You made it farther than I did.

I ended up scrapping my thesis and finishing with coursework.

Now go out there and party... Or sleep.

My main chapter was 27 pages long, almost half of the total length. I'm fairly certain my advisor wanted to graduate me for that chapter alone. Let's just say that moving from simulation to reality has a disturbing history of destroying perfectly good models.

I recently purchased some "Mediterranean olive oil hummus" then noticed it tasted kinda funny and had chunks in it.

It wasn't expired or anything; I checked the label, and it didn't actually say "oil."

Makes sense to me. Never heard of olive oil hummus as a label.

On the subject of dissertations and thesises, while not to the same scale, I stare at my term project model and feel vague empathy for Victor Frankenstien.

My thought process just a few minutes ago was "My dad just kept something secret from me, tried to punish me for not knowing the thing he wouldn't tell me, then denied I was in trouble in the first place ... well, either that or I heard anger in his voice when there wasn't any ... come to think of it, the only 'trouble' I seem to be in is 'being yelled at' ... and he isn't actually that loud ... he wasn't angry."

Then I apologized, because him yelling was all in my head and me yelling in response was real.

After that I decided to give the dog a treat so she wouldn't bear a grudge for scaring her (as is routine after these arguments between me and my dad) and was surprised to see she wasn't scared in the first place. I still gave her the treat, because she's a good dog.

I've had a bad cough for about a week and on Friday after work I coughed so hard I think I pulled a muscle on the left side of my torso and it's hurt there every time I cough, but on Saturday I sneezed and it was damn near the worse pain I've experienced.

This morning I took a cough suppressant upon waking, and with the dawn my 2-1/2 year old son started talking, so to keep him from waking up my wife and our 14 year-old son I kept him close with a Tablet screen so he could watch Blippi and Dora the Explorer, when they woke up they took him and I dozed off (I think the cough suppressant had a sedative effect) and on waking just after noon I saw the little guy chasing our 14 year-old with a plastic sword while yelling: "I DA PIRATE! ARRRR!"

I then drank a bunch of tea and drove the four of us to a local community college to check out bus routes and class location, and we saw that the Chinatown Salvation Army store was open on a Sunday with a 50% ofc sale, so in we went and bought two toys and some pants.

Then we got as take out food some middle eastern style kebabs from a place that coincidentally happens to be across the street from latest location of the game store I've been buying stuff from since I got The Dragon magazine and the Players Handbook from them in 1979.

Upon coming home I saw that the honeysuckle tree that me and my older son planted last year now has more flowers blooming than I've seen before.

Now I'm looking at the latest edition (back in print!) of one of my top favorite games: King Arthur Pendragon (5.2e) which seems close to the 3rd edition in rules, and I note that, unlike the 1985 first edition women characters may no longer start with an inheritance of being able to brew a type of magic potion, and none of the spellcasting rules of the 4th edition remain, plus it doesn't have as many lists of faeries, which seems a shame, but the book is really big and the introductory adventures included look better to me than previous ones so it still looks like a winner!

Last week I also picked up from Mr. Mopp's Children's Books and Toys (brick and mortar FOREVUH!!!) an illustrated book on Knights, and another one on Pirates, and at a grocery store I picked up a couple of recipe magazines plus an issue of Bicycle Quarterly - which is a favorite.

Get well soon, 2D8HP. It sounds like you had a fun day anyway, though.

I got some classic movies at the library I'd been dying to see for awhile. I brought them home to watch them and they're all scratched so badly I can't play them. I just finished the week's worth of Arabic homework and am waiting for the laundry to finish drying. I'm going to start working on my paper + presentation (about the refugee situation in Djibouti) that I have to give Thursday, and there aren't enough tranquilizers in the world.

    Thank you!

I'm back at work ('cause taking a sick day two days in a row doesn't look good), and while it still hurts when I cough I haven't sneezed (thankfully) since Saturday, which is when my side hurt the most, and I can stifle the coughs a bit which lessens the pain.

Not very productive though, so far I "fixed" one faucet that I had a service order for, but I actually already had fixed it on Friday when I noticed that someone ripped off the handles.

Trying to lay low and get away with avoiding anything strenuous.

So the performance went really well. It kind of suprised me, the hall seems small when you're in the stage with an orchestra (though a friend of mine says it seems massive if you're there playing a solo) but when you're in the audience it seems massive. It was part of a music in schools thing, and the other orchestras were also (mostly) good. The acoustics are amazing though. Afterwards we went out for lunch at a Korean Barbecue place which was delicious, though we ordered a bit too much food. All in all, a good day so far.

Well I seem to have come down with a mild cold, and I'm unsure what to do. On the one hand if I'm well enough to read a book I'm well enough to work, on the other hand I work around vulnerable adults with comprimised immune systems, and I don't want to infect any of them.

Unfortunately from what I remember of regulations I'm supposed to phone in sick if I'm even potentially infectious, and that's going to be the answer. The other rule is I technically can't go back until I've had 'two symptom free days', and unfortunately the cold is mild enough that I mainly show symptoms when I'm stressed (read: at work). So yeah, technically breaking the letter of the regs, but I'm not certain about the spirit.

(A lot of this is that I'm a man in my mid twenties, my immune system is pretty much at the strongest it'll ever be and so when I'm not stressed all I have is a light headache and a bunged up nose, but when I am it scales up to neausa and potential sneezing.)
