When our group had just turned to 3rd or 4th level, we had this scenario that was supposed to be an infiltration mission designed for 4 PC's. One player had to cancel on a short notice, but we decided to go with 3 players anyway. From the start, the Gods of Chance were against us, and we failed our Deception spectacularly, and what should've been at best a series of quick skirmish fights, turned into us "aggroing" the whole camp of cultists, and finally, when the initiative list was ready, we were looking at a battle field with odds 3 vs 30+ in a single fight. And we wiped them out!

This time: 1st session of DM's own design, by public demand (at first, the idea was to get a level-up after each scenario, but since it's been really, really fast progress, and we haven't gotten to use much of our earlier new abilities, we called for a time-out), and so, still an 8th level party.

The session steamrolled us, by turning two medium-to-hard encounters into one deadly encounter, and we almost had a TPK (I think it was our own fault, though). And it was GLORIOUS! (cue "We want more! We want more!" chanting)

We dropped a sperm whale on the big bad.

The DM did allow a creative dismissal of Wall of Thorns to result in a potted flower. To which I of course said, "Oh no, not again."

Whilst pursuing the Usurper's Vizier, we stumbled into a room with two horned devils, two champions, one arch mage, one war priest, and a nalfeshnee - all of whom we defeated.
