): "Please, good sir, I haven't eaten for days, I'm starving!"
Dominic: "Why, of course, my child, I can totally understand that. Here, take this pie, too. And this money. I'll tell the people at the tavern that they shall take you in for tonight, which they will do, since I am so Awesome."
Kid one: "Why, thank you, sir!" *runs off*
Dominic: "Ain't helping people nice? Now to you..." *turns with a grim look in his face to the second kid, who is a Callanian, and practically only bones and skin*

While everybody remembers vividly how Stonewater cleverly saved Melna's life through a timely rape, it should be remembered that 1. her life was indeed threatened (murder) and that 2. her life was threatened because her father and her mother were murdered. So, yeah. Murder aplenty.

You need to watch some American mockumentaries (documentaries that really aren't; they're just politically-motivated, one-sided distortions).

I really can't wait for this arc to be over. Nobody cares what's going on because these side characters were never developed and there's not a main character in sight. Hopefully the next arc with have more senseless violence and less Wangst.

He didn't say "cleanse", though, he said "purge". Now, I'm not nearly as familiar with the subtleties of the English language as you native speakers are, but if I'm not mistaken that can also simply stand for "kick out", can't it?

Wait... are you saying that, after all our complaints that Dominic was doing everything all alone, after mocking how the First Caste is everything and all others are nothing, we suddenly want the story to give more focus to the First Caste main characters?
