Some kind of thing that Britain no longer has? I vaguely remember Summer....that was when there was a sun.

Summer is lots and lots of heat, and having to stare at the ground because you can't look up without frying your eyes (if you don't have sunglasses), and not being able to walk across surfaces barefoot because it's all so freakin' hot. Summer is temperature that makes you hot just by looking at the numbers (100+ degrees Fahrenheit).

I'll let that sink in, and in the meantime, I'll ask what winter is, 'cause I've never seen it. I can't remember the last time I saw snow (in ANY quantity).

It seems like it's gonna rain over here. I like it better like this. Usually here we have a really hot weather, and I hate it. Hope this weather stays for a while.

Winter's when it's grey, cold and wet. And when you get much sleet, and if you're lucky, a few hours of snow, before it melts away and leaves more mud and mess.

Hmm. That sounds familiar, except less cold.
I suppose I'm just used to thinking about my relatives talk about winter. They live in Alaska, you see, so winter to them means heaps and heaps of snow that you can literally make tunnels in.

Europe is generally hotter than the USA at the same latitude, then again Georgia is around the latitude of Egypt, isn't it? (Ack, it's only around Crete. Then again, hot enough).

We get pretty hot summers and quite some snow. Yay for Alps!

I went up and looked at average temperatures- some different places in Europe (UK, mostly), and then for where I live. My summer is generally... 20-30 degrees hotter than theirs. (Once again, Fahrenheit since I have stupid USA measurements)

I hate our 21st century weather, over 300 for weeks on end, sometimes even reaching 310. While our winters barely get below 270 nowadays.

I don't know what you guys were taught, but even kelvin (notice it's not capitalized) needs to have the unit put after it.

Anyways, we're finally getting lower temperatures here; with it being 59 F/16 C past noon for the first time since summer.

@RS: kelvin isn't with degrees, as it's an absolute scale, not a relative one.

Kelvin is a scale based around absolute zero, so 0 K = Absolute zero.
It's basically Celsius shifted up 273.15 degrees.

RS, that's our summer. And a bit warmer. Sometimes we get up to 28*C. Then Britain melts.
And for our winter. Colder, greyer, windier. Cornwall never gets any snow. But we do get hail. In all my 16 and a bit years I have never played in the snow; never made a snowman or had a snowball fight.
Now I feel horribly sad.

CurlyKitGirl, we don't get snow around here either...I mean, we have enough to taunt us, but never enough to do anything in.

I'm hopeful that this year changes that pattern though. This has been the second dryest summer for the state, with the dryest having been before a fairly large snowfall the following winter.

I've had enough snow to do anything with it once, of course I had bronchitis then and were unable to use it to satisfaction.

Fingers crossed for Oxford or Cambridge in two years. And I intend to see real snow before I'm 20. Even if I have to stow away when my best friend goes skiing in Austria.
