Re: The Gem Sea Sailors
When you head up into the villa studded hills you suddenly feel very out of place. Although the opulence of the place is fairly immpressive, it pales in the face of the arrogant looks you get from the denizens. Nevertheless, it is very easy to pick out the Professor's mansion. It's the one with the ill kept lawn and the pile of junk out on the front porch. As you turn in on the graveldrive way you can practically feel the nods of satisfaction coming from the watchers, their suspisions confirmed.

Re: The Gem Sea Sailors
Salmaan gives a self-concious glance over her shoulder to see if the others are coming. Once she's sure they're with her, she'll head up towards the house.

Re: The Gem Sea Sailors
Jull waves cheerfully to the people watching, unaware of their derision. His heavy armour clanks as he jogs to keep up with the lithe halfling. The plate is quite hot by now. He follows Saalmaan happily, though.

[Seph]
No help, it seemed that the direction necessary was quite clear. As such, the monk would follow along side the group. Even though nothing seemed to fit right here, it couldn't hurt to at least take a glance around with ears open.
"Would seem someone could use a gardener."

Mal hears this:
Spoiler"Hey, Jomas. People at the door. Rough types."
"Huh. If you went an' called in help fr' yerself old man, you went and called yerself more trouble. Deal with 'em, Charles."
A man in a rusted breastplate and a black bandana over his hair comes out of the door yelling "Hey youze, git-" before catching one of Salmaan's arrows in the throat. Upset, he steps up and takes a powerful swing at the halfling with his greatsword.

Re: The Gem Sea Sailors
[Seph]
Now typically this monk would have tried to negotiate with the foe, especially considering it was one of his own, and intelligent. He really didn't want to hurt these people--despite the assault on one of his new friends. "Not exactly smart of you, don't you think?" He said, continuing his stroll up to beside him. In a few short moves, he would attempt to get past the man's guard, not necessarily disarming him, but pinning him against the monk's own body.

Re: The Gem Sea Sailors
Jull was just about to raise his bastard sword for a powerful one-handed chop, but seeing that Seph had gotten in the way and realising he wanted to take him alive, raised his own blade to knock his opponent's out of his hand, while the Monk distracted him. Usually he employed this tactic to knock at sea to knock enemies weapons into the ocean, but it was just as easily applied here. Usually he'd have his gauntlet locked in order to prevent the same happening to him, but oh well.
Spoiler
I don't think there's any penalty for disarming an opponent while they're being grappled, at least not in the Grapple entry in the PHB. Jull has Improved Disarm.

Re: The Gem Sea Sailors
SpoilerYay, triple posting!
Shut up, I'm tired...
Pirate gets a counter disarm. Jull needs to roll again.
(1d20+14)[30]
Note, I rolled wrong on the last one, this is supposed to be 14.
Seph has the pirate all wrapped up but when Jull takes a swipe at the greatsword his concern for his friend leads him to misjudge, and the man counterattacks wtih some luck or skill beyond Jull, sending his bastard sword to the floor.
The commotion has drawn some attention from upstairs...Last edited by The_JJ; 2009-01-19 at 02:46 AM.

Re: The Gem Sea Sailors
[Seph]
"Careful of who you strike, Jull. Might just kill who we're looking for." With the man quite safely within his arms, the monk moved with his captive's moves, and with it, attempted to place him on the ground, pinned against his weight. Oh how much this was like on the waters--even without notice Jull took initiative as to what he wanted. "Struggle and I promise to put you in a world of hurt." He wouldn't kill--too kind for that, nor any viable reason to do so. He had other ways.
SpoilerAnother grapple to pin (1d20+7)[16]
