The man carefully takes it from your hand. After he spends a few seconds looking it over he nods. Alright, just be careful out there. The looters are the least of it.

"The least of it?" Anthony asks, taking back his writ from the man, "its about time somebody told us, what are we going to be facing? What is behind there that is so dangerous it needs to be barricaded in?"

Some religious guy and his followers went crazy. At first we thought it was more looters but then they started doing really weird stuff. Anyway, just watch your back.

[Questor]

Audax eyeballs the spokesman for the masked men. "Crazy how?"

[The_JJ]

One of the other masked figures leaps onto the wall, strikes a dramitic pose and begins to declaim, one hand over his chest, the other out stretched Yea, for the cleansing has begun, and these barbarians are but unwitting tools of the plan, come to purge the sinful from the city. Already the unpious dog that have so made our lives, the lives of the Choosen, so hard have fled. Now let us continue the work and...
You get the point. We get the point Tom.

[Questor]

"Riiiight." Audax rolls his eyeballs. "Because wild barbarians were not enough, we get a side-dish of religious lunatics."

Audax takes a peek around the barricade for zealots of either flavour. If there are none present, he will begin to lead the group in a cautious and sneaky manor towards the estate once more. If there are gibbering zealots on the other side, he pulls up and assesses the situation.

"Let us tarry here a moment longer, there is more yet to be learned."

Thelonious addresses the spokesman for the masked men. "Look, I hate to keep bringing this up, but who are you guys? If I was the sort to judge by appearances, I might be inclined to think that you yourselves are members of some cult. The robes and masks are sort of atypical garb for, well, anyone who isn't a cult member. So, now, thanks to my overeager companions you can be certain that we are with the city, but we, as yet, have no idea who you are, or where your loyalties lay."

[The_JJ]

No problem sir. We, until two days ago, were the Red and Blue Romilian Gang, a small time operation sepecializing in burgalary of rich merchents and hired mucle for several Mafia families. Today, we are the Red and Blue Romilian Irregular Militia. He profers his own paper, writen in the same hand writing of your own. I t has the same seal and signiture, giving the gang similar rights as you, in exchange for pardoning of all non-violent crimes commited before the war.

"Oh." Thelonious smiles a bit sheepishly. "You guys sure put the irregular in irregular. I guess we'll be going then."

[Questor]

"Right then, back to the task at hand. We accepted a mission, let's try not to get sidetracked." Audax takes another peek over the barricade. If no one else can be seen, he begins to head for the estate once more.

Quiet and unoticed during this all (just as he prefers) Jimiel follows.

Anthony

Anthony was starting to become bored by all this talking and so was happy when the young man started to move into the estate again. "About time.." he muttered under his breath as he followed the others.

[The_JJ]

You slip past the wall and head to the O'Devard mansion. It's a large building with it's own drive way, decorated with statues, now smashed and overturned, and a large double door hanging by it's hinges. Around back, the servent's entrence is untouched.

Thelonious

"Looting mansions isn't really my specialty, any one have any ideas on how to best go about this?"

[Questor]

Audax appears a bit uncomfortable taking the lead. "Perhaps we should try the door that has not been obviously breached yet? Someone with sharp eyes and ears might check that servants door, and then we could try to make our way in."

Audax readies a sleep spell.

Anthony

"Sharp senses?" Anthony says with a little smile, "I'll see what I can do." He moves as quietly as he can towards the door, sliding up along the wall next to it. Listening as hard as he can and looking for anything out of the ordinary Anthony focuses on the task at hand.

You make you're way to the door without insident.

"Should be all clear, I can't hear anything through there." He then gets himself so he is ready when the others want to enter.

Thelonious looks around at the group, and whispers "Can anyone get this open? Without making a huge racket? Perhaps we should try the obvious first." He then reaches out to try the handle.



Edit: Decided to try the obvious.

Rattle, rattle.

The door swings inward.

Triss

Now that the group had a definable entry point Triss dismounts Ivy and rubbing her friend's muzzle whispers to the horse. "You keep quiet and out of trouble while I'm gone you hear."

Ivy gives a soft whinny and trots off to find a comfortable place to lie down. Triss unfastens the cord keeping her scythe to her back and prepares herself for any fighting that may happen.

To her companions she speaks, "I'll take point. Your shield may come in handy if things go sour Thelonious, you're up front with me. Anthony keep close and have your eyes and ears peeled for anything out of the ordinary. You two watch our backs."

Unless objections are made Triss will peer through the doorway before leading the group into the building.

So what do we see inside the house? Is it lit well enough to see?

Anthony chuckles as the woman quickly takes lead, "aye aye, cap'n". He keeps his hands bunched up into fists at his side as he continually scans the area, looking to see if they were walking into a trap.

Inside is very dark. The kitchen you find yourselves in was apparently windowless, and all the lamps have gone out. Directly in front of you you can make out a door, leading into a better light room, while to the left and right the kitchen disappears into darkness.

[Questor]

Audax taps his foot impatiently. "Seriously folks, we need to make do with what we have. There are no experienced burglars in our group, or at least not openly so. Either someone who is sneaky and perceptive or else someone who is rather large needs to get out in front and get this party started. Can anyone see in the dark? If not, I suggest we move towards the light very slowly."

[CaseyRobinson]

"I suppose yer right. And while I can't see in the dark, I can perhaps even the field a bit in that regard." Thelonious begins to chant "Light of truth", then touches his shield. Light emits from his shield, brightening the immediate area. He then steps through the door into the kitchen, pausing just inside the door to take a better look around.

Anthony sighs to himself as the holy man casts his magic, shedding light to the surroundings. Subtlety was definitely out of the window now, they would be a shining beacon to anyone watching, sitting ducks inside the house. He did not voice his opinion however and instead followed the priest, standing to the side of the doorway to ensure his safety if the room was occupied.

As the kitchen is lit up you can see that it has been ransacked, with pots and pans strew about the floor and smashed open drawers and so on.

To the left you can see that the kitchen dead ends, but to the right you can see another door.

[Questor]

Audax pokes through the rubble, looking for any closed containers, cabinets, etc. "If anyone is particularly sneaky," he whispers harshly, "I suggest you take a peek in the next room."
