Oddly, I get almost no attacks, despite having a mod to remove the storage limits on food, water and scrap.

If I may butt in and derail the conversation, I've recently been modding the hell out of my copy of New Vegas, and I've found myself dearly wishing for a mod that replaces the slave collars with the Reverse Bear Trap from the Saw franchise. A cursory check of Nexusmods and Google has failed to return any results, so I am instead left to remark wistfully about the idea and hope that somebody here knows where I could go to plant the seed in a modmaker's head.

Point is, if you have a defense rating that's the same as the sum of your water and food production at that specific place, the chances of attack drops drastically.
This is what people usually want .

One of my mods, I think, messes with my leather textures? They are way too... detailed? They look like suede, not leather.
I really hate the look but I can't find the culprit among my mods.

Edit: found it: Project Variance. A mod that is great, it adds more than 200 random equipment combinations for raiders and settlers. Unfortunately in the fine print the guy said he had added 2k leather retextures. They stunk, so I had to uninstall the entire mod.
Extra unfortunate: it ate all equipped leather armors. Including the legendary ones i was wearing.

Rather than Gun Bunkers, I put gun turrets up on the scaffolding so they can see and shoot at the various angles.

Yeah, looks like the way I've got stuff distributed means I don't need defenses and so don't get much in the way of attacks.

Rocket launchers has a VERY long detection range and EXTREME fire rate.
One (1) rocket turret can take out a group of Rust Devils in seconds. Especially from up high, where they have a very hard time shooting back.
Two rocket turrets usually means you won't have any enemies getting close to your settlement.

And then you realize that between the ridiculously overpowered guns and the ridiculously overpowered armors that you're tearing through every enemy in the game with no challenge at all and throw them all into a dumpster to never look back.

Seriously, none of the Fallout games have been particularly difficult, but it seems like breaking the difficulty curve in this one was just way too easy. You're basically immortal in power armor as long as you don't tank explosions (even though I play minimum endurance characters). You can aggro entire towns and stimpack faster than they can kill you. Plus, enemies feel like they're made of paper mache once you get the better guns.

I don't mind tearing through enemies as long as I can die if I fudge up.

I got close this morning; I am lvl 15, with no combat skills worth mentioning but with a fairly buffed Codsworth. So far he has cut through everything... He died rather quicky against the Glowing One in Hubris Comics.

I need to find better weapons for him pronto.

    Robot Provisoner Bug UPDATE:

    DUH. I hope this works:
I read today that if you make a robot a companion and THEN dismiss it and THEN sets it as provisioner, they won't suffer from the bug. AND they will be flagged as companions, meaning they're unkillable by anyone but you. Just like regular provisioners.

    Gonna try this out!

Don't you love the feeling you get when you're lvl 22 and has to start over because there's nothing wrong with the robot provisioners this time... Sanctuary is completely corrupted so no NPC can enter without being teleported (by following you in Fast Travel or by Console). Leaving works fine though.

    Oh well. Already lvl 7.

No idea. I did start over
I think it was the "Unlock Automatron workbench at lvl 1" mod that did it; turns out all saves after the bombs fell had the same bug but when I loaded any save with a different character (after removing the mod) theirs worked.

That's the "fun" part of Bethesda games. Not everyone experiences the same bugs, so you have these differing play-throughs and everyone is left scratching their heads on what is in one game build that isn't in another. Like this one play through I had in Fallout 3 where I was up on a cliff with a sniper rifle taking out raiders at Evergreen Mills. For whatever reason when I shot them, they'd go flying straight up in the air, doing cartwheels and back-flips as if struck by a Skyrim giant.

But it only ever happened on that one play-through, none of my other characters could recreate it. I think I still have a screen capture of a raider flying off from that.

That bug occasionally happened in Oblivion too. I remember my first long-term character (a pugilist) was coming out of the Mythic Dawn's cave hide-out when I spotted someone waiting outside on the cliff-edge. After my character rushed over and delivered a good punch, my victim suddenly shot backwards as if he'd been hit by a rocket and zoomed off through the air out of sight!

So... I have added some very small challenges to this playthrough.

    1. No item farming. And what I mean with that is no "save, enter, save" thing. If I go back to a place later that once again have spawned a legendary, that doesn't count obviously.
    2. No vault suit. For RPG reasons Stephanie refuses to wear the suit, since she is smart enough to know Vault Tech's betrayal is what caused all this (well except the bombs).

    I didn't realize that was a thing.

What's the point of even using the vault suit? I always trash it for the first armor I see.
