@ Curly : It's HamaRtia, not HaRmatia. Harma has a different meaning.

Peripeteia (Περιπέτεια) is the adventure in modern Greek.
And in tragedy, it's the reversal, the turning point.

    peri = round, peteia(pitein) = falling

Well, anyone dies when you stake them which was something I've always found funny about vampire stories ever since I was about seven or eight.
Yeah. Miss Logic and Fantasy Lover. Bad mix.

Let us unite: Vampires R Us? No. We need a better name.
Besides; I could tell all sorts of gory ways people used to identify vampires. Some including desecrating graves and all sorts of things.
But I won't unless asked to show respect for some of our frailer non-vampiric companions.

Wooden stakes kill some vampires. The vamps in the Blade movies are only vulnerable to sunlight, blood coagulant and silver (unless they're possessed by Blood Gods or genetically-engineered or Dracula). Cassidy from the Preacher comic has been staked before, and while it hurt like hell, he got better. (He could survive anything, even decapitation. Sunlight killed him pretty dead though.)

@V: Yeah, but he was resurrected in that case. And even then he came back as a human, not a vampire.

And that's one of the essential plot points of Preacher spoiled right there.

@@V: Cassidy's death. Big spoiler for anyone reading the series.

God the third most powerful being? Depends on your interpretation. On his throne, God could do anything. He could have handwaved the Saint of Killers out of existence. And Genesis died when Jesse did, so not that powerful.

And he came back even from that. He made a deal with the third most powerful entity in Creation (read: your Lord the God) though, so it was OK.

^ Which part, the part where he comes back, the part where he dies or the part where God is the third most powerful entity? Cause the latter is spoiled in the first volume of the series. The part where he comes back isn't a big deal, everyone comes back from the dead once during the series. The part where he dies... OK, that might be kind of a spoiler, but it's Garth Ennis. Everyone dies at some point.

What are you talking about? All vampires are the same.

Also, the One True Temperature Scale is defined by:

    0.5 * ln( (x - 5)/(17 - x) )

    where x is in celsius.

(Note that temperatures outside the range [5 C, 17 C] are part imaginary.)

I've been watching Monk lately. And I'm loving it.

What worries me a bit, is that I'm slowly transforming into him. My OCD has been growing little by little. My mom calls me "Melvin" sometimes, as a reference to Melvin Udall, from "As Good as it Gets".

And the work doesn't help, either. Working at a movie rental, my OCD tendencies keep growing, since I spend all of my afternoon cleaning, and placing things, and counting, and moving things from one place to another.

Ah well. Not that I am complaining of it. Just commenting. It's funny sometimes, and useful as well. At least in work.

I've only seen two chapters (Believe it! I barely watch tv!) and I really feel I can understand him. I'm not yet that wacko (I still shake hands with people without feeling nervous), but I can totally understand how he feels when something is out of place. It's terrible!

Yeah. Ever since i started watching that show i notice littlethings that i do. It's a little strange.

Also, It definitely doesn't rain or get dark enough her in Texas. If the sun came out about 2 or maybe 3 days a week, that would be great. And i guess i'm a vampire too, since stakes through the heart would kill me.

what distinguishes a vampire is not that a stake in the heart can kill them; it's that other things can't.

I used to hate January and November. Now I hate May. It started last year when May tried to kill me. But I'm stubborn. This year is no where near as bad, but it still sucks.

I've been in a bad mood for 3 days now practically. It alternates between no mood (void setting when I am adequately distracted), depressed and pissey. I don't especially like or enjoy the last two, so I'm also annoyed. Mostly about being annoyed.

When you have no energy, and I mean NO energy, the tank is running on vapors and you are pretty sure you don't have mono, what do you folks do?

    Why, sleep, of course.

Although I'm assuming that's not an option, so I suggest....

ummm, now that I think about it, I usually just complain about how tired I am and wish I could sleep more. But that doesn't really help, does it?

    Take my antidepressants.

Completely lacking energy was one of the reasons I'm having therapy and medication at the moment. The funny thing? I'm sleeping far less, about two to three hours per day less, but I'm never out of energy. I'm currently having a fever and have to take antibiotics because of my tooth (my jaw was swollen about three centimetres. Dentist said that I could have died if I had waited a day longer), but I'm feeling nothing. Neither pain nor uneasiness.

    I'm on my own thanks.

But I sleep about 12 hours a day. Or really, exactly however much I was awake. Apparently it's typical for people like me to need to sleep a lot. We burn a lot of energy during the day in our natural state. So we sleep a lot.

Diet is healthy though a reduced calorie intake right now. But there is fat to burn so it should be okay.

Exercise. Thats that killer. I don't feel like getting up, let alone moving. Hopefully that will improve soon. My family is hopefully going to open our pool this week. That should eliminate another excuse.

It may just be depression. Drat. But I am up for any other suggestions.

They're mathematically equivalent in that it doesn't matter which one you use, so long as you indicate your choice. You can even switch back and forth within the same problem.

There's nothing that Celcius can do that Fahrenheit can't, and vice-versa. But absolute 0 does make Kelvin superior to either: there are certain operations (such as multiplying and dividing) that only work on scales where 0 means nothing (like Kelvin, but not C or F).

    Bleh.
Roguey, you're sense of cold is abnormal. 20-25*C here would kill and/or melt your average brit.
When you come here I suggest you were lots of woolies; can't have our Goddess of Theft dying from pneumonia here.

My absent-mindedness/ignorance of self has increased recently.
You all know I volunteer at Rainbows (think little Brownies for Brits or those wierd things with funny names that are for younger members of Girl Scouts in the US).
Yesterday the weather was rainy (yes!), but they couldn't go on their Bingo Walk so they did crosswords instead.
When they figured out the answer and they didn't know how to spell it I'd write it on my arms. Mostly my left.
And use my skin as the Almighty Pen Test as you do. After an hour my left hand and arm was covered in words like: laugh; cake; birthday; rainbow; dolphin and several others. Oh, and balloon in very large letters on the underside of my forearm.
I head home meaning to wash it off eventually. I wash off the right arm (barely touched, only a few pen marks on it) and forget about the left arm.
I'm in bed and think 'I'll wash it off before I leave for college'. And don't.
Didn't even realise it until about fifteen minutes agho when some girl asked why balloon was written on my arm so big.
I also seem to have a picture of a rainbow done entirely in greens.
    Graffitti is fun.
