Re: [WFRP] The Bloody Crown OOC XV
A couple of specific goals for chatting up Corrado:
- See if I can get him to admit what happened in Arrow Heap, and possibly give details. A starting route in to this might be, after a few drinks, "so how come the Ogres aren't with you this time?"
- Try and get the idea into his head that maybe he shouldn't butcher a hundred starving farmers.
I don't know him super well so I think step one of the latter is trying to identify some levers to pull. Or maybe Friendly Acquaintance gives me some of that information? IDK, we're making it up aren't we. An example of this would be figuring out/remembering that he's a bit of a glory hound, and that there's none of that in killing the farmers, that a really slick job would be to do it only by knocking a few of them around. Or that he's got an eye for the ladies and doesn't want to pick up a reputation as a bully?
Baseline here's a Charm roll for this: (1d100)[52] vs 92 - 4DOSFate re-roll (1d100)[90]. And Perception to figure out what he wants? (1d100)[91] vs 68, Fate re-roll (1d100)[34] - 3DOS on the re-roll.
Note that Ludo's sticking to a single drink and keeping half an eye on the moonrise the whole time.Last edited by LeSwordfish; 2024-01-31 at 04:37 PM.

Re: [WFRP] The Bloody Crown OOC XV
I've put an IC post in, let me know if you want more details as to how Ludo's going about it - appealing to Corrado's sense of what a glorious and noble ruler would do. Or, I've tried to put an IC post up, let's see if it gets there through all the 504 errors.

Yeah, I've still been having difficulty getting on the boards, although it does seem much smoother today than any previous day this week.

I've found it pretty much impossible to log on here since the weekend at least. Trying to catch up now!

Yeah it's been pretty consistently terrible lately. Barring the admins breaking their silence about what's going on I don't know there's owt we can do but sit it out.

Re: [WFRP] The Bloody Crown OOC XV
Oh, I didn't answer Faber's question as to quantity of obsidian. I guess Urgrim would know better than me how big an ore you need to knap into a blade, but looking at easily available pictures, not very big? A small handful in one single block per scissor-blade, perhaps?

@Destro
So, Bardhyl's Intimidate test fails unless he happens to be eligible for a juicy circumstance bonus?

Re: [WFRP] The Bloody Crown OOC XV
Sorry, busy week last week -- will put a post up later today. However, yes, Urgrim's fine just to take the obsidian and leave Handrich's Cross, and the sensible route north is to go by road via Manann's Keep, so I will have him join the other PCs who are there.

Re: [WFRP] The Bloody Crown OOC XV
Happy to move on in Painford. Jarla was really just talking to the sergeant in case Ludo wanted to subtly grill him further. If not she's fine.

Having an annoyingly stressful and sleepless week so far. I'll try and get an IC reply up tomorrow evening.

Re: [WFRP] The Bloody Crown OOC XV
Spending an FP to re-roll Bardhyl's first attack. He now has 2 FP left.
If successful and Orso doesn't avoid the attack, Ulric's Fury is triggered for another +7 damage (see IC post).

Re: [WFRP] The Bloody Crown OOC XV
Urgrim's en route to Manann's Keep, so he should be there (or just outside it) to cross paths with Team Painford on the 26th. I didn't take the liberty of immediately writing their meeting because I figured Sieghard and Ludo might want to be a little reserved about how they're taking this whole Sforza's-ogres-eat-people thing before immediately telling the dwarf that they're going oathbreaker.
also why did I say obsidian was 'durable' in my previous IC post, that is the one word a knowledgeable person should not use to describe obsidianLast edited by Thragka; 2024-02-15 at 09:38 AM.

Re: [WFRP] The Bloody Crown OOC XV
Alrighty, let's roll Orso's defence:
Parry - (1d100)[27] (he's got his fancy trophy dagger for his off-hand)
Dodge - (1d100)[21]
Two successes!Last edited by LCP; 2024-02-15 at 02:40 PM.

Re: [WFRP] The Bloody Crown OOC XV
Hmm - much as I kind of want to see what happens here, my plan was for Ludo to remain in Painford when the others moved on. Is that okay, or would you prefer I decided he went with the others to keep the number of seperate threads down? He doesn't need to actually *do* anything in Painford unless something happens.

Crikey! The dice roller really hates me right now! A 98 and two 100s in a row out of five attacks!

Re: [WFRP] The Bloody Crown OOC XV
I hesitate to point it out, but it looks like the dead hand of Morr has anulled all of Orso's die rolls...

(1d100)[19], (1d10+5)[12]

Looks like 2 hits, 1 to the legs and 1 to the head. Head will be soaked but legs is 4 wounds?Last edited by LCP; 2024-02-19 at 01:43 PM.

Re: [WFRP] The Bloody Crown OOC XV
Yep, looks like.
I don't like this fellow very much at all. He's not obviously better than Bardhyl, just luckier. <sulk mode on>
Edit: Sigh. Two hits and again with the miserable damage rolls. Obviously I'll be using the DoS rule for the first hit, so that's two hits with 9 Wounds each, though I guess the second one plinks off Orso's armour.Last edited by rax; 2024-02-19 at 04:12 PM.

Re: [WFRP] The Bloody Crown OOC XV
@Thragka - I missed your post before and only just saw it. Sorry for not acknowledging Urgrim.
@LeSwordfish - If Ludo is staying in Painford, can he oversee getting construction started on a proper storehouse and also separating out what we're sending north for Sforza. Hopefully we can make this the last tax we send him, but until we can deal with him, better to play along.

Re: [WFRP] The Bloody Crown OOC XV
Ludo can do his best on that but I'm not certain what the manpower situation is, or what a "proper storehouse" would look like - I would assume the kind of rough timber buildings we've been putting together are even more vulnerable than Sieghard's Stone House.* Maybe we'd get better results shoring that up to make it verminproof?
*Name suggestion: Rock Place.Last edited by LeSwordfish; 2024-02-21 at 06:08 PM.

Re: [WFRP] The Bloody Crown OOC XV
Manpower I think you already have a picture of from your calculations about putting people on lumberjack duty - basically everyone is working to stay alive right now, to take on new jobs you have to redirect labour from somewhere else. The Thorns are your best resource for people whose time you can directly decide what to do with.
For vermin protection, raising your storage up off the ground is a historical solution. Or you could go round buying a lot of cats.

Re: [WFRP] The Bloody Crown OOC XV
@LCP
Re hitting Orso's head, the rulebook says you reverse the attack roll to determine the hit locations, which would make Bardhyl's two successful attacks hit the left arm (05 -> 50) and the body (06 -> 60). Maybe it makes no difference, but I thought I'd bring it up in case Orso's less well armoured on his arms (I've not actually grasped whether he's wearing all his armour or only had time to don some of it before the vrani barged in).

Re: [WFRP] The Bloody Crown OOC XV
Parry & dodge for Orso:
Parry - (1d100)[57]
Dodge - (1d100)[97]
Those won't pass with the spear penalty so I think that's another 4 wounds. Orso's taken 7 total.Last edited by LCP; 2024-02-26 at 03:50 PM.
