Deadlocked: Paragon Circuit (4E)
The arena in Sigil is already packed when you arrive for your first battles, filled with the sounds of people of any imaginable race, from all imaginable walks of life, talking with or occasionally shouting at one another. Here and there, you can hear people crying out the names of their favorite fighters -- or perhaps just the ones they have money on.
The enormous arena is currently divided into smaller sections, apparently by walls that slide out of the ground for just this purpose, allowing multiple two-on-two battles to occur simultaneously for the amusement of the crowd. Pairs of paladins stand ready with Angelic Rescue and Gift of Life for the sole purpose of restoring fallen combatants after they're defeated.
The faint smell of blood lingers in the stale air as you're quickly led through the dark tunnels, emerging suddenly into the bright light of ...

SpoilerOkay, featured currently are Amya vs. Buggy and Erradran Silverhand vs. Dirich Blackerd, occurring more or less simultaneously.
After initiative is rolled, battles will follow the following procedure:
1. Declare actions in descending order of initiative, including any fluff descriptions of how your character performs his or her actions that you want included, as well as any dialogue. Talking is free! If you don't add any, I'll add fluff myself because I like fluff. Please include the name of your character with a link to your sheet at the top of each of these posts so that I can reference the sheet quickly and easily.
2. Don't roll anything yet. Instead, wait for the other person(s) to declare actions. Everyone should then, if they haven't already, declare whether they're activating any immediate actions in response to the actions that were declared. If you're not, please add at least a "no immediate actions this round" so that I know you've had a chance to declare one and chose not to.
3. Roll stuff, provided of course your action hasn't been rendered irrelevant by someone else's immediate action.
4. I'll then post what happens, and from there, we move to the next round.
IMPORTANT: If you have actions that should not be obvious to others (i.e., you're invisible and moving around), PM them to me rather than posting them here.Last edited by Kiara LeSabre; 2008-08-08 at 08:02 PM.

Re: Deadlocked: Paragon Circuit (4E)
Amya vs. Buggy
The magically amplified voice of the announcer booms through the arena suddenly, drowning out and slowly quieting the crowd.
"Lllllllllladies and gentlebeings! For our first feature of the evening, we have a special simultaneous battle, brought to you by The Flaming Fruit! When you're in the mood for fruit, and it absolutely must come from the Elemental Plane of Fire, visit The Flaming Fruit!"
"Our first combatant, making her way into the arena now, standing 6 feet 2 inches and weighing 180 pounds, one of the mysterious githyanki, and a mage at that ... please welcome Amya!"
The announcer pauses, allowing the crowd a few moments to express itself in a loud mixture of cheering and booing.
"Her opponent! ..." another pause, more roaring from the crowd "... towering at 7 feet tall and weighing a whopping 275 pounds, please put your hands and assorted other appendages together for the mighty bugbear warrior: Buggy!"
"And now the rules. There are no rules!" A brief pause for scattered laughter. "All fights are to the death! Amya, are you ready? Buggy, are you ready?"
"FIGHT!"

Re: Deadlocked: Paragon Circuit (4E)
Erradran Silverhand vs. Dirich Blackerd
"Now entering the second arena," the booming, disembodied voice continues, "at 5 foot 8 inches tall and 150 pounds, an elven ranger whose specialty is said to be the bow ... Erradran Silverhand!"
"Tonight he will be facing a human warrior sporting two giant swords, a man who has already boasted that he will lay his elven adversary to rest tonight ... standing 6 feet even and weighing 187 pounds, I give you Dirich Blackerd!"
"Without further ado ... Erradran, are you ready? Dirich, are you ready?"
"BEGIN!"
SpoilerAnd initiative, followed by first actions.

Re: Deadlocked: Paragon Circuit (4E)
Sheet
Dirich jumps into the air, landing in a crouching position, swinging his swords around at the same time.
He changes his attention from the screaming crowd, to the elf standing at the other side of the arena.
"YEAH! THANK YOU VERY MUCH! SORRY IT'LL BE TOO SHORT!"
"So that's Erradran."
He heft his sword, Oathbinder (OOC: the +5) onto his shoulder, and points Flametongue (OOC: I really need to explain?) at his opponent.
"Your time is up elf. Time to turn up the HEAT"
The blades flame come to life. He cringes as he says the command word.
"I really need to come up with a better way to say that command word."

The elf walks cooly into the arena, sizing up his opponent, using his rashness to his advantage, looking, calculating. A slight smirk creeps across his fate, knowing this will not be his last fight

Re: Deadlocked: Paragon Circuit (4E)
Suddenly all business, Dirich starts forward, his grip on his big swords tightening.
*fwip!* *fwip!*
At nearly the same moment those sounds hit his ears, the human warrior feels a sharp pain lance through his right foot, where one of Erradran's arrows has imbedded itself nearly to the feathers, driving so deeply into the arena floor that it sticks and briefly resists being dislodged, causing him to stumble and stopping him dead in his tracks for a moment as he bends to yank it free.
SpoilerDirich takes 29 damage, and his action is no longer possible as he's immobilized. Since this wasn't an interrupt stopping it, and since he's only immobilized, he can choose another action that doesn't require moving ... or pass.

Re: Deadlocked: Paragon Circuit (4E)
Okay, whoa ...
I count at least twice Dirich needs to roll saves against stun (it's at the end of his turn each time, including the turn he actually got stuck with it!), and that should be happening before he gets shot at again ...
And did you adjust damage on the attack with the accidental three Hunter's Quarries? It would not be 52 ...
Buggy can go ahead with his attack. We may need to rewind on Dirich vs. Erradran, though, depending on how those save rolls come out. Roll one for each round, again including the round he hit you with it, since your turn would have ended after that.Last edited by Kiara LeSabre; 2008-08-09 at 12:25 AM.

Re: Deadlocked: Paragon Circuit (4E)
Spoiler
Sorry I got a little carried away
Second hit(Confounding arrows): 52 comes from 19+25=44, and 8 from hunter's quarry
If he makes it he still wastes a turn
Third hit(Two-in-One shot): 45 comes from 24/2+27=39+6 from HQ
If the first made it I use my Action point to finnish him off using triple shot
If he failed it, he makes another one, again wasting his turn
Then finnish him of with triple shot
He does get 1 save but it is irrelevant
Sorry I got so exited

Okay, fair enough. Go ahead and roll Triple Shot since you're going to be able to do it no matter what happens. Dirich at least deserves a chance to try to survive.

Re: Deadlocked: Paragon Circuit (4E)
Amya and Buggy:
SpoilerBuggy doesn't have Seize the Moment or the rogue's First Strike ability, so no, no combat advantage. Even if he did, Amya has Uncanny Dodge, so still no +2 to hit.
And as for Amya, for future reference, you didn't have to cast Shield until you knew you were hit because it's an immediate interrupted triggered by being hit. You were hit anyway, so it works out ... but I'm sorry to say both attacks still hit your modified AC of 37, for a total of 75 damage (ouch)!Last edited by Kiara LeSabre; 2008-08-09 at 01:14 AM.
