Katha takes the money with a smile and does a quick count.

"Lets see, that's 6 heads for meals, 6 copper crocs, another 6 for ales. Oh... well thats some funny looking coins. Still spends just as good though."

She heads to the bar and brings everyone a pint of the local ale, it has an earthy scent to it, but tastes like an ale would. Shortly after she brings out a simple dish, a creamy rice dish garnished with some greens, good flavor and filling.

"Tristan? Sorry, I haven't heard of any travelers by that name or description recently."

As Grey approaches Duncan, he turns when he sees a reflection of you in the window pane.

"A fellow traveler. Well, that depends on which way you came, and which way your going. Names Duncan. Have a seat Grey."

Katha looks up to Rose.

"Oh, Luc? Two weeks I guess? Musta seen some thing aweful to put him like that."

Luc drinks and eats with assistance from Rose.

Katha looks to Ted with a smile.

"Well since I work extra hard for tips, it helps to be friendly"

"Thanks." Grey says and sits after the invitation "And about where I'm from and what is my destination, well, I could answer you with a single word: Neverwinter." he answers half-jokingly, unsure if this Duncan even knows of his city. The Oracle then looks around and shrugs with resignation "My companions and I lost our way, unfortunately. Not sure what - or why - happened, but here we are." he pauses, looks around again "Heard the town has problems with...uh, dead people rising? Did you perchance know any of that?"

Duncan watches Grey, listening and drinking from his cup.

"Never winter? Must be nice to be is constant spring summer and fall, But the bandits must be something aweful."

He considers greys information and question.

"Oh, I am staying in the Inn, I want nothing to do with this problem, if I knew a safe place to stay at closer to the port, I would have left a week ago, 3 days, in three days I am making a break for the port, there should be a ship due in, and I plan to be on it and out of this swamp. Undead rising up, I've heard of foul magics, but usually there's a person doing it, here.... ita happening for no reason and that scares me."

Listening to Duncan chatter on, - So you expect a ship to come to port in three days from now, do you have an idea where that ship is going?

Grey almost jumps when Millie chimes in, still keeps his cool since he has sensed an opportunity "This is Millie, one of my associates." he introduces the little Elan, trying to sound professional "We might be able to provide protection the day you have to leave. For a small fee, of course."

Duncan looked over, then down slightly to see Millie.

"No girl, I haven't the faintest, just that its expected and it will leave the same day. I want out of here. The people weren't interested in this months stock, and I don't think I'll come back if they have undead issues"

Duncan looked to Grey at the offer of protection.

"Oh? What sort of rates do you charge?"

Amelie presses a full silver extra into the girls hand. She is disappointed that the girl hasn't seen Tristan, but keeps it minimal, she smiles at the girl's pluck.

"Indeed, Katha, and hardworking friends are the most helpful, aren't they? Is there anything else you can tell us about these attacks? Anything new or out of the ordinary? We want to help, we want to help you feel safe again."

Katha smiles as she pockets the silver.

"That smell. That god aweful smell keeps coming to mind, both me and Fiona smelled it. Id say youd wanna talk to her about it too, but she hasnt talked to many people recently... she might not open her door."

She nods over everything said.

"If people could stop dying, that would be a great start"

Rose busies herself keeping Luc company to ensure he gets a meal in without choking. She takes a moment now and then to feed herself as well, all the while listening to the conversation.

The foul smell seems to be a consistency with the deaths-slash-murders going about. Also, what happened two weeks ago? Did Luc happen to see something during someone's death? Rose feels like the party needs to write out a timeline of events for this mystery.

"Do the, uh attacks happen around the same time each incident, or at any time of day?"

Katha blinks and considers what rose asks.

"You know.... I hadn't thought about that.... no, I don't think they happen at the same time, not that I have a way of telling time here in the inn other than its breakfast, lunch, or dinner. But I could be wrong about that."

Duncan looked to Grey at the offer of protection.
"Oh? What sort of rates do you charge?"

If Grey was still in Neverwinter, he would certainly know what to say: charge high, haggle a bit, then settle for a reasonable price; main problem, he has no idea what a reasonable price would be in this cursed place. He throws a look at Millie, silently asking for help - something he's definitely not used to do and that scares him almost more than the undead rising - so he stalls a little to give the Elan the time to chime in "Well, you're a merchant. What kind of goods you trade? Might've something we need."

Duncan exhales a sigh.

"I was a supplier for the basic goods and perishables for the town, a resupply for the general store, I would even take custom orders to bring back the next time I come back. But I think that time is over, I've sold all my stock to Jerald, Louise, and Deruno, let them know I'm not coming back until they've sent word that the undead situation is over. If you are looking for goods to buy, Deruno is your best bet, he runs the general store."

Cheyanne watches and listens, doing her best (but probably failing) to fade into the background. The attractive and athletic monk may be quiet, but her appearance doesn't let her hide in plain sight very well. She's relieved that Katha doesn't appear to be as provincial in attitude as the priest was. When offered services Cheyanne smiles and relaxes, raising her hand to indicate she will partake too.

"I think we need to get on a roof and stake out the place at night, see what is going on out there."

Cheyanne puts a hand gently but firmly on Ted's arm. "You and I can do that tonight as long as no one sees us. We'll let the others rest, though," she says, recognizing that their physical strengths will help but that the magic-users need more rest.

"It can, but it also makes friends - thank you for being so welcoming," Cheyanne says with genuine appreciation. "Father Brucian left us worried that not all of us would be greeted so kindly..." Before getting too much into her own head again, Cheyanne tries to perk up and asks, "Where might we find 'Fiona' if she does open her door? Is she as friendly as you?"

Cheyanne then digs into her rice, relieved to be eating food cooked over a stove instead of a campfire.

Katha nods to Cheyanne.

"Paying customers are easier to be accepting to, than someone looking for a handout, long as you have coin, you are welcome in the full moon inn. Helps having such a handsome front man as you do."

She nods toward Grey who is in discussions with the man sitting at the window along with Millie.

"Fiona, if you head down the road towards the church, go passed the church, she the first cottage on the left. She.... is a bit older, and not as open to outsiders, especially since her daughter went missing." [[Building #12]]

Cheyanna smiles and raises her bowl. "This is very good. Let me give you coin for another bowl...is there any meat stewing, or eggs that can be boiled too? I'll pay extra," Cheyanne answers as she fishes out five coppers from her pouch for Katha.

Katha sees the 5 coppers and nods, collecting the coins. She brings back another bowl but with 2 boiled eggs and single slice of bacon.

"Is there anything else your group would like, the kitchen will be closing momentarily for the Funeral this afternoon."

Cheyanne smiles gratefully at the delivery before looking startled. "Funeral? Oh, I'm sorry...is it rude to ask who passed?"

Katha solemnly speaks.

"Jeremiah D'gris, he passed away last night, constable claims he died of old age, but he wasn't much older than a man in their prime, must have been his heart, lost his son last week."

"Did his son d- pass away from what is plaguing the town?" Rose asks

Katha frowned.

"Fell from a tree, he was found with his neck broke at the base of the tree. Terrible thing. Boy was always climbing, never knew him to fall, ever. But I guess you only need to fall once for ... well.... it was terrible."

a terrible thing for certain, were there any signs of foul play in the sons death?

Katha looks shocked at the question.

"Foul play? He was a kid, barely out of his growth spurt. Who would kill a kid? Never hurt anyone. No, I can't imagine anyone meaning him any harm."

Since Millie has chosen to go back to the table where they both were, Grey sighs and mulls over how much to ask; again he stalls a bit to get some time to think "Mind telling me where this store is? Just so we don't have to wander aimlessly around, especially given the current predicament this town finds itself in." he says with a half-concerned smile before making his offer "About our wage. We're six experienced adventurers, so I would say a hundred gold each is a fair price."

Duncan baulks at the price Grey offers and spits up his drink, he wipes his sleeve across his mouth.

"A hundred? I would pay a hundred for 10 guards to escort a shipment for a month! Id like to make it alive, not robbed of my purse!"

Duncan baulks at the price Grey offers and spits up his drink, he wipes his sleeve across his mouth.
"A hundred? I would pay a hundred for 10 guards to escort a shipment for a month! Id like to make it alive, not robbed of my purse!"

Grey groans and rolls his eyes "Well, duh. This is when we start haggling and you make a counteroffer until we both agree on a reasonable price, Duncan." he then chuckles to ease off whatever tension his offer might've provoked in the merchant "But know this: ten guards couldn't hold a candle to the six of us. We're that good." he ends his own speech with a wink, mostly to hide how he doesn't really know how economy works in this Ravenloft.

"Well you certainly know how to throw out an outrageous starting bid. I'm not one for haggling with wages, I give standard wages, but I'll offer you this. Usually a escort job is a month at a time. This is a 12 hour job. I'll pay you for the month if you get me on that boat safe without harm, and my purse unmolested. You'll have your 10 Golden Frogs each."

Duncan takes another drink, calming down.

This is a 12 hour job. I'll pay you for the month if you get me on that boat safe without harm, and my purse unmolested. You'll have your 10 Golden Frogs each."
Duncan takes another drink, calming down.

Are ten gold coins that much around here? Grey doesn't really know, but he can't back away without showing his weakness; so he nods, pretends to think it over and than says "It would be enough if we were just brutes. We're adventurers and among us there's also a healer that could save your life. So double that offer and you have a deal." Grey concludes with a reassuring smile, trying to retain some control over the conversation.

Again Grey mulls over the offer Duncan has made, then relents and nods "All right, you have a deal." he says with a warm smile - sure, pay is somewhat lousy but at least they're going to get some local coins and maybe even get the chance to board a ship out of this forsaken place; he then extends his hand and nods towards his companions "I'll let my associates know we're going to escort you to port, three days from now. Early morning is fine?"

"I'll draw up 6 contracts by then, describing job expectations, pay, and the altered time from a month to 12 hours."
