Everybody seems to be able to avoid the roots trying to grasp them. Only Isidros steed gets caught in the twisting plants.
Olivers rapier arm hits the rat twice and cuts deep wounds into its flesh. The rat squeaks a last time before it falls over to the back and the roosts start twisting around its dead body.

@Kentma57: Another rat cast a new entangle spell. For a quick encounter creation I only made 3 different types of rats, all with the same feats, classes, levels, skills and spells prepared.

A2 is left (one of the three rats that attacked their own men)

Merien

Turning her horse, Merien trots through the roots and plants. "There's no need to kill all of them, Daren," she calls as the rat-thing pleads for mercy, moving up alongside him. "Not if he says he'll help us." She turns her attention to the rat. "How do you think you can help?"

With a smirk on his face "True we don't NEED to kill him, but it would be funny" then Richard turns to Crispy and Crispy's nose twitches a bit "Your right sir, Crispy says we should interigate him, then kill him."

Isidro

Isidro dismounts, patting his horse's side reassuringly before leaving it in the roots. "I see no reason to spare this creature from Wee Jas's judgment. But I see no need to hasten its death unnecessarily. Do what you will, Merien, but don't give the rat a chance to betray us."

Bjorn Silverhand

Bjorn, now on foot, approaches the group huddling around the rat, "Oh really, there's no need to kill it, chain it perhaps, but as long as it cooperates there shouldn't be a problem." Bjorn stares coldly at Richard before continuing, "Yes Richard we should interrogate it, but if it willing gives us all the help we need, why kill it?"

Well, it's not like he's much of a threat. Let's hear what he has to say for himself. If he's useful, he can live until the next time he's stupid enough to attack a group like ours. If that group is ours again, though, after we've theoretically spared you, that would go most unpleasantly for you. This last sentence obviously directed at the rat as Alrik cracks the knuckles of one set of claws while gesturing to the piles of dead bodies with one of the others.

Merien

Merien nods, and turns back to the rat-man. "Most of us would rather not kill you, as long as you're honest. Tell us how you thought you might be able to help us, and if you're truthful nobody is going to hurt you." She looks steadily down at him, eyes betraying perfect honesty.

Oliver refolds his remaining rapier. This done, he picks up his other arm. "Do we have any way of getting this re-attached?"

With a bit of a sigh "Fine Crispy and I agree, but if you betray us I have a new spell I've been wanting to try..."

"Rak no betray! Clan only attack because hungry. No food! Need eat-eat!", the little rat mutters hastily "Rak know land. And know clan. Can show ways. Rak no mighty warrior. Not like tall ones! but Rak can keep clan away from tall ones. Or lead-lead. Rak know land. Can lead!"

"You where hungery, well thats a diferent story" with this Richard reaches into his pocket, pulls out a days worth of ration and hands them to the rad-creature...

Daren

Daren sheathes his sword, still bone white dispite all the blood it has spilled, and rides over to Oliver. "Do you heal naturaly, construct?"

Delnar

Crossing over to Oliver, he inspects the arm. "Hopefully we can get you fixed up... hopefully. If worst comes to worst, we can always bill our employer."

Oliver looks at Daren "Yes. I have an approximately human regeneration rate. Hence, I can't re-heal this without magical assistance." He answers a confused Daren (assuming Daren is confused about magic working on a construct) "The metals I am made from are susceptible to positive and negative energy. They can be restored magically."

I've got some wands that do some minor healing, though I myself am terrible at using them. Perhaps one of our more magically adept friends could use them on you. Though, if you need repair, rather than healing, I'm afraid I can't help you out.

Daren

Daren is not confused in the least. "If you would hold the arm to the stump, there may be something I can do." Once Oliver has the arm in place, Daren will murmmur a small prayer to whatever force of justice operates in this world. Black light gathers around his armored hand in a swirling nimbus. The darkness blossoms with flecks of shimmering silver as Daren lays his hand across the severed limb, pouring positive energy into the construct's arm.

Merien

Merien glances with some concern at Oliver's arm, but the others have it better in hand than she could. "Well, we could use a pathfinder," she replies reassuringly, "especially if you can help us avoid more ambushes. Are there other clans, or was your clan much bigger than the ones we saw here?"

[Threeshades]

As the magic energy from Daren sinks into Olivers arm, the deformed metal starts to move back into its original position and melts together. As Daren takes his hand away, Oliver's arm is back in place without a scratch as though it was never harmed.

"Not whole clan. Just hunters! Many hunters, look for food-food! Many more! Young ones need care! Many more-more!"

With the construct healed, Daren will ride about the area, visualy inspecting the corpses for now.

I'm examining the corpses for suitible canidates for my Fill the Ranks ability. We downed one of the rat leaders, right?
Also, if it's possible to identify creatures that might animate from negative levels, I'd like to know if I spot any.
