Re: The Order of the Stick
May I ask why?
I also think that by now your "players" might be logging in on their own?
But no, they're not logging in here. As I've told Rich, they wouldn't be frequent visitors, but even the possibility of their presence would prevent me from freely posting on the message boards, which I really want to be able to do.
And they can probably decided for themselves what they like or not with out you "censoring" for them.
And I know that several of the women in my gaming group would just give a heavy, frustrated sigh at seeing this one. Just one more place they have to see this trend, it's tiresome. Don't get me wrong. I think Rich has good intentions, and I'm not digging deep on this one. My friends like the comic. I'll keep sending it to them, but I'd rather not lose them on it. That's all. :)
Let's not get into big discussion on this one. It's not worth it. All is well.Ashlock.org

If you are going to call me a purveyor of stereotypes, we are going ot have a discussion of it.
This particular episode, as I see it (I stress that), doesn't so much make fun of stereotypes as it does purvey them.Ashlock.org

Re: The Order of the Stick
I say we have a vote as to V's gender. Then, after all the votes are tallied, Rich can do a strip (with the oots characters doing the voting) and reveal it to all of us once and for all. :)
Or not. :P\"If Woody had gone straight to the police, none of this ever would have happened.\"&&~Narrator from the Woody the Woodpecker cartoon

Re: The Order of the Stick
Nope no vote. I seem to be the only one who believes she is female. Let me have my belief. Let me enjoy it. If V was revealed as a male I'd be dissappointed....that is until Elan gave V the girdle of femininity/masculinity and then I'd be happy again.

Re: The Order of the Stick
Yeah Jade if you check posts from way back when that strip was first introduce we discussed V's gender then and that's when the Giant informed us that the gender could go either way and he wasn't telling.
Which is good for me because I always thought V was a she and now I don't have to have my image of her ruined.

That's not a trap. THIS is a trap.
Can't believe you didn't add a "drain wand" panel to the trap. ;)

Re: The Order of the Stick
Oh, does this reminds me of the trap my character came across in my first campaign ever.
My rogue, having failed to successfully disarm a magical trap a few minutes earlier, found yet another trap. Nervous because she'd taken a bit of damage from the first one, the party started to plan some other way of getting past the trap. In a fit of frustration, one of the other players said, "My character has a lot of HP, I'll just take the damage and we can move on."
So his Con-based psion strode boldly up to the trap and set it off... Only to be hit by Greater Glyph of Warding with Harm attached.
The experience has remained a valuable teaching tool in my gaming group. It serves to remind the players that sometimes, hit points aren't important, that it pays to be careful, and that - if he really, really wants to, the DM can completely annhiliate you.
:)

Re: The Order of the Stick
Heh. The strip was directly inspired by Alestan, the halfling rogue in the current campaign. He searched a big important-looking door for traps, I told him he didn't find any. He reported that to the rest of the party—then went into another room to hide while they opened it. ;)
