The silver stars of the Eclipsing Moon (Chapter 2)

[Maryring]

After carefully searching both wells, the elf finds two copper coins at the base of the currently used well, as well as some moss growing on the walls. By the other well, she finds a diminutive patch of fur, definately not wolf fur, and little else of interest.

Meanwhile, the eyes of the Spirit Shaman can find no other spirit but that of his companion Vakri.

Lisaa

Lisaa shows the copper coins to the others. "Look, we are rich now.", she says jokingly. She takes a closer look at the patch of fur and also sniffs on it.

Bronsk
Bronsk sighs and he allows his eyes to focus again.
"No good. there iz no spirits here but Vakri. I don't...know what that could mean. I know once there was great disaster that drove spirits away from the forest; a great stone falling from the sky that destroyed the forest. Even then, there should be earth spirits! I do not know..."

[Ozzy_G]

You say you can't see any spirits, Bronsk, says Karl, sounding increasingly annoyed, but you've never seen any before, have you?

Bronsk
The normally-sunny healer scowls. "Do hyu think I lie? Do hyu think I iz crazy? Do hyu think I am just a silly hat man because I can't make things burn into flames? Sure then, I'll go; and I will return when I see another spirit." Bronsk slaps his own thigh and then stalks off down the road they'd followed into town.

Karl sighs, and mutters to himself in Nephrinian.

The patch of fur that Lisaa found seems to come from a rat. The hairs are unusually long for a rat though, and even without her heightened sense of smell, she realise that it smells remarkably well. Her wolf scent does register the trail of scent from said rat. Either, said rat must have come out of the well and left the village, or it must have come from outside the village and entered the well. There is nothing strange about the moss in the open well though.

And I'm going to see if any of you try to stop Bronsk and his search for spirits before I resort to private conversation with him.

[Lycar]

Varek watches Lisaa and Bronsk do their thing. It's not like he could really help with anything here.

He listens to the dispute between Karl and Bronsk with increasing dismay. Why wouldn't Karl believe Bronsk about the spirits ? Does he really think that Bronsk is just a madman, imagining things ? And that is coming from a frigging werewolf no less....

When Bronsk turns to leave, he looks outright unhappy. It's not right to split up like that. He looks between Lisaa and Karl for a moment.

"... it's never good to split up like that. So much i learned on the street. I better go with Bronsk, just in case..."

So Varek turns around and hurries after Bronsk.

"Hey Bronsk, wait for me ! Don't go all alone !"


Lycar

[Amiria]

Lisaa

Lisaa was rather oblivious to the argument during her search but now looks after Bronsk. "Hey, what's wrong ? Where are you going ? I found something else, this is a bit fur from a rat. It carries a strong odour, I can still sense the trail. "

[Ozzy_G]

He's going to look for spirits, says Karl, sighing. I'll come with you to find this trail while they're doing that.

[Maryring]

The werewolves then split up in two groups, each group heading in a different direction.

Later on, after the sun has set and the moon rose into the sky, Lisaa and Karl return to the well. Just a few minutes later, they are joined by Bronsk and Varek.

So, what did you find? asks Karl. He sounds like he's more asking out of politeness than really caring what Bronsk and Varek have been doing.

Bronsk
Bronsk seems to absorbed in thought to really react to Karl's vague condescension.
"Lisaa, Karl," he starts, looking up finally, "Iz very strange. Thiz whole forest...it haz a spiritual...hole in it. Yes, a hole. Spirits in it are sucked away and never come back. And thiz happened on a night had a new moon!"
He looks from one to the other.
"A spirit told me thiz."

[Lycar]

Varek

Varek nods vigorously. "It's true! I saw it with my own eyes! There are spirits and they are talking with Bronsk!"

"I mean... i don't know about spirits myself, but it's bad when they go missing. Right?"


Lycar

[Ozzy_G]

Karl looks at Bronsk quizzically. If the spirits are all being sucked in to this void, how did one talk to you?

Bronsk
The young healer huffs. "Why do hyu care? Hyu don't think I even see spirits."

[Lycar]

Varek rolls his eyes at Karl. "Cause they are, like, far away enough to not fall into the hole? We had to walk quite a bit before Bronsk found a spirit. And that said, they don't dare go near the village, 'cause spirits that do, don't come back. 'cept the young ones... whatever that means."

Lycar

[Amiria]

Lisaa

"It seems like something very strange and also bad happened here. Did you find out when it started ? Maybe when Violet was here or when she disappeared ?", asks Lisaa.

[Maryring]

As they argue, the wind suddenly shifts direction, throwing the scent of Maria right into their faces, revealing that the girl is somewhere close, and fast approaching.

[Ozzy_G]

Karl wrinkles his nose. We'll talk about this later, someone's coming...

[Amiria]

Lisaa

Lisaa nods and turns into the direction of the scent.

[The Great Skenardo]

Bronsk
Bronsk too sniffs the air.
"Iz that...that iz Maria?"

[Lycar]

Varek

Looking between his companions uncertainly, Varek asks "Uh.. what'cha doing? Who's coming?".


Lycar

[Ozzy_G]

Can't you smell that scent? asks Karl, somewhat surprised. That's a human, nearby.

[Lycar]

Varek looks at Karl confused for a moment.

"Uh... what do i know what people smell like? I mean, i do know what people smell like. I mean, i did grow up in a city. That place always smells like all kind of things. But i don't know... uh... "

What do people smell like? Dirty mostly. And the city is full of people. It always smells like poeple. What's so special about that? And right now?

Varek takes a few sniffs, trying to figure out if he can smell anything special.


Lycar

[Maryring]

Shortly after her scent betrayed her location, Maria steps out from behind some nearby houses. Through the moonlit night, the wolves can see that she has changed into a black robe with a raised hood that hides most of her body, leaving only her face visible, almost as a floating head in the soft darkness. The girl confidently strides forward towards the well, and doesn't seem to notice the presence of others until she is close to the well, where she looks up and backs away surprised at the sight. "You're out late strangers." She asks, recovering her act quickly.

Bronsk Siefsson
Bronsk snorts but manages to suppress a giggle.
She seemed about as threatening as mushy cheese out here, for all her posturing.

Well, it's a lovely night, replies Karl. You're out late too... off to see a boy? he says with a leer and a wink.

[Maryring]

Maria seems taken aback by the question and begins to blush. "Well... I guess... you could say that..."
