It seems The Splatter Man knew what was being cast and looked away in time and shielded his essence to only take 3 mod light, though it does seem to be vaguely off-put by the bright light.

Hargrimm then moves to the north to give the others room to maneuver.

R2T15: "You should have tried to be friends," Angelo chided.

Then he utters another arcane phrase and launches missiles of force at it, splattering about wispy bits of ectoplasmic as it does 7 force.

R2T13: Still a little dazzled by Hargrimm's spell, The Splatter Man doesn't try to cast a spell while seeing stars, but swings his hand through Wren's right shoulder. As it passes through, Wren tries to fight off what is happening, but his curse from the torture room means his body fails him as he suffers 23 aging damage. The Splatter Man then begins to float away as Wren swings Lopper's handaxe through The Splatter Man's head for 4 mod. The Splatter Man disappears into the upper part of the cell wall east of Wren.

R3T15: Angelo's eyes go wide as he tries to look around everywhere at once. He preps his hands in anticipation of casting a spell.

R3T13: The Splatter Man appears out of the eastern wall at the chokepoint, right next to Hargrimm and Angelo. It was more of a transiting exit than an attempt to surprise, though his sudden appearance is still shocking. Angelo is immediately ready and begins casting his spell and points right at the spirit's face to let loose with a beam of positive energy that scrapes along the Splatter Man's cheek for 1 PE. At the same time, Hargrimm attacks with his banelight vortices, but it is now apparent that the Splatter Man felt Angelo was completely beneath him - having had two opportunities to strike the bard and not doing so.

When Hargrimm's aim finalizes, however, the Splatter Man passes his hand through the dwarven cleric's throat. Hargrimm saw the effect on Wren and is ready for it, resisting much of the power. Yet for that meager success, he still takes 15 aging + (1 DEX bleed from torn neck tendon) and his shot is ruined.

The Splatter Man then concentrates and feeds Hargrimm with a blast of four magic missiles that all strike him with as much power as a volley like that can possibly have, doing 20 force.

R3T12: Marius winds around the pit's opening to chase down the Splatter Man. He then adopts a dour fighting posture and strikes at the monster with his polearm, missing wildly.

R3T10: Wren adjusts a few feet, takes out the single vial of holy water entrusted to him (party treasure) and throws it at the Splatter Man. It goes right through the spirit, with the holy water super heating and shattering the vial it is in to do 5 PE to the enemy.

R4T14: Not wanting to take another hit like that, and not having a lot of options, the newly wizened Hargrimm retreats from the Splatter Man in a southeasterly direction. The intuitive part of the defensive posturing Hargrimm takes as he goes is used to fighting corporeal opponents; he moves erratically, but also uses his weapon in a parrying/warding fashion. The Splatter Man passes his hand through the staff and into Hargrimm's hand as he goes. The dwarf's great hardiness helps him resist much of the aging, yet he still takes 11 aging even then. He still gets away, though, and nobody is next to the accursed creature.

R4T13: The Splatter Man then flies down and through the western wall into the ruined chamber to the north, standing next to Angelo. He casts a spell, laughing cautiously as he does so and four missiles shoot out, but instead of focus fire, he enjoys prolonging the pain and suffering of the group as one missile apiece hits Angelo, Hargrimm, Zauberei, and Lexi for 5 force each. It's not a lot of damage, but does at least tear away the akashic fortification that Hargrimm had offered to those people.

R5T14: Hargrimm draws out the wand from his pack and uses it on himself, which completely stops progression and fully heals his neck tendon and surrounding tissues and lymphatic system.

R5T13: The Splatter Man casts a spell, and again looking to cause more pain among many than for a tactical focus fire, arcane bolts fly out to strike one each at Hargrimm and Angelo for 3 force, Zauberei for 4 force, and Lexi for 7 force. The Splatter man cackles and moves west. In doing so, Marius sees a hint of the Splatter man and chucks the flask at him, but it shatters against the wall. Then, the Splatter Man is out of sight.

He determines that his door - like the one Lexi tried - aren't actually locked, but are stuck fast tighter than the other portals in this complex, and he is unsuccessful in forcing the door open.

R6T10: Wren's voice is heard from the northeast corner. "If they were just locked I could've opened it, but years of rust have made these doors incredibly hard to open, sorry."

R6T9: Lexi, well, it turns out it didn't open not because it was locked, but stuck. R7T14: "I don't fancy my chances with this door if anyone else wants to budge it." Hargrimm says as he steps aside from the door next to him. He stows the wand and prepares to throw another vortex at the Splatter Man.

R7T13.3-.0: The Splatter Man finishes his several-seconds long, very audible casting. "Go, kill. Kill everything!" his voice is heard cackling. There is a bunch of furtive squeaking heard.

Around the southwestern corner where only Angelo can see, a stream of oversized, hideous, red-tinged rats with strange bony projections appears. Two come up to Angelo, one of which nips him on the left forearm for 1 mod. A third comes around the south to also engage.

More casting is heard again, and as before, it is not a short bit as a normal spell, but continuous ...

In the meantime, Marius scuttles southward to help Angelo with the rats. He redirects all the irritation he feels at himself outward at the rats, and he releases this feeling by giving a haymaker stab at one of the rats with his polearm, but missing.

R7T10: Wren's voice is heard in the NE corner of the room intoning a spell. Then, from a different part of the room, Wren calls out, "The western run of rooms all appear to have their internal walls destroyed."
