So we seriously need to decide where we're going to meet next Friday evening. I had a coffeeshop nearby in mind, but I was just in there tonight and realized that they're waaaaay more crowded Friday nights than other nights, so I really don't know if we'll fit fifteen-ish people in the place.

...So we're back to me being useless. Anyone have a type of place they wanna throw out here? *ponders*

There's an awesome vegetarian place right down the street from the Coffeeshop I was thinking of, and I could totally reserve us some tables if we wanna do that... Tommy's Restaurant

That place looks like fun. Both vegetarian and non- meals. If nobody objects...maybe we should meet there for six, have dinner, and from there plan whatever else we want to do that night/the next day/etc.?

Another idea thrown out in ootschat is that Bowling is a decent evening activity... there's a bowling alley in the area where from 9 PM-Midnight, you can get unlimited bowling for like $10, including shoe rental. The only downside is that the place is like a 20-25 minute drive from the area we'd be having dinner in, but I just thought I'd mention it since it had been discussed as a possibility in ootschat.

Those of us meeting at the hotel, are we just going to hang out there until it is time for dinner?

I am tentatively planning on leaving here around 7am, which should place me in the area around 3pm give or take the road conditions.

Ice Skating's a definite possibility, and I'll check the schedules, but I think the public skating sessions are usually in the afternoon, so I was thinking that could happen the second day. I don't know when people wanna hit the rock hall, Zombie had suggested that for something to do in the morning but it could happen whenever really.

Okay, here's what I see as the basic itinerary for Friday:

Anywhere from 3-5, those of us meeting at the hotel meet there:

Embassy Suites Hotel
1701 East 12th Street

Then, at 6 or so, we all meet at the restaurant for dinner:

Tommy's Restaurant
1824 Coventry Road

Then...something? Games at hotel?


Saturday = Meet at the Rock Hall sometime in the morning? Do that, have lunch, go skating and then...games at the hotel if we so chose?

Sunday = Meet, do something, have lunch, go home?

That sounds like a fairly solid outline in my book.

I just discovered that the skating rink near my house has canceled all sessions on Saturday and Sunday, because of a hockey tournament. We can still skate, but we're going to have to go to one of the other rinks further away from here.

Ugh, it's supposed to be in the 20s F and snowing.

There are two other skating rinks in the area, one in Shaker and one in Lakewood. Neither are TOO far away, but I don't know exact times as I've never been to either. Both have public sessions that weekend, so we can figure it out.

Skating!? LOL, that one I am definitely out of. Last thing I need to do is break an ankle on vacation.

But, if there is a bunch of us, no reason we can't split up a bit and do a few different things depending on what everyone wants to do. Coverfield does look really good so if I can convince other people to come with me, that's definitely something I'd like to do.

Also, about bringing the TV deal. I can arrange to bring my 20" flat screen. Its not huge of course, but at least that would give us something to play on. It would be a lot easier to bring than making someone drag a CRT-type TV to the hotel.

Looks like check-in at the hotel is 4 PM Friday, so I'll plan on arriving around then. For whoever was asking about how long people were staying around, I was planning on leaving Sunday sometime after lunch.

I was asking about Sunday leaving, for I was debating about begging Monday off, but with everyone leaving after lunch, I'll swallow my tiredness the next day and just show up to work on Monday.

And depending on what happens, I could have my arm twisted to see Cloverfield.

We'll have to leave Sunday around lunchtime I would guess, maybe a bit later, as Zeb has to work at 11:30 that evening, so we can't stay around all day anyway.

I'd love to go skating personally....bah....and I so considered bringing my skates back with me from Christmas break, just didn't have room. Not that I'm any good at skating mind you, but it sure is fun.

I don't have any real event preferences. I'm going to try to take off work early on Friday, but I don't have that nailed down yet. The earliest I might reasonably be there is 6:00, but I'd expect it to be more like 7:00.

Actually, turns out that Monday is a federal holiday, so Zeb doesn't have to work Sunday, and I may not have to work Monday either, so conceivably we may not have to leave as early.

Yeah, the skate rinks definitely have rental skates. I'll assume it's more common in Canada, but 'round here most people don't own ice skates.

I'm pretty much up for anything. That bowling thing sounds way fun, actually. Late night bowling for a decent price is always a good way to while away the hours with friends, in my view. And we should be done with dinner by then.
