The shield does not, however, provide cover against targeted spells; a spellcaster can cast a spell on you by targeting the shield you are holding.

the arm did no damage... I believe you are now GRAPPLED! fear me! RAWR!

EDIT: Wait, the Arm wouldnt even get an AoO, it's only from the target of the grapple.

I suppose that makes it my turn... And I'm grappled.

Question: Does the hand have to make any rolls to join in now? I haven't had to look up all the weird grapple rules in a while, but I seem to recall something about being able to enter a grapple already in progress without any rolling.

Joining a Grapple
If your target is already grappling someone else, you can use an attack to start a grapple, as above, except that the target doesn’t get an attack of opportunity against you, and your grab automatically succeeds. You still have to make a successful opposed grapple check to become part of the grapple.

If there are multiple opponents involved in the grapple, you pick one to make the opposed grapple check against.

So he'd still have to beat my grapple check, but he automatically touches.

Sam was good enough to point out to me that my touch AC is actually a 14, not a 13, as I remembered it. (That's what happens when you try to run your character from memory...) This means that his touch attack to grapple me actually missed, which brings us back to:
