Re: Age of Ruin OOC: Facing down destiny
Hello, i'm back from my little trip.
Weather got good on day 3. So good i got a bit of a sunburn too. Ouch.
But i'm all better now.
Sooo..... this raises the question: Orin apparently managed to catch the priest in a sort of lie... well Ozzy, would you allow Orin to use his feat to try and trick him into revealing the truth inadvertedly?

Ooh, it's really a bit late for that, sorry... but feel free to make more sense motive checks (all of you listening to him) and you'll probably have another opportunity.

I'd also like an SM to figure out why Az is being so choosy with his words, and/or if he's lying at all.

edit: wooot! but, a natural 20 looks so sad when you roll with a negative modifier. :(Last edited by knewsom; 2008-07-30 at 09:38 AM.

Wow, we've suddenly all become so much more aware of what's going on (except for Orin, who suspected all along).

Re: Age of Ruin OOC: Facing down destiny
Either way, Orin didn't miss Wesal almost slipping when he said he was the only priest left... or that Azakan didn't look like he lost a fight with a housecat when he slipped away from the battle at the cliff.
Maybe someone should ask him who he had to beat up to get in here?
I'm considering having Orin slip off to explore the next tunnel while the rest of the party keeps badgering Wesal and Azakan for clues. I'm not sure if this is a good idea though. Suggestions?

Re: Age of Ruin OOC: Facing down destiny
Yeah, uh, Kaleff isn't thinking just that, pacing around behind him. Nooooo.
I can't wait to get Kaleff's hands on that illusory double spell. Would work great with his invisibility and teleportin' skillz. You know, Kaleff could probably throw down an image of Orin, if, you know, he didn't talk so much.

Re: Age of Ruin OOC: Facing down destiny
Maybe Orin could pick up Perfomance: Mime.
But the illusionary double trick could still work. It's not like Orin can't shut up. He just likes to hear himself talk. Because that's the one thing he's good at. As opposed to, say, cutting stuff in half with swords.
But yeah, he could totally cast invisibility and sneak off doing GM knows what if we could get our characters to come up with a plan.
Remember that Orin is still keeping himself in the background.

Re: Age of Ruin OOC: Facing down destiny
Okay: Draven and Sumner realises that Azakan wants help, but doesn't believe Draven will be effective. He's choosing his words carefully because he is worried about someone here. He's definitely hiding something, something he doesn't want to hide.
Kaleff, Orin and Ismal realise that Wesal doesn't want to answer any of their questions, and he's not telling the truth. He wants to get the ritual done quickly. And not because he wants peace for Davethra, it's for something else.

Re: Age of Ruin OOC: Facing down destiny
Well, i believe that Weasal is telling a half-truth about gods not needing to eat anything. Let's see if Orin has a hunch ....
Sense Motive: (1d20+11)[20]
Either way, there is still one question: Who is going to control the God of Davethra? After all, we have to make sure that the new god doesn't get any .. ideas... So who is holding the leash then?
And not to mention that the other, established, gods might not look too favourably upon an upstart newcomer...
But before Orin launches into a monologue adressing these concerns, maybe the others want to put some questions foreward themselves?

Re: Age of Ruin OOC: Facing down destiny
Kaleff's 'See Invisibility' spell should still be active, 1hr 40min duration and all. Not that he would think anyone invisible would be in the room. No illithids, noo....

Re: Age of Ruin OOC: Facing down destiny
I don't think Azakan is worried about an invisible presence... I think it's more along the lines of the priest and possibly Summer. Az doesn't know about the spirit having left him, if indeed it even has.

In other news, after a month of hassle, and an engineer deliberately doing his job wrong to get bonuses (stupid BT) we've finally got home internet access. Hoorah! So I can post several times a day rather than just once.

Re: Age of Ruin OOC: Facing down destiny
Okay, this is totally off-topic but i just HAVE to ask:
How on earth can someone earn a bonus by doing his job deliberately wrong?
And yeah, sure he isn't outright lying. That's the first lesson you learn taking ranks in bluff: Never use a lie where merely leaving things out suffices.
Seriously though, we don't seem to make any progress trying to figure this guy out.
So how about Orin just declares to be bored and wanders off? It's not like Weasal could do terribly much to stop him, right?

Well, Ismal can keep chipping away at him. And if he has nothing to hide (living in a cave with an elaborate door lock notwithstanding), he won't object to you wandering around.

Just to remind you where Azakan is sitting: not sure if Skenardo's misunderstood or being poetic. He's sitting on the floor with his back to the marble altar, the only piece of furniture in this room.

Re: Age of Ruin OOC: Facing down destiny
Guh.. that happens when the people thinking up these kind of bonus plans are a) dumber then the people benefiting from them or b) too trusting into the inherent honesty of people or c) both.
Either way, now that Wesal had to hurry after Orin to stop him and Orin is happily blathering away at him, a whispered conversation between Draven and Azakan should be able to commence without Wesal listening in.
Orin uses Captivating Speech on Wesal, Diplomacy (1d20+20)[22], opposed by Wesal's own Diplomacy or Will save, failure imposes a -4 on his Listen, Sense Motive and Spot checks.
Okay Draven's turn to convince Azakan to give us a real clue.
