Re: The Gem Sea Sailors
You sketch out a map that outlines a several day voyage, if prevailing winds hold. Suddenly a big walrus moustached man is behind you, nodding. Up there? Very well. You'd be the navigator then? And the rest of you, what do you do?

Edward Farrington
Edward thrusts out a hand. "Name's Farrington. I'll be our liaison between the crew and our financial backers. Oh, and before you can ask 'what financial backers?'" With his free hand, he hefts the chest of gold. "Furthermore, I'd be happy to oversee trade on behalf of the Farrington family."

A healer? That's good. And you, did you work for Ozimandious's father? Most of these fellows he gestures at the sailors did. And they all have a score to settle. Of course, you've got a different accent.

Re: The Gem Sea Sailors
First Mate, you have the helm. Take us out. (I'm assuming the rest of the group is on board doing something)
The captain begins to walk forward. As the navigator you'll have a cabin next to mine, below the helm. He points to the forecastle. Everyone else is in the forecastle. Take the lowest level. He glances at Farrington I'll show yoiu the holds.
The ship has a tall multi-level forecastle as a platform for archers. It has three levels, the bottom, where you'll be sleeping, a second level with a ballistae, and a third with slots for archers.
To the aft there is the raised deck for the helm, beneath which the officer's quarters lay.

Edward Farrington
"It's alright," Edward hefts his possessions, "I'll find the holds on my own. Might as well get familiar with the layout of the ship. It looks like I'm going to be spending a great deal of time here." He grins. "Let's get underway, then. Shall we?"

Re: The Gem Sea Sailors
Excelent! and I suppose the ship drifts out of harbor. You follow Menchi's course for several days, and eventually you reach the area in question. One day fog rolls in as you pass a few islands and... anybody who thinks they're charactor would be on watch, roll a spot check.

Re: The Gem Sea Sailors
Menchi stays on deck most of the time as long as it's not too early or too late, enjoying the ocean and telling stories, so I suppose i'll roll spot & listen....

Re: The Gem Sea Sailors
Edward Farrington
Edward has been going stir-crazy for the past week. At first things were exciting, being out at sea. Living the adventure. But after the last few days of uninterrupted rocking, gently crashing waves, and the overpowering odor of brine, he's found himself yearning for dry land and different company.
Not that he hasn't enjoyed chatting with the crew, but there are only so many stories of storms that a body can stand. Edward's hit his limit.
He's currently pacing the deck, hoping that the exercise might burn off his boredom.

Re: The Gem Sea Sailors
Despite the unfamiliar sting of salt in the air, Salmaan had been enjoying herself. Between scouting swims on Crestrider and the trading of battle stories, she kept herself amused. Some of the humans even impressed her as half-way decent warriors. Anyone so interested could likely find her off in the water or gazing off the forecastle.

Re: The Gem Sea Sailors
Ack!!!
Horrible, horrible week.
But nice rolls, Silent.
Salmaan is skipping over the waves ahead of the fog bank when she sees an oarred galley with a ramming spike. A black banner flaps above the single mast, with a red design in the middle, a splash of crimson in the shape of two crossed cutlasses, dripping.
She turns back to warn the Topaz Forever and the swabbies soon rush to action. The captain hollers order and the deck becomes bedlam. Moments later the man with the moustache leans out. No way to avoid it. Prepare to be boarded! Crossbows to the forecastle, cutlasses to the port deck!

Re: The Gem Sea Sailors
Spoilerhow far from us is the other ship now? I'm presuming that we are going to be boarded next turn. If the ship is not particularly close I'll hold off on my spell. Here is my arcane failure check for wearing armour 10% chance (low is bad)(1d100)[77]
Thaddeus will move toward the attacking ship by up to 20' (not sure where I am at the beginning of combat) and cast slow (dc17 possibly affecting 5 of them).

Re: The Gem Sea Sailors
Edward Farrington
Buckling on his rapier, Edward stands inside the hold, safely screened from arrows. He ducks down behind a pile of provisions, levels his crossbow at the doorway, and settles in to wait. It isn't easy. Tension dances a jangling tango up and down his nerves.
Digging into his jacket, Edward removes his flask and takes a nip from it.
