Re: OOTS #1161 - The Discussion Thread
Keyboard. It's minted on your keyboard, entering circulation by gambling. For example, I bet 1 gold the next comic will have Hilgya or Minrah appearing. Bam, I just created 1 gold and put it into circulation! Of course, it's in escrow until the next comic shows up and we see who that gold goes to, but still.
Better?Cuthalion's art is the prettiest art of all the art. Like my avatar.

Re: OOTS #1161 - The Discussion Thread
After the botanists claimed all things "hedge", they emptied all the hedge funds to bribe developers (which is how druids got to be a tier 1 class); and afterwards they released the adjective form into public domain. So while botany is hedge science, it is not the only science that can be described as "hedge".
If you're talking about a "botany bay", I think there's a khan involved somewhere?
I get that a lot....I'm not sure it's weirder than maintaining a half-decade-old typo as a theme, but it's probably more interesting to read.FeytouchedBanana eldritch disciple avatar by...me!

Only if you consider "Vaarsuvius", "Vaarsuvius", "Vaarsuvius", "Vaarsuvius", "Vaarsuvius", "Vaarsuvius", "Vaarsuvius", "Vaarsuvius", "Vaarsuvius", "Vaarsuvius", "Vaarsuvius", "Vaarsuvius", "Vaarsuvius", "Vaarsuvius", "Vaarsuvius", and "Vaarsuvius" to be distinct. Otherwise, it's only 226,800.

Re: OOTS #1161 - The Discussion Thread
V has access to the spells; they used scrolls of Dismissal in Battle of Azure City, and attempted Banishment on the Pit Lord.
It sort of boils down to whether Durkon knew about the scroll of Gate. And whether either of them can get through LDWs defences. And whether this fights going to be resolved by a single save-or-gtfo.
(dismissing the elementals would cause narrative problems if it happened too soon)

Re: OOTS #1161 - The Discussion Thread
Belkar can take those two elementals singlehandedly, right?
And is there a way to effectively disrupt the worm from casting? I have to laugh at the mental image of Roy doing the Spellsplinter on the worm's maw or something.

Re: OOTS #1161 - The Discussion Thread
He should be able to: they're Large elementals, so 8HD +24-ish hp. Ac 18, and DR 5. Not total pushovers, but I'd think Belkar should be able to make with the stabby-stabby. When he gets this Hold taken off him, that is.
Spell-like abilities can't be counter spelled, but they can be disrupted. LDW has AC 35 and Concentration +32, (+36 counting Combat Casting) so it shouldn't be very easy to do, but both Roy and Durkon seem to have no trouble hitting it, and for a lot of damage, considering what they're using.

I'm not going to explain how the Elder Horror of Fakeania had 437 mouths, 67392 teeth and no actual body or limbs, no breath or sound based skills, and 5 different finger oriented skills.
Basically, vestigial limbs and someone shooting magic into chromosomes until they turned inside out.Last edited by Squire Doodad; 2019-04-21 at 08:03 PM.
An explanation of why MitD being any larger than Huge is implausible.
