Oooh, UP. I like that. I have a version still, I think. Another few favorites are OMFG The Zerglings ( ), DoBRP, Real Life [for Morons], Island Defense and Film Maker. I... *might* still be able to host, I dunno yet, I could on my old computer, but I'm not sure.

Uther Party is good, although I prefer an older version of it (Gold 0.50 I think) over the newer versions (the Ultimas).

I never actually played Warcraft 2 on Battle Net, so I'm probably awful. I count my best accomplishment as beating the Orc campaign without cheating, and getting to the last level in the Human campaign without cheating. Something about having to invade a heavily defended outpost, and then build a settlement while Dragons are patrolling by, discouraged me from trying to beat that one.

There's nothing wrong with DotA..

In itself, it's a very well-designed custom game that is consistently bug-free, constantly updated and through constant tinkering, has achieved a modicum of balance.

The problem with it is that people host it to excess, and it drowns out other custom games. But that doesn't mean that there are any problems inherent in DotA.

To put it another way, if many people drive Toyotas, to the detriment of cars made by Jaguar and Renault, does it mean that Toyotas are necessarily bad?

Anything popular will, naturally, have a larger number of idiots. That is the only reason DotA "sucks".

Uther Party is a fine custom map.
Regarding DotA, Artemician's right. DotA is fun; it's just unfortunately a bit too dominating.

So, back to the important matters - where do we meet? Which server and which channel?

I cannot host, but I can play most of the time, and I have no clan, so it's all good.

I'd love to play DoBRP, as DoTA gets old quickly, and I am an avid roleplayer. I might play Mauls though.

Actually, DotA itself isn't really that awesome, and it's community, hype, and overhostedness make it a lot worse IMO. Tell me one unique gameplay factor DotA has that any other AoS doesn't and I might give you $20. In before "Make a game more popular than dota before you judge it."

It may have been deleted for inactiveness, but my account on USEast is/was Baneling_Aspect, though I haven't been on in ages. So I'd have to make a new one if this was USWest. Which I don't mind, I don't really play ladder.

Oooh yeah, more maps I like. Wolf Pack, Island Troll Tribes, and Micro Arena.

What was awesome about Micro Arena is that I had the best level-7 hero choice ever. As in, 5 food, 1 hero allowed, level 7, no air units. I hardly ever lost.

And it turns out my acc wasn't deleted. Yay.

EDIT: Run Kitty Run games are okay. So are normal games. I play as Night Elves in those. Fun.

Bleh I always sucked at the werewolf game.

I love Mauls, TDs, RPGs, and most other gametypes though.

I've never played DoTA though, my friends have a "Friends don't let friends play DoTA" policy.

Well, we met two weeks ago on the date that had been discussed last in this thread, four folks in total, and played a couple of various custom maps (most of them curtesy of LiteYear).

Nothing happened since.

Agreed, with both. (In my case, it's more that I much prefer playing with people I know - even if it's just in the sense of knowing them via the Playground - than with strangers)
