The Sisters' Chronicles Thread 2: Nobody likes Abadaius

Ethrindae shook her head.
"I have a plan" she said "To not be as much of a weight anymore. Just... Don't expect me to punch anyone"

Kat whistled meanwhile, the literal damsel in distress.

"I did hope we'd meet up with them here, though. If only to say hi. Not even Nabar's around"

"I have a plan, too," Boots said. "I have to go back to that town where we had our first real performance. Where Gary died. I'm going to bring him back."

Alifa smiled. "That's lovely, Boots! How about me and Kat finish up anything we need to do here in Faerie, then we'll go meet you in the town? From there we'll plane shift to Goenna's to pick up Benjy and continue on our way from there."
Boots nodded. "Sounds good. Ethrindae, would you come with me? After I bring back Gary... we may have to restrain him for a day, so that he can survive the process of me healing him."

Ethrindae nodded.
"I'd follow you to hell and back"

Kat smiled "I'll be glad to accompany you to a cannibal Queen"

"Ask Pleia if the Krinna can harvest energy whatsits while you’re there," Boots said, but she was mostly busy kissing Eth.

"I… will." Alifa giggled at what Kat said. "Alright, Boots doing a good deed and me running an errand… oh, could you actually get a blacksmith to fit these…" Alifa pulled some loose jewels out of her portable hole, "Into a dagger? And here’s the diamond dust."
Boots passed Alifa the potions in her bag of holding.
"I will. Can you identify these while we wait for Fiamma?"
Alifa got to work.

The healing ones I told you of already.

Eight more potions:
- Potion of Fly, for all your concentration-less flight needs;
- Potion of Feign Death, make sure people don't think they failed to poison you;
- Lotion of Barkskin, don't ask how it works;
- Unguent of Elemental Weapon, with one use for each element- apply to weapon!
- Potion of Foresight, doesn't need explanation;
- Oil of Greater Restoration, now THAT is a massage;
- Lotion of Stoneskin, see Barkskin;
- Stupid Series of Stupid Smagical experiments, by the Marvelous Misterious Mysterio: Potion of Ordinariety. Drinking this potion makes you lose all your abilities for an hour, and nobody can really notice you. Can be ended early by really annoying people until they have to consider you, then you regain all your abilities.

At the end of Alifa's work, Nigghba walked in- the succubus held a Bloodlust so fat and grown it looked like a sword instead of a dagger.
"For you" said the succubus "By all means do bring it again" she said, looking exhausted but satisfied.

"You can use any dagger," Boots reminded her, taking it in her hand.
"Alright. You two, stay back," Clephesia ordered them both. She and Alifa got in the corner.

"What about you?" Alifa asked.
"I'll live."
Alifa nodded and undid her armor.
Boots stabbed her in the gut.
Alifa swore.

"It's much better when the dagger drinks you up" the succubus winked and left.

Kat balked.
Ethrindae frowned.
"The buttock hurts less"

Nigghba yelled from outside "Trust me, not less enough!"

And Alifa was set on fire.

Alifa doubled over and Boots hugged her tight.
"It’s okay."

It didn't really hurt THAT much. It just that Alifa's flames basically exploded, threatening to devour everything and everyone within range as Alifa felt her mind split up- a bestial side she didn't know she had, that just wanted to eat and sleep and possibly procreate but that wasn't really the point, emerged for a second there.

Kat jumped forward to try and help her, but Ethrindae held her back.
"Let THEM handle it"

The succubus poked her head back in to stare.

Hugging her REAL tight!

Boots pressed Alifa into the corner as her sister, wreathed in spectral fire, thrashed and clawed for freedom, to run, to move, to burn! The colors of her fire came together… and started charring her armor black.

As wholesome as it was, the truth was... Boots was going to hurt a LOT. To the point that even Filone, the weird lava fey that didn't speak and obeyed Fiamma's orders emotionlessly, came out to help her.

Ethrindae bit her lip and summoned Nasa's feys, that washed over Boots' body to help her withstand the burning EVERYTHING.

So.

I've rolled the damage and since it's pretty close to the average I'll just take that.

With Primordial Ward considered, which for the sake of my mental sanity is gonna extend to the whole time, Boots takes 14 damage each round for 8 minutes, before Alifa calms down. Ethrindae can help heal let's say taking an entire die away, leaving about 10 damage.

That totals up to 800 damage, which Boots needs to tank if she wants to keep Alifa back against the wall.

Filone (who is the one using Fiamma's Lair Actions) can give her the benefit of a short rest, once.

Up to you to find a way to get to the end.

Boots shone with white light and blotted out Alifa's darkness, even as her eyes went black and dark smoke came from her nose and mouth. Alifa shook and screamed out absurd words in Deep Speech and Sylvan while smoke spelled out her words.

Finally she shook to a stop in Boots's arms, crying blood.
"Hey... I know it sucks. But... how do you feel now?"
Alifa looked up. "Strong. Like... me." She pulled the dagger out and tossed it to one side. "We need to thank Dethera."

Alifa stood there, her glowing softly of an unnatural beauty- full lips, smooth, healthy blue-green color, she was more nymph-y.

And she had wings.

That was about the end of her similarities with Boots, though. Where Boots' wings shone of all the colors of the rainbow, Alifa's wings were dark and dreary, more like those of an actual crow or a raven then the brilliant wings Boots got. And her eyes had black tints to them, which made her all the scarier.

Not that Kat seemed scared. No, she was torn between worried and... A feeling she couldn't quite position.
She started walking but then heard the succubus catcall.

"Hey, if you need comfort I know a way" and Nigghba winked at Alifa.
Kat stopped and stared hard at the succubus. Ethrindae put a hand on Kat's shoulder knowingly.
"It's called jealousy. And anger. Jealousy because someone's ogling the woman you love and anger because they're being quite crass about it"
"And... What am I supposed to do about it?"
"Nothing, in this case. Alifa doesn't need a protector, wouldn't you agree?"
"...right"
"Besides, I think the best thing here is just ignoring her"

The succubus groaned and left, saying "Damn, now there's three of you with a stick up their ass"

Spoiler: About Alifa's new crunchy abilities

- 40 feet flying speed through wings similar to Tanaquill's Raven ones, just smaller;
- free Chill Touch cantrip;
- free known Dissonant Whispers, Gust of Wind, Hunger of Hadar, Evard's Black Tentacles, Antilife Shell, Soul Cage, Power Word Pain, Maddening Darkness and Psychic Scream spells;
- She can use each spell once each long rest without a spell slot, but they still first need to be of a level she could cast;
- She is under permanent Shadow of Moil which she can turn off and on at will;
- She gains Resistance to Necrotic;
- She gains a +2 to Dexterity, Constitution and Intelligence;
- her eyes are permanently darkened compared to her natural color- her body's otherwise mostly the same, but looks otherwordly beautiful, though a more lethal, dangerous beauty then her sister. Her Inner Beauty feature now Charms otherwise as per Charm Person, and can also cause Frightened like the Fear spell. She also gains the Calm Emotions spell-like ability, which is a fancy way of saying she can cast the spell at will using her strenghtened nymph nature to calm people's tempers or force them into submission. DC's the same.

Alifa lifted her wings experimentally and then flapped them, soaring over to Kat and kissing her on the mouth, pulling her in tight.

"She, uh... my grandmother is the goddess of the passage between life and death. I guess we got... different sides," Boots said. Then she looked Kat up and down.
"They're going to need a room for awhile. Queen Fiamma, is it alright if me and my wife head out? There's... a promise I have to keep."

There was a rumble in the volcano. Which... Was probably meant to be a reply, but nobody there spoke Vulcan.
"Knowing her, it's fine"

Kathleyîënis latched onto Alifa with her arms and legs and just forgot people were there, lost in her own little world kissing her girlfriend.

"Now that I think about it, your gods can have kids?" Ethrindae looked at Boots as if the concept was completely foreign.
"What are gods around your parts?"

[Xihirli]

"Gods," Boots said helpfully, taking Eth's hand.

The first few gods were created by Ao, a powerful alien being who came to our world seeking to use our planet for reasons we don't quite know. The rest are mostly... people, who got powerful enough to be called gods.

Alifa used telepathy so she could keep Kat's mouth on hers. Firaga... direction and distance to the nearest room?

Boots gave Alifa a hug and kiss on the cheek and patted her head to say good-bye. She held Ethrindae's hand and went off to get Tilly.

She had a life to return to the world.

"It's so weird to imagine gods as real people"[/I]

Outside, it took a little of calling before finally Tilly came back, all warm and fuzzy from her magma bath.
Did somebody get kidnapped again? Where to?

Kat appreciated not having to interrupt the kissing.

"Nothing like that, girl. We're going to a little town where I left behind a very sad woman who's about to be very happy."

Alifa smirked into Kat's face and lifted her wings, with difficulty taking them both into the room where she threw Kat onto the. bed.
"S-sorry," she said. "I don't know what came over me..."

That's great! Tilly jumped happily on her tiny salamander legs Let's go!

"So, Lucilla's crossing then just south until we get to Gary's and Britta's hometown?" Ethrindae confirmed.

[Xihirli]

"That’s right." Boots pulled Ethrindae closer against herself. "Let’s go!"

It was about a couple hours later that they got to the border with Lucilla's Bountiful Forests.

Boots took a minute to summon Tilly back as a Pegasus.
"Alright girl… let’s fly." and looking like the fey hero She always knew she would be, she went for the crossing.

After a while, Kat lifted her head after giving a small kiss to Alifa's neck looking refreshed.
"That was... wow. Think... We should get going?"

Soaring on the Bountiful Forests atop a pegasus with rainbow wings and an elf hugging her from behind, Boots almost reached the Crossing before Ethrindae spoke.
"Say... Have you ever tried becoming a Queen?" she asked.
"In my universe's sense. A Fey Monarch"

"That WAS wow. I’m glad we have these blankets to cover our collarbones with."

Soon Alifa was dressed. "Yeah, let’s get to Pleia’s."

"Well, I’m not staying," Boots reminded her. "So I don’t see the point. Also, I don’t know how I would do that."

[Valmark]

After getting dressed, they... Didn't have a mount.

"So, what road should we take to get there?" Kat asked after getting armored up "The most direct road is through Nasa's Seas, but maybe it'll be faster if we go around? Traveling on land?"

"Oh, no idea either. Just curious"

When they got through the Crossing, the deer druid waved at Boots (but not Ethrindae) and they were let through. At the edge of the forest, a bunch of corpses that probably had been there for a while now had been dumped, identified by symbols of Abadaius.

"I'd be happier swimming," Alifa said. "I can let you breathe underwater. And Nasa might have news for us."

"Ha!" Boots said to the corpses, and Scorching Ray'd the bodies so that they couldn't be brought back. She took some time to keep the fire from spreading.
"Oh, I love Faerie."

"Got it. Let's go then"

After only a few minutes (there weren't THAT many corpses) Boots and Ethrindae were back on their way. By the time the sun had set they had traveled a good long while, but still had a couple days of travel.

"Let's stop" Ethrindae suggested "I'm gonna show you something"

Alifa held her hand and started walking.

Boots obediently dismounted, looking at Ethrindae expectantly.
"I love it when you show me things."

Kat followed giddily as they took a stroll through the Volcano Lands- lava feys waving at them while playing or training together (there was not much difference) were their momentary companions, but otherwise it was a nice walk for only the two of them.

It took about eight hours before they got to the border with the Brilliant Seas- they could tell from afar by the fact that the only ones present were feys or elementals heckling one another, both those from the Seas and those from the Lands.

Sometimes someone would try using violence and then a kraken or a giant would emerge and carry away the troublemaker for a little chat about politeness, or a fire giant would. Generally, the feys took care of their own annoying members.

Ethrindae joined her hands together and when she opened them the shadow created by the joined palms stayed in place. She pulled it at its seams and carefully grew it out, expanding the little ball of shadows until it could encompass her, Boots and Tilly. Where it touched the ground little flowers bloomed happily and a fox came out to play.

"It's not as safe as your sister's huts" Ethrindae admitted "But it makes us hard to spot, and doesn't look weird from outside"

Heart of Moonlight and Shadow Verdant Forest

At 6th level, home can be wherever you are. During a short or long rest, you can invoke the shadowy natural power of the Gloaming Court Bountiful Forests to help guard your respite. At the start of the rest, you touch a point in space, and an invisible, 30-foot-radius sphere of magic appears, centered on that point. Total cover blocks the sphere.

While within the sphere, you and your allies gain a +5 bonus to Dexterity (Stealth) and Wisdom (Perception) checks, and any light from open flames in the sphere (a campfire, torches, or the like) isn't visible outside it.

The sphere vanishes at the end of the rest or when you leave the sphere.

Alifa marched right up to the water with Kat's hand in hers and touched along her neck, growing gills on the elf.
"Let's go." And into the water she plunged, ignoring the bickering of the fey.
