    Duglan starting to get a little anxious, began riciting battle songs in his head to keep himself from running through the door and ruining their surprise. But soon after, he begins he realizes that battle songs are the last thing he needs to calm him down, so he takes a few deep breaths and watches as Van creeps towards the door.

    Van get tries to see in the barely open door just to realized that the door opens in such a way as to see a wall. You hear low guttaral whispering in what you think is Ragesian Orc. You cannot make out what is being said. They do sound like they are in the room the door opens into.

    As Van goes through the gate, the rest of the group quietly comes up to the gate to keep an eye on Van.

    Van searches high and low for any other ways into the room and then sneaks back to the group.

    "As best as I can tell," he whispers, "it sounds like there are two Ragesians holding a child hostage in that room there. It's fortuitous that we decided to follow them here, but I'm not sure what the most ideal method would be to save the child. Does anyone have any suggestions?" Van looks around hopefully, then back across the courtyard.

    There is a window on the second floor but no obvious way to get to it. You would assume there is a front door, but there may be more eyes there too. No windows because this is a pretty cold place most of the time, and windows let in cold.

    We have to get the orcs in melee as fast as possible, so they can't do anything to the child. Garret, Duglan, Claire, kick in the door and charge them. Van, you should grab the child at the same time, bring it back to Torrent and me. We can use spells to protect it without attacking.

    Garret kicks open the door and charges into the living area of the small apartment. Jumping over a squat table, Garret brings his greatsword around, catching a half-orc on the shoulder, biting between the layers of his full plate armor. He does not fall, but slowly and cautiously turns around and stands up. He looks bumped and bruised and is now holding his right arm. The other half-orc was rummaging through a pantry cabinet, and, after the door slams open, drops some jars and reaches for his axe at his hip.

    Claire enters the room quickly after Garret, following his movements. She quickly reaches the orc that was wounded by him, swinging her heavy morningstar against the creature. Quickly trying to connect her attack, she turns and takes a second swing at the monster, trying to kill him.

    He shrugs and fires at the orc by the pantry, just before Duglan charges him. Once Duglan is in melee he puts his crossbow aside and casts a spell on the other half-orc.

    Van steps through the door next and sidesteps five feet. Looking for the kid at the same time nocking an arrow, he lets the arrow fly toward the Ragesian at the pantry. The arrow hits it's mark in the neck of the half-orc. He drops with a look of supreme shock on his face. At that point Van hears a frantic, muffle wailing come from the pantry. Claire wades in with her weapon whirling but not connecting with the dodging half-orc. Duglan charges in uses the squat table as a launching board, he is level with the half-orc's head as his axe drives into his skull.

    Coming out of the adrenaline high, everyone notices the horror before them. The kid is tied and gagged in the pantry closet. The parents are dead, stacked like firewood along one wall. Torrent walks over to the dead and blesses them, she yanks the curtain off the windows and covers the bodies. A curious neighbor glances in the door, woken by the short but loud fight. She deduces what happened by the bodies, runs over to the now untied child and comforts him as he cries. She explains,"I will get my husband to find the guard and explain what has happened here. I will also find a good place for the child. You have done a great service dispatching these butchers."
