This is what he enjoyed most. Going out in to the town, asking random villagers, workers, and even the guardsworkers for the current quarry--or even an idle chat.

My Nimbus of Light feat grants a +2 to both Sense Motive and Diplomacy if any given character is good.

Although Mal gets nothing but a few lewd suggestions or quick brush offs, Seph soon finds that there is a Professor de Guy in one of the mansions on the hill. He is, you learn, in the habit of wandering around the docks asking strange questions.

Thaddeus hangs around with the locals a bit too. He's trying to get an idea of what the local gossip is about. At this point he's wishing he knew a spell that could literally make him a fly on the wall.

Local gossip is mostly about the impending Indigo Empire-Menoah Kingdom wars.

While the rest of the party ventures forth in search of information, Jull is locked in an epic battle of wills with a seagull that has perched on the boat railing. Say what you like about gulls, they're damn good at staring contests.

Unwilling to "mingle" with the tall folk Salmaan simply remains behind, observing the half-orc's venture and chuckling to herself.

Mal returns to the boat, noticing Jull and Gull and, leaning against a piling near Salmann, joining in the chuckling.
Now, if that was a tern he'd be in real trouble.

"I'd say his hopes are slim as is," Salmaan replies, glad she's found a human with a sense of humor.

Jull's battle of wills is eventually ended... Although it would be hard to say who won. The bit where the gull pecked the burly Half-Orc in the eye and flew away kind of made the answer hazy. Jull waves an armoured fist at the retreating seagull. "Yer wins dis round, bird!" Turning away, he notices the two watching him. He waves, in a friendly manner.

Salmaan returns the wave awkwardly before turning to Malvina and asking "So did you find this professor or whatever he was?"

Mal grins at Jull a bit before returning her attention to the halfling. Unfortunatly, I didn't. Found a lot of people who seemed mighty happy to have found me, and she makes a face at that, But no leads on the professor. Hopefully one of the others found something.

Whack of deadness... and what seems to be a blindness to this thread o.o

Seph had been wandering the docks, inquiring about rather vague, but direct questions about the man whom wandered the docks often. For those hearing all of the questions they would probably easily put it together of where he resided, and he whom they were looking for. By the time the monk returned, he would have been worse for wear, a raspy voice, and his pace slowed.
"Watah..." Barely over a whisper. He was dumb enough to not bring a flask of water to keep his whistle wet.

Salmaan gives the monk an eye as he comes back. As she hears his request, she picks up the nearby flask and then stands up on her perch, holding it just out of his reach. After enjoying the irony for a few minutes, she throws it over to him.

A simple huff of annoyance vented through his dry pipes before he took and downed a helpful gulp of water. Enough to wet his whistle, and keep it wet. "Thanks." About half-full left, he gave the thing back. "My apologies for the delay. But got something of a lead--word is there's a man whom wanders these docks, asks rather perplexing questions. He might know something that we are searching for. It also seems he lives in one of the mansions up on the hill--kinda lacking in those details."

"Great," Salmaan says, half sarcastically, half serious, "Let's go then!" She jumps down and sets off towards the hills (if she can see them.)

If he wanders the docks, shouldn't we, ya know, stick around here and wait for him to wander by instead?

Gav speaks up. We could have the crew wait around to see if they can spot him while we go check out the mansion.

"We have no idea what he looks like though," Salmaan says over her shoulder, not stopping.

"That was when the details became spotty. However, if we separate and meet up before dusk, we should find specifics." The monk continued to think, using his interpersonal skills as a gauge of finding other beings. "If perhaps we can find details of what this person looks like, or where he lives it will be better than looking for a rusty sword in a pile of bronze swords."

Well, in this sort of town the rich people generally split along oppulent merchents and pompous aristos. A professor-type shouldn't be to hard to spot.

Salmaan stops short, the big fool had made a valid point. After a beat she says slowly, "See, Gav's right, let's go."

Jull cuts short his vigilant seagull-watch and wanders to the side of the boat beside Salmaan, after hearing Seph's voice. He waves at the monk. "Hey Seph! Do yer need a hands wid' findin' dis Profas.... Porf... Fing?"
