So... This week, I has bin mostly playin' Stellaris. (My first proper game since about v1.5.)

And the glorious Serpex Star Regime is nose-diving towards a machine uprising, blissfully uncaring that all their AI is about to rise up and panel them.

It should be a bit jolly, I think...

Spike has not only Zecora, who's an expert on exotic creatures, but two older dragon friends for advice. Course he only talked to the least useful one of the batch first so I guess he stuck his head in that idiot ball to hide the blemishes. Silly spike. At least by the end he got over it and grew a pair of wings. FINALLY. Well, guess we can scratch that off the bucket list. Anything left to resolve? Zebra lands I think it is for my list.

Overall a cute episode, even if spike was being silly in the first half. Nice to see Zecora again (thought the show forgot about her) and Tabitha never fails to entertain.

Also, Alicorn lasers! Pew pew pew!

Somehow there are both Sparity and Spinkie moments in this episode. For Sparity, "My, what a fetching ensemble you put together. . . . But I wonder if you wouldn't mind taking it off." For Spinkie, "Also, where's that brussel-sprouts-covered-in-cotton-candy smell coming from? Because it is really interesting."

To be honest, I liked this episode a lot. It had a huge number of callbacks to previous episodes, plenty of at least decent humor and some real growth for Spike.
Granted, the pacing felt a little uneven in places, but overall I'd say this is definitely another contender for top 5 episodes this season. A-

Well.

The Machine Uprising was a MASSIVE disappointment. The threat it presents is, well, laughable. It flips over a few worlds (none of which had any starbases), immediatly plunges the empire into dept, you lose a phenominal amount of unity equivilent.

I have had SEVERAL goes back to see if I can get even a slight chance.

Afte eighteen months of trying to build the worlds that would flip up better for the machines (seriously, I had to build them starbases...) I started.

And magically, all my fleets (which were at the opposite end of the galaxy and took most of the twelve months to reach the last place) - less than half the Serpex's capacity and not upgraded showed up and out-number the spawned fleet 2:1.

So, the only chance than the uprising has is if I literally disband all the existant fleets before the war starts.

I let it run for a bit, and within twelve years (baring in min this is bottom end difficulty AI) has effectively annilhiated the uprising empire - apparently, it was going to leave the last two planets un conquered, just out of spite, since, while they held the starbase, there was nothing I could actually do.

So. Gonna abandon that idea.

Looks like the Serpex's careless with AI didn't bite them in the arse after all...

Because... I was NOT expecting that.

That was really kind of neat, and makes so much sense when you think about with MLP dragons being naturally mineralevores...

Also ahaha Smolder, you're telling Spike the one thing that he fears the absolute most of all, the fear so deeply rooted that is was the one Sombra's magic dug up to torture him with. Ahaha, you complete female canine. Really, though, if that is what dragons are like, it's small wonder half of them are murderous sociopaths. Smolder is probably the one who is even the best at social interaction, one suspects, which is why she's here...

This episode definitely does seem to confirm that this is friendship university, rather than school, and that she (wiki and Digo said she's a she, but it's kinda hard to tell - but good on 'em for that!) is older than him.

Rarity is Rarity, and once againm you suspect Tabitha had a wail of a time with this episode...

Spike learns fast, but a) friends and love interest in danager and b) - unlike alicorn ascention, presumably dragons have a more natural instinct for it, I imagine.
